Liberta Duel Academy is a Yu-Gi-Oh! roleplay site set in an Alternate Universe (AU) version of the original series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, set roughly 50 years after the end of the Dark Side of Dimensions movie. Liberta Duel Academy is set in the city of Silvershine located in a fictional small country known as Silva, somewhere along the western coastside of Europe.
September through October 20X1 - Welcome, Class of 20X4!
The new school year at Liberta Duel Academy is here! Students - new and returning - are adjusting to their school life and getting themselves settled in. The entrance ceremony presented the principal's address, spoke of Dorm Rankings, and introduced the Student Council. Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
Due to an abundance of flyers and posters being posted up and laying around all over the school grounds about a certain party that's being held a rather large crowd gathered around the Legold Dorm. What was rather odd about this gathering was that the posters made it explicitly clear that all the food and drinks would be free for all the guests and there would be no entrance fee, signed only by a quotation ''All expenses covered by the Hidata family, do enjoy yourselves..''. Naturally many of the students from around the campus came together to check what it's all about, some to party and have free drinks and food and others simply out of curiosity. The main hall of the Legold dormitory was set up more like a banquet than what most would expect out of a teenage party, with waiters and greeters all with incredibly stiff posture welcoming the incoming groups of students.
''What the... didn't expect this.'' One student said as he awkwardly returned the slight bow to the elder greeter gentleman at the door. ''Wow.. they really prepped this place...'' another one said in awe as he looked up and around the decorated ceiling. ''Who has the cash for this sorta thing ?'' one of the girls of the group wondered out loud somewhat perplexed.
It took maybe an hour and the arrival of some more groups of students for everyone to quickly adapt to the unexpected ''party'' arrangement and to start having fun. Quickly the hall was filled with laughter, loud chit chat and music and the guests gradually stopped wondering about who was behind the party and what was the whole purpose anyways as they reveled in the fun, food and drinks.
Kai Hidata sat in his dorm room, alone, arms crossed, eyes closed and with a mildly annoyed look on his face. The music and the sounds of guests from the hall bellow slowly started to get louder and louder and as they did so the boy's facial expression slowly changed to a slight sly smile. But it was still not time though... not yet. There is yet more room to reach the apex of the gathering downstairs before he would make his grand entrance and grandiosely announce his presence in the school.
Among the curious was a redheaded girl who could hear lots of chatter from outside of her dorm room. After making sure she looked decent, the side-ponytailed girl left her home away from home and entered the hallway as other Legold students conversed loudly and passed her by in eagerness to attend the party downstairs in the main hall. "Is everyone going?? ..." she thought to herself. A moment later, she smirked. "Well I guess you would if it's in your own house." Having seen one of the posters about the gathering, the redhead, too, decided to check it out when it happens, and it was time to do just that - while being comfortably late as well.
Did the academy put this together? If so, why here in the House of Legacy? Why not somewhere else? The feeling of attending this party was a little weird for her. It was a party not planned by her parents or herself, but still in her 'home'.... It was a new experience, but one that she had no intention of letting get to her, this passing territorial feeling. There's free food and drinks, there wasn't any sort of special dress code for the event, and it could be fun, too! Who was she to complain, anyway? She should be thanking this "Hidata family" for the grub!
Wearing her gold-accented academy uniform with the exposed, buttoned white dress shirt underneath, she stepped down the flight of stairs. A student held open one of the doors to the main hall for her as they passed through it. Catching it, the blue-eyed teen gazed into the party area with widened eyes as she, too, entered. "...Look at this...! Wow...!" she near-inaudibly mumbled to herself under the beats of the music. The place was really starting to bustle; crowds everywhere with varying dorm colors spread throughout! Waiters and waitresses all over the place; greeters at the main entrance; decorations a-plenty; this looked pretty high-class - more-so than she was expecting!
Walking amongst the students and faculty that were there, the orange-haired girl headed straight for a food table once she eyed it. She wasn't much for dancing in public, but she had no problem watching others do it. With a red fruity drink held in a plastic cup, she took a light sip. Enjoying the taste of it, she indulged in it again and nosily eyed those who arrived, those who conversed, and those who came for the food. "...The school year's only just starting and so many people showed up to this. .... I wonder if I'll get to know any of them before the year's over...."
With her hands in the pockets of her light, black hoodie, Zephyr entered the Legold dorm, greeted at the door by some butler-y looking guy. She said nothing to the greeter and just walked past him.
"A bit much for some free eats...."
She looked at the decor of the place, this being the first time she had been in a dormitory other than her own. It was similar in layout, but the designs to the structures were different, giving the dorm its own vibe. But with the addition of the decorations for the party, it lost some of that 'classic' flair in exchange for the mingling feeling that it was giving off - kinda like a prom or something.
Zephyr walked across the main hall, looking around to see if anyone stood out, like a host or something. When she saw two older people, likely faculty members, she assumed they were here to look after everyone, but when she asked them about it, they claimed they were only here to enjoy the party. Zephyr didn't seem to believe them, but didn't press it further. Asking who put this party together, she was told that they did, in fact, know who got it rolling, but didn't want to say anything more. But this was just a simple party, wasn't it? Maybe not..., but what was there to hide? "Is the school doing this for someone? ...It's gotta be more than just someone's birthday, right? .... RrrRRRGH, what the hell's this party for!?" Thinking about it only annoyed the girl as she moved on from the teachers and continued nosily walking about the lobby, around crowds and other groups, some of which also being curious as to who was behind this.
".... Remind me again why I'm here, exactly?" Aran said to the person standing next to him, feeling awkward. While everyone else was in either dress attire or their school uniform, Aran was in just his usual casual clothes of basic hightop tennis shoes, a red pair of pants with two belts (one for holding his pants up, and a second, looser one that his deckbox hung to), a white button up shirt, and a black jacket with some red highlights, along with a pair of black fingerless gloves. they weren't for being edgy, but rather so that when he's working with gem cutting, he can grip the gem between his fingers without worrying about the sharp ends of the gem stabbing into the palm of his hands. His hair was messy, and while it had been straightened out a bit, he still looked like he had just woken up... Which is what had happened, as he had been taking a nap beforehand whden his next door neighbor pounded on his door, woke him up, and dragged him off, barely giving him a chance to grab his wallet, jacket, shoes, and duelphone, not even telling him where he was going.
The person Aran had spoken to was his next door neighbor, and happened to be the person who dragged him out here, Todd. "Well, for one, you've been cooped up in your room for the past week. Two, free food. Three, you clearly need to socialize. And four, which is the most important part, you're my wingman." He said without a shred of hesitation. "..... Yeah, I'll go socialize, but I'm not gonna be your wingman. I've barely known you a week and I can already tell that's a bad idea." Aran said, walking away from Todd immediately while waving his hand back towards him, heading towards the food and drink.
'I know he's right on me needing to get out. Got WAY to into cutting that package of rose quartz from home. But really? Being his wingman? I've seen him get tonguetied talking to the granny who works in the Silvolver cafeteria. I bet the first girl that he talks to makes him lock up completely and babble lik-' Aran thought, glancing back and seeing that, indeed, Todd locked up entirely the moment a girl approached him, and started babbling like an idiot. ".... Seriously dude? You couldn't even let me finish my insult?" He complained outloud, having stopped and gawked at it.
"Christ, dodged a bullet there." Aran said out loud with a sigh, getting to the food table. Quickly piling up a plate, he saw an orange haired girl who looked just as confused as he was as to what was going on. However, unlike him, she was in her uniform, while he came in casual clothes, having only really changed out of the dust covered set he was wearing prior. Tapping on her shoulder to get her attention, he spoke. "Hey, tangerine, you're from this dorm, right? Do you know why Legold is throwing such a huge party? Seems like they would've only had it for legold students, rather than inviting the whole school." He asked, adding onto the end what he figured would've been normal.
As the sounds of the party downstairs got richer and louder Kai finally opened his eyes and got up from his chair, the look of annoyance and boredom replaced with a sly self satisfying smirk. ''I guess the time is right.'' - the white haired student murmured out to himself as he swiftly crossed the length of his room and got to the door, his black coat swept up by the sudden motion. Traversing the hallway now at a more relaxed pace Kai went over the few choices he had for ''entrance speech'' for the last time before his thoughts were cut short suddenly...
''You're the guy right ? Hah! I knew it.'' a voice shouted out Kai looked up to see a male student standing in front of him. Sporting a buzz cut, a duel disk on his left arm, a uniform with silver streaks signaling his belonging to the Silvolver dorm and a look of condescending self satisfaction that rivaled even Kai's. ''I remember you from the entrance exam, your family name sticks out ya know..'' the boy continued. ''As soon as I saw the poster I realized what your rich smug-ass brain was trying to do. You're gonna try and bedazzle everyone with your party and try to buy your way into this school's community.'' he said as he pointed an accusing finger at an unamused Kai. ''Hahahah too bad I had a better plan...'' the boy said as his duel disk started to engage ''And I'm about to take all that clout by using your own little stunt to my advantage.'' he said as he eyed Kai over the extended hand that carried his duel disk that now sprang to life with beeping sounds and clicks.
''Very well then...'' Kai nodded his head and smiled with his eyes closed for a moment ''This will be a greater entrance than any possible speech I could have made.''
The hall downstairs still brimmed with people and music and it seemed as the party was just getting heated up to it's apex. As such it was no wonder that none of the attendants noticed the sounds of an ongoing duel in the hall just above them. That is until it neared it's end and the explosions started to get meshed around with the loud music. Even then only a few would register what's going on, most of the others being too caught up flirting, dancing, drinking, laughing and just simply having fun. What did gather the attention of the guests was a student that seemingly came out flying out of the hallway knocked back by the said explosion in the hallway. Two of the greeters hastened their movements as if realizing they were behind the schedule or that the schedule was suddenly changed and signaled to the dj to cut the music.
The men then stood one at each side of the stairway, first confusingly glancing at the Silvolver student that sat on his behind on top of the stairs and then straightening up when they noticed Kai coming out of the same hallway. ''Ahem! Ladies and gentlemen please welcome your host, the man who made this all possible... Master Kai Hidata!'' Both greeters bowed and extended their hands in Kai's direction as the Legold student made his way down the stairs and to the room of impressions, barely glancing at the Silvolver student as he passed him.

Before the host arrived, while the orange-haired teen was gazing ahead at others, she felt something tap her shoulder. It caught her off-guard, but thankfully, the noise-filled setting insulated her reaction to it. "!" There was a notable flinch to the contact before she turned her head towards her shoulder, and then to the person whose hand was nearest to her: a brown-haired teen with a neat red and black theme going on. The first word that caught her attention was 'tangerine,' and it definitely sounded like he was referring to her with that word. It took her a second to understand why, though, as 'tangerine' was a new one for her. She didn't really like that she was being called that, especially when it felt like there was a bit of arrogance to it, but at the same time, used to being called 'red' when people didn't know her name, it was kind of a step up - more interesting and unique in her mind. As such, she didn't mind the description all that much and gave the guy a pass in the heat of the moment.
He asked about the reasoning for the party, to which she casually answered, "Right?? ...But yeah, beats me what's going on." She gestured a shrug, being careful with her drinking cup before looking back at the sea of students in the area. "And if its not for Legold, then I've definitely got no clue. ...But I do know this:" She turned to the boy, moving her cup to her left hand. Putting out her right hand, she said, "Name's Rina; open up the tangerine aaan' there I am!" She smiled to him, internally thinking she was pretty clever to find her name within the letters.
-------------------------
Before too long, Rina's ears perked up to the faint background sound of explosions. With all the music and the bass, she couldn't quite tell if it was from the music or if it was something else, but as people's attention seemed to shift to one direction, so did the redhead's. At the top of the stairs, a Silvolver student sat with his back to everyone. It seemed like something happened to put him there. A confused look surfaced on Rina's face as the greeters moved into position. "...? ...Did something happen?"
When the greeters introduced the host, not only did 'Master' stand out - though in retrospect, it made sense - but so too did the surname 'Hidata.' She thought for a moment as the clapping accompanied the host teen coming down the stairs, taking all the focus off of the fallen Silvolver. "? .... Hey," twisting her head to the boy next to her, "...'Hidata:' that's the free food family, right?" referring to the family name in the poster that provided today's food and drink.

The party was a lot more formal than Penelope would have expected.
In her mind, Penelope envisioned her first high school party to involve pizza, cola, and maybe a few delinquents trying to smuggle liquor into her red solo cups. She imagined loud music, awkward social games like truth or dare or spin the bottle, and memories that would set the tone for the remainder of the year.
When her new boss asked her to make an announcement of her arrival, Penelope thought it would come off as cheesy, but looking at the grand ballroom with butlers serving little appetizers off expensive platters Penelope wondered if perhaps her current employer knew something she didn't. Perhaps they recognized the name and a new loud boisterous introduction would not only go well, but actually be encouraged.
Despite showing up to a party, Penelope wasn't here to have fun. She had a small task to perform, and here she was.
At the introduction of the host of the party, Penelope joined in on the clapping. Not wishing to upstage the boy, but also not wishing to be drowned out by the music starting, Penelope took advantage of the softening of the ambient noise to make her announcement as well.
"And as we all introduce ourselves to each other at Master Hidata's party, I would like to make an introduction as well. It is my most esteemed privilege to introduce to you all," Penelope gestured towards the hall from where they had both agreed the girl would make her entrance.

"And as we all introduce ourselves to each other at Master Hidata's party, I would like to make an introduction as well. It is my most esteemed privilege to introduce to you all, Miss Melody Tomozawa!"
Melody Tomozawa entered the Legold Dorm main hall, wearing a gorgeous red dress with a matching silk scarf. Her hair and makeup had been done up to perfection.
“Gokigenyo, monsieurs and mademoiselles,” smiled Melody as she curtsied to the crowd. She then took Penelope’s hand, and bowed slightly.
“Thank you, Penelope. That will be all for now. Go on and enjoy the party.”
As Melody wandered around the party and mingled with the other students, she found herself quite impressed. Whoever this Kai Hidata was, he knew how to throw one hell of a party. She’d only just arrived, and she was already having more fun than she had at any of the parties at St. Vaulfort.
After taking some time to sample the hors d'oeuvres (she was especially fond of the salmon bagel bites) she glanced over to Kai Hidata, the host that had been previously introduced.
So, that's the famous Kai Hidata, Melody thought to herself. Seems like a bit of a cold fish. Still, it would be rude if I didn't go over and introduce myself. But first.....
Melody wandered over to the bar, and ordered a Shirley Temple in a plastic wine glass. With drink in hand, she gracefully sauntered over to Kai Hidata.
When the host, Kai Hidata, made his grand entrance, Zephyr raised a brow at the youth. She was among those who heard the explosion sounds and saw a fellow Silvolver collapse, prior. As people clapped out of respect - and maybe gratitude for the grub - Zephyr eyed him closely. "...It's his family funding this thing, huh?" The dark-haired girl folded her arms. "...So this is just a publicity stunt. For what? Just to let us know he's here?" To Zephyr, that seemed like a pretty vain thing to do, but that was his business; she was just curious. "Huh!" she scoffed. "I wonder who they think really gives a damn." As far as she could easily tell, all anyone was really here for's the food. They don't care who provided it. ...Unless they think it will keep being provided....
Zephyr almost wanted to rain on the guy's parade and let him in on those thoughts. But before the idea could cement itself in her mind, another announcement echoed from across the hall. A young, raven-haired woman in uniform called out to the party-goers and the host, himself, to announce the arrival of her own master, Zephyr assumed. A 'Miss Melody Tomozawa' appeared before everyone - another teen; a blonde in a fancy red dress. Zephyr was a bit taken aback over the fact that this girl was introduced almost right after the host. Are their families working together on this party? "Wait, if the Hidata guy's the host, does that make her---...."
Her address to the crowds had quite a bit of charisma in what little she actually said. Is she the one who's the star of this party?? "What's going on, here," she wondered as the blonde went to get herself a drink. ".... ---!" Zephyr thought back and then realized.... "Hold on. Yeah, the butler girl said it was 'Hidata's party.'" She then glared at the Tomozawa girl, with disbelief in her eyes, as she approached Kai Hidata. "So then... is she trying to upstage him??"
"Huh, I figured a Legold would've known, given this definitely would've taken hours to set up." Aran Said, figuring that Legold students would've asked some of the staff as to what was going on. Granted, Aran did also consider the fact that likely the staff was told to keep quiet about it, as to not ruin the surprise. "Still... I wasn't expecting a high society type of party to happen this early into the school year....... Or rather, at all." He said idly, before the person introduced themselves. "Ah, nice to meet you then Rina. I'm Aran. Aran Tatsura." He said with a bright smile, before putting out his hand and offering her a handshake, before quickly taking it back. "Oh, right. Forgot that my gloves are probably dirty from gem dust." He said without realizing.
Hearing the explosions in the background, Aran glanced at the band. "Was that duel explosions, or are they experimenting with the bass?" He asked, before which he heard something crash. Looking over to the hallway that led to the stairs, Aran recognized the Silvolver student lying there. "Oh hey, its Perry. That guy owes at least a 4th of the live-in students in Silvolver money from gambling lunch money and losing, before running away." He said, recalling that Perry specifically owed him $20. Seeing the apparent host step over him, Aran could easily piece together what happened. "Poor, dumb Perry." He said, not really caring that his fellow student got treated like training NPC in a fighting game.
Hearing the Introduction, and Rina's guess, Aran could really only let out a simple question. "........ Who?" He asked, as he really had no idea who the Hidata family was. "I didn't see any of the fliers as I got dragged here by a friend of mine due to being cooped up in my room for the past few days working on this." He said, before pulling out a rather decent yet basic looking pendant with a nicely cut Rose quartz stone in the center of it, that was missing the chain.
When the door flew open, and the rich looking woman came in, Aran couldn't help but squint his eyes suspiciously. "Is.... Is this how high society parties normally go? This seems more like an adapted Shakespeare play." He said, before making a rude comment. "I wonder if they're gonna perform hamlet next? I'd have said Romeo & Juliet but those two look like they'd get along like oil and water." He said, specifically thinking that the girl in question likely had a haughty attitude from first appearances due to her having a...... Butler(?) introduce her.
