Liberta Duel Academy is a Yu-Gi-Oh! roleplay site set in an Alternate Universe (AU) version of the original series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, set roughly 50 years after the end of the Dark Side of Dimensions movie. Liberta Duel Academy is set in the city of Silvershine located in a fictional small country known as Silva, somewhere along the western coastside of Europe.
September through October 20X1 - Welcome, Class of 20X4!
The new school year at Liberta Duel Academy is here! Students - new and returning - are adjusting to their school life and getting themselves settled in. The entrance ceremony presented the principal's address, spoke of Dorm Rankings, and introduced the Student Council. Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
Kai's grand entrance was somewhat cut short by the classy female student who's arrival was announced by a butler lady of her own. The name Melody Tomozawa, or rather the surname as well as the grandiose announcement led him to believe that the girl must be somehow associated with the DuBois Confectioneries Inc a company owned by the Tomozawa family. Kai's background in general businesses and corporations as well as him being involved with the family's company from an early age made him moderately well versed in many of the companies and their dealings around the country. Besides Melody's flashy entrance he noticed quite a couple of confused and some starry eyed looks from the crowd as they bickered at the two student's grandiose announcements.
One of the elder greeters approached Kai ''Master Hidata due to this unexpected development I must ask are we still going to continue as planned ?'' Kai stayed silent for a second and then noticed Melody coming towards him. ''We will Yugo.'' He addressed the elder greeter ''Just with a bit of delay.'' He then took a few steps towards the arriving Melody.
''Greetings miss Tomozawa. I assume the party is suited to your taste.'' he said with a casual expression on his face, perhaps to closest Kai could get to looking courteous. It seemed that the boy didn't actually care for being upstaged at the moment.

"Gem dust...?" she mumbled to herself under the music. When she heard that, Rina had no idea what he was talking about. What jumped into her confused mind was some weird thought of Crystal Beasts, in their crystal forms, disintegrating into dust from one of Aran's attacks or effects in a duel. Of course, the resulting mess still being on his gloves wouldn't make sense - and she knew that - but the thought lingered as she didn't know what else to think.
With the defeated Silvolver student being identified as Perry, Rina listened on and chuckled at the 'poor, dumb Perry' remark, having imagined fictional events that led Perry to this point.
After the host's introduction and Rina's recollection of his surname, she asked Aran about it as confirmation, to which the youth responded with a 'who?' having never really looked at the flyers before being dragged here. But his reasoning for that was shown to the redhead in the form of a pendant, minus its chain. Rina was surprised, gazing at his work; his earlier words now made sense to her. "~! You made this?? ...Wow~...! ---So that's what you meant by 'gem dust...!' That's actually kinda cool! You taught yourself how to make jewelry?" she asked with her generalization.
------------
Before long, another announcement was made, but it was from the other end of the room. A young woman, seemingly dressed like another greeter, or a butler, introduced an elegantly dressed girl who, at first glance, seemed full of herself, stealing the spotlight from the host of the party. Aran had his thoughts on the blonde's arrival, to which Rina half-joked "H'Hey, don't disrespect the old guy like that...!" waving her hand dismissively at the comparison.
Soon, as many watched, Melody began to approach Kai. "Uh oh; here we go~...." Rina took a sip of her juice and eyed the two of them as the collision was inevitable. Just like others, Rina, too, wondered how that interaction would go down. What would the host Hidata do? What would he say?
They wouldn't have to wait long for their conversation to begin as Kai made the first move.

As Melody approached Kai, she couldn't help but notice quite a few people were staring at her in quite an unpleasant manner. Seems that they might have gotten the wrong idea and assumed she was trying to upstage him.
What's the deal?, Melody thought to herself. Why is everyone staring at me like I'm about to stab Hidata-san in the throat?
She didn't have much time to ponder this as Kai quickly came up to her.
''Greetings miss Tomozawa. I assume the party is suited to your taste.''
AND he knows who I am? Wait, what am I saying? Of course he knows who I am! He's the heir to Hidata Tech! He's bound to be familiar with all the high-class families in Japan!
Given the awkward situation, Melody began to get more than a little nervous. Though she dared not let it show.
Calm down, you blithering idiot! You can still make a good impression! All you have to do is remain calm and ladylike, just like Puddingcess would!
Still holding her drink, Melody curtsied with one hand and gave Kai a kind smile.
"Very much so, Hidata-san. I'm having a lovely time. And you'll have to forgive the interruption. I thought this party was being held by the school itself, so I figured that entrance would impress the staff."
Melody finished her drink in one go (it was a very small glass) and set the glass on a nearby table.
"Actually, I have a few questions for you. I was hoping that perhaps we could talk further after you give your speech?"

It was a bit of an odd request from her employer. "Go on and enjoy the party". For all that was said and done, Melody might as well have asked her to enjoy a root canal.
Nevertheless, perhaps by "enjoy the party" Melody had meant "enjoy the food at the party", which was certainly something that could be done. There was a fine assortment of small, yet very elegant and elaborate little appetizers. While Penelope did appreciate the time and effort that went into the small samplings, she couldn't help but feel sorry for any students that had stricter diets than she did. A steak and cheese bruschetta with roasted tomato jam covered a lot of the four food groups, but vegetarians, lactose intolerants, gluten-free and diabetics should steer clear of a sample like that.
Penelope grabbed a drink and tried to introduce herself to a boy however he just smirked and grabbed the drink out of her hands. "Thanks Jeeves!" he said before drinking it down.
"I don't-"
Penelope caught herself, realizing that dressing like a butler in a location with far too many butlers would give off the impression that she was employed here. Instead, Penelope rushed to check her coat in, revealing a grey vest underneath her coat and showing off just a little more of her feminine figure than before.
When she and Reiji were caught at one of these boring parties they'd end up talking about anything and everything, their conversation flowing as freely as the uncorked champagne bottles the adults poured their drinks from. Here however there was no one. She thought about talking to Melody but it seemed she had gone off to talk to the host of the party.
Penelope gave a quick sigh, unsure of how to properly enjoy the party without anyone to talk to. The only thing she had enjoyed so far was the hors d’oeuvres but even then she knew there was a limit to that if she didn't want to end up sick from stuffing herself. Despite that, Penelope remained hovering around the appetizer table, unsure of what else there was to do at this party.
Seeing Rina's eyes light up and her expression at the jewelry he made, Aran felt awkward and ended up blushing. "Y-yeah, I did." Aran managed to spit out, before calming himself down and explaining. "At least, I thought myself to make the other parts to it aside from cutting the gems. My grandfather taught me that." He explained, feeling like he had to give credit to his grandfather. Gem cutting was the hobby both him and his grandfather shared, so it was his way of keeping his grandfather in memory. "I can make you something if you don't mind paying for the materials. Metals other than silver and gold are actually pretty cheap, and I got some nice rose quartz from home so I can supply the gems." He offered.
As soon as he had finished offer, his attention turned thanks to Rina's comments about that Melody person approaching that Kai guy. Turning his head towards that, Aran watched and was probably a bit too invested into the possible entertainment. "We can talk more about the jewelry afterwards..... I wonder if this is going to end with kind of 'duel for honor'? This Kai fellow already beat Perry and toss him to the side..... Granted it was only Perry, but still." Aran said, tossing some of the bite sized food into his mouth like popcorn after saying that, waiting for the fireworks, or rather the TNT, to go off.
With the proposal of receiving brand new jewelry directly from a maker, "Really!??" Rina was over the moon with how cool that was! Her smile could not be contained. Her imagination ran wild with how pretty it could look. Of course, she was all for it! "---! Oh wait...!" Then, reality kicked in: "...I don't have that much allowance to spare...! I still need it for living expenses...."
The redhead wanted to use some of those funds, but knowing that she'd be in trouble down the road, she figured that she'd be better off not messing with it. The look of 'eagerness to get it started' was phased out and replaced with an uneasiness from displaying her joy so openly and having it result in nothing gained. "Shoot...! Why'd I get so caught up in it like that when I don't even have the money to pay 'im!?" Rina really wanted to take Aran up on this offer, but she couldn't afford it - at least, she was pretty sure of that, anyway. Even if some metals can be 'cheap,' she wasn't expecting anything as cheap as she was hoping for. On a few occasions, her dad would say "Anything worth getting isn't cheap." She grew up mostly believing that, despite not having much of an idea of the monetary value of things. But no matter how you look at it, jewelry would be pricey in the end.
"Now I feel like a jerk...! 'You make jewelry?? AWESOME! You're cool! You can make me one for a fee?? SWEET! I ain't got money tho', tee hee.'" She looked away, a bit ashamed and embarrassed to say what she was about to, which she didn't want to say to begin with. But as she was working through which words to use, her eyes had caught sight of Melody heading towards Kai. Wanting to take advantage of the potential of chaos to give herself time, she flinched, rose her head, and stared at Melody for a moment in an effort to direct Aran's eyes.
"Uh oh; here we go~...." Rina took a sip of her juice and eyed the two of them as the collision was inevitable. Just like others, Rina, too, wondered how that interaction would go down. [...]
With Aran taking note of the confrontation, he suggested talking about the jewelry later, which, "Mm," Rina nodded to, allowing for a stealthy nostril exhale - as well as a mental sigh of relief. She had time to think, now. Though her interest in the confronting duo slowed her thoughts down. Regarding Aran's thoughts on what would become of the confrontation, she chimed in with "Well, it could. Would she, though? I mean, as a duelist, you don't back down from a challenge, but it looks like she took the time to dress up. Like, ...I'm not gonna lie: even I'd feel bad for her if she were to get knocked down like that Perry guy did." She imagined that possible future in her head and subconsciously cringed. "For that alone, I'd totally hope that she'd win, if they do go at it."
And as Kai and Melody seemed to be talking to each other, their dialogue not wholly audible over the chatter and music, Rina made a bit of an effort to try and read lips and hear vocal fluctuations to see if she could figure out what they were talking about - neither of which she was proficient at, but felt like trying anyway out of curiosity.
As that was going on, another person approached the appetizer table. Normally, Rina would simply catch sight of notable motion in her peripheral sight, glance over, then ignore it. However, when it occurred this time, she noticed that it was a person of interest that was in the vicinity. With a bit of an ocular double-take, "O---!! It's the lady butler!" Rina then looked back to Kai and Melody, then back to the female butler. "...She's just 'enjoying' the party now, right...?" remembering the Tomozawa girl saying something like that before the place got noisy again.
".... .... .... ...." She watched on.... The black-haired girl with the blonde streak definitely looked like she was somewhere around their age. ...Interesting.... ".... .... I wonder if she's lonely.... .... ...Can butlers get lonely...?" Rina arched a brow. It was a silly question, but with what she understood from the characterization of butlers, it felt logical to her to wonder about it. ".... .... .... ...."
After a bit of time, glancing at Aran for a moment, ".... Keheh," a wide grin quietly and quickly spread across her face as she disengaged the boy from her sights. "Let's do it, me!"
With the back of her index finger, Rina horizontally tapped Aran's upper arm to get his attention. "Hey: be right back." And without waiting for an answer, hyped up and eager, she quickly proceeded towards the dark-haired girl, drinking up the rest of her juice. Three-quarters of the way there, Rina slowed to a more casual approach. Clearing her throat, she called to the young woman who wasn't too far away at this point. Hopefully the music wasn't too loud for her voice to break through. "Sorry! Excuse me~...! Missus butler?" She tried her best to seem in need of some help without being too noisy to attract too many eyes. Once she was within conversational range, the redhead added, "I'm sorry for bothering you...! You're not too busy, right?" Looking worried that she just might be.
Kai did his best to make a pleasant half smile at Melody's comment about her arrival with a nod of his head -''No need to worry miss Tomozawa, I believe the entrance did impress both the staff and the guests. As for me I don't mind getting upstaged for a moment.'' he said half jokingly. The truth was Kai would indeed mind it in any other case but seeing the daughter of the DuBois Confectioneries Inc owners sparked a possibility in his mind, an idea, that made his ego and grand entrance take a back seat for a moment. ''I'll be glad to take your questions and as for my speech...'' Kai paused as he gazed into the crowd for a moment ''I actually intended for a little surprise for this party. To make it into a mini tournament so to say... we are a duel school after all are we not ?'' he said with a sly smile looking back at Melody.
''Shall we go on as planned sire ?'' an elderly butler asked Kai who just nodded his head in agreement. The music once again stopped and most of the eyes that were not already staring at Kai and Melody now turned to them as the butler clapped a spoon on the empty wine glass as a sign of announcement. ''Greetings fellow dormmates as well as you from the other houses. Since the flow of my arrival and announcements was cut short a few times now I'll keep this brief. This isn't meant to be an ordinary party, as a dueling school it is only appropriate that this gathering is crowned with a few duels accordingly. Hence... I wanted to make a mini tournament out of a portion of the time of this party. Some of you will lack interest, some perhaps even courage but the point is to get only those who's hearts are truly in this sport among you. So to the massive herd that stands before me now... which one's of you are willing to duel...'' Kai ended as the last sentence was delivered with a significantly more shaper and ominous tone and an equally intense look directed into the crowd.
The butler approached and took Kai's place wanting to jot down those who are to agree and probably be in charge of the organization of the mini event while Kai stepped back and approached Melody again -''Now that that's done, I'd be happy to take your questions miss Tomozawa.'' he said with a lot lighter expression than he had just a moment ago.

So far the appetizer that she found the best were the Wagyu Beef Sliders. They were elegant yet familiar. They were small but they didn't leave you feeling unsatisfied. As she began to reach for a second round of appetizers, she heard a voice calling at her general direction.
It took a second for Penelope to realize what had just been said to her, and another second to process what the speaker had obviously meant.
With an emotionless look of indifference on her face, Penelope replied: "I apologize ma'am. I am not working here this evening."
It was evident the red headed girl needed something, probably a drink or to be served some appetizers, and Penelope had been given specific instructions to "enjoy the party".
"I have been instructed to refrain from working for the rest of the night by my employer." Penelope raised an arm and motioned in the direction towards Melody.
As she pointed towards Melody and Kai it seemed the music suddenly cut out and the host of the party gave an announcement. It seemed a tournament was to be held at this party.
The serious expression on her face soured into a scowl at the thought of dueling. She wasn't good at it and didn't particularly enjoy playing. With a sigh she crossed her arms across her chest and addressed the red headed girl still in front of her.
"If you need further assistance, I can at least point you in the right direction." she said in a bit of an exasperated tone. Though she didn't want to work it wouldn't be proper to leave someone hanging for so long.
As the off-duty lady butler explained the situation, Rina quickly realized the misunderstanding. Before Rina could say anything, however, another announcement took place. After that, and the final word from the other girl, Rina waved her hands and shook her head negatively as she chimed in with "! Oh, no-no-no, that's not what I meant," sounding a little flustered and apologetic for not being clear from the start. "Sorry. I just wanted to chat with you a bit, that's all. ...I'm still fairly new, here, and, h'if nothing else, this party's kinda given me a reason to open up and talk to people. You're the second person I've talked to, here!" Rina was pretty happy to be opening up and initiating a conversation with someone, for once. It's one thing to do it with family; it's a whole 'nother ballgame when it comes to initiating with strangers.
"Wanna hang out? ---I mean, it'll be after that tournament thing 'cause~ I wanna practice and get better... - but after that, it'd be me, you, and the first person I talked to, if he's still here by then. We can chill an' chat together; pass the time away an' enjoy ourselves? ...Wanna give it a try?"

"A tournament...?" Zephyr listened in from among a set of chairs around one of the many round dining tables throughout the area. Feet propped up and crossed atop the seat of a second chair, the girl had her right arm folded on the table as its hand twirled juice around within its containing cup. "Well, it sounds interesting enough, at least.... Hmph." Zephyr glanced around the main hall at the various people who seemed to want to join in. "...I should've known there was more to this than just a meet 'n' greet. .... ...." "...But it can count me out: there's no way I'm getting caught up in duels when I haven't even heard what the rules are." She took a sip of her drink and continued to watch everything unfold, wondering what kind of tournament would come to pass - and if she'd regret not entering blindly.
