Liberta Duel Academy is a Yu-Gi-Oh! roleplay site set in an Alternate Universe (AU) version of the original series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, set roughly 50 years after the end of the Dark Side of Dimensions movie. Liberta Duel Academy is set in the city of Silvershine located in a fictional small country known as Silva, somewhere along the western coastside of Europe.
September through October 20X1 - Welcome, Class of 20X4!
The new school year at Liberta Duel Academy is here! Students - new and returning - are adjusting to their school life and getting themselves settled in. The entrance ceremony presented the principal's address, spoke of Dorm Rankings, and introduced the Student Council. Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
From the dorm to Liberta's main building, Rina and Doku passed through its halls and made their way to the front of the school where the school's store can be found. Selling a variety of things, from snacks to drinks, stationery to backpacks, replacement duel disks to dueling accessories, and even card boosters at the counter! A mega-convenience shop for the students and staff, alike! The interior was deceivingly large; you wouldn't know it just gawking from outside its entrance area. beyond the entrances walls, the store extended to both the left and the right, hiding most things from the passersby.
Rina had been inside the shop only once, prior, and even then, it wasn't a lengthy venture. This time may be different - depending on their luck. She and Doku were here on a mission: Rina, to obtain the machine monster card, "Dyna Base"; Doku, to obtain the elusive "Abyss Actor" cards that had released not too long ago.
"'Moment of Truth' time...." As they approached and eventually entered the establishment, Rina looked around at various things, not yet ready to go to the cashier who stood before the card packs - and behind the glass counter of individual cards for sale. The young, adult man who stood there soon made eye contact with both Doku and Rina and greeted them into the store.
"Hey there; welcome," he nodded to them.
Rina gestured her hand, saluting him, and returned the greeting two-fold. "Hey-hey!"
With more of a smile, he continued, asking "Anything I can do for you guys, or did you wanna browse for a bit?"

The purple-haired boy would soon find himself lagging behind Rina. He wasn't expecting to head to the card shop right now, but hey, when a friend wanted to do something, you dropped everything and helped! Doku was all familiar with the shop, I mean he came to buy food pretty often, and those long shifts were always finished with some candy. Probably not the most healthy...
Doku decided to be the first one to speak up, looking behind the counter the best he could. His eyes darted from card to card. From his quick glances, Doku didn't notice any of his pendulum fiends. So it was time to do something everyone hated... asking the clerk. Clearing his throat Doku decided to speak up.
"Do you happen to have Abyss Actor - Super Producer?" He would glance at Rina. "And my lady friend here wants Dyna Base." He would let out a soft chuckle. "I need the new link monster to boost my deck." Doku was hoping they had his card in stock, but even if not maybe they could find other cards to help them out.

"Abyss Actor - Super Producer and Dyna Base? Let's take a look down here...." Looking down the glass countertop in front of him, his eyes scanned the selection of cards that looked back up at him. There wasn't much organization to their layout; they were mostly monster cards and trap cards, with a sprinkling of spells here and there. Each shelf could hold 60 unique cards, 20 per row. The cards were spread down 2 shelves and the inner base level - essentially a third shelf. Three glass displayers in total meant 9 shelves and 540 unique cards to sift through. But he was up for it. Some of the cards he remembered, but some had changed since his last shift, so he needed to be thorough for them.
Along the way down the first glass counter, the clerk found other Abyss Actor cards, but didn't say anything about them, focusing on what the customer specifically asked for: Super Producer. If the purchasers were looking along with him, they could see if they wanted anything else from there or not. "Dyna Base...; Super Producer...."
In the second glass counter, on the top shelf, he found one of the cards 11 into the first row closest to him. He slid open the glass door on his side and reached in.
"Here we go...! .... Alright, we've got 'Abyss Actor - Super Producer'!"
Each card was preserved in a sleeve - Super Producer was no different. The gentleman behind the counter pulled the card and checked it.
"Just one, here~." Raising it into view for Doku, he then placed the card on the countertop "What else is there...?" and continued to look through the rest of the loose stock.
For a while, he wasn't coming up on anything else that they asked for - not even a second copy of Super Producer. Sometimes, duplicates are added to the displays, but not with their other copy, stacked within the same sleeve. They're sometimes thrown in as a standalone copy, ignorant to another copy somewhere else in the displays. Some employees won't take the time to keep things together; this employee experienced and understood that truth, so he kept his eyes peeled.
Rina, eyeing the cards at her own pace, was filled with a sort of... nervous anticipation? She hoped that Dyna Base was there - and three of it, to boot. But seeing that the worker was now at the third and final display, she began to worry that it wasn't there at all.
Soon, he was at the bottom 'shelf'. The shop clerk had yet to run into another card that they were looking for. "That... might be it...." he said with faint anguish in his voice. No sooner than when the words escaped his lips that he almost skipped over the card. On the bottom 'shelf', middle row, also 11th in, he saw it. "Oh---! Wait~! Almost missed it." Grabbing the card, he finished off scanning the rest of the area before returning to the surface with it.
"Dyna base," raising it for Rina to see before counting the number of copies in it and putting it on the countertop next to the Abyss Actor Link Monster. "Only one of this, too. Is that alright? Will one be enough for you guys?"
The excitement was honestly killing the purple-haired boy! I mean what if they had what he needed? What if they didn't? Doku would watch as the man looked behind the counter checking for the cards requested, the shelf was pretty impressive, it showed off JUST how many cards there were.
Thankfully Doku had managed to get other copies, of the other Abyss Actor cards he needed, he was just missing the Link. "Well, hey, one is better than none, I still gotta find the other two copies somehow." Doku would pick up the card from the countertop and read through it, he knew what it did, but it was different, just like reading the back of a book several times before you read it properly.
Doku nodded, "Well hey, at least they have 1 Rina! We can always get another later!" He chuckled a bit, reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his wallet and looked at the man behind the counter. "How much? I'll buy both the cards" He would look at Rina and smile a bit. "I'll get the cards, they can't be that expensive" Though, the boy's eyes wandered towards a small wooden bookshelf to their left, and there it was! Blister packs! "I... think that pack has Dyna Base, if you wanna try and pull more!" He threw a suggestion out there, but here was the million-dollar question, was Rina a gambling woman?

One Dyna Base was indeed better than none - but three would be far better than even that, and such was Rina's goal. With things as they stood right now, Doku offered to pay for the both of them: the lone Dyna Base and the Super Producer, respectively.
The offer to pay for her caught Rina by surprise and left her silenced as the clerk informed Doku of the combined price. "Let's see.... This one's [[redacted]] and~ this's [[redacted]], so it'll come to [[redacted]] altogether." Their cost was, indeed, not that expensive.
With a raised brow and a soft grin, The tall girl replied "...You didn't have to do that..., but thanks!" It did save the girl some money. Though she came fully prepared to buy the card herself, this situation put her in a better spot for what was to come.
And now that Doku informed her of which booster set he thinks Dyna Base came from, he also saved her time from asking which set to find it in. Her eyes laser-focused in that direction, "That one? W'Yeah, I'm totally going for it...! I need 'em, so I can't leave without trying...!" she leaned toward the blisters and narrowed her eyes slightly. "And thanks to you saving me some money, I can put more of that over to this, now." Seeing the stickered price of each pack from that set, Rina audibly calculated that she could buy "[...]6 packs," safely, avoiding going into the red.
The shop rep brought the opened box display of blisters over to the counter for Rina to choose from. "Here you go. Take your pick."
"Thaaank'you'p." Rina seemingly picked 6 random packs from the box. The redhead was leaving it to instinct and luck - or maybe fate. The packs were laid on the glass top. "I'll get these ones," she emphasized to the clerk, insinuating that Doku and Rina would pay in turn rather than Doku paying for everything, which her conscience refused to allow. "So what about you," she glanced at Doku as she pulled out her debit card. "Is that all you're getting?" referring to his acquired Link monster.
--------------
Once Rina paid for the packs with her debit card and put it away, she took hold of her packs again that the clerk picked up and handed to her. She was ready to open them, right away - and she did so.
Each pack contained nine cards. Through the packs that she opened, she was able to gather a total of zero more Dyna Bases. A few interesting cards were pulled that were meant for other decks, but they weren't what she was looking for, so it was, overall, an unfortunate result, "..." but not too surprising with Doku's account of his previous efforts returning to mind. "Not a single one.... That bites...." The teen sighed before picking herself up. "---Oh well...! I'll just have to wait for my allowance to try again," she announced, fairly wispily towards the end; a little deflated.
Doku would pay for the cards, turning to face Rina. "Oh, I just did it 'cause it was only a couple of bucks." The shorter purple-haired boy would let out a rather awkward smile as he soon tucked his wallet back into his pocket. "Ah. A gambling woman I see!" The boy would watch as Rina scooped up 6 of the packs, honestly, it was funny to watch. Rina was a little goofy so it was always amusing. "Well hey, you got chances!" He walked closer to the counter as he peered over her shoulders.
"Oh hell no, I learned my lesson, I got 20 packs the other day and pulled nothin" He would blow a raspberry for dramatic effect. "But hey, maybe my bad luck will avoid you?" That was his way of wishing Rina luck in her pack pulls.
He gave her some space to open her packs but judging from her reaction she had nothing. He related. HARD. He laughed a little bit. "Allowance? You know my work is always hiring~?" He nudged her jokingly. "But hey, I can look through some of my cards to see if I have a Dyna Base laying around!" Doku bought packs somewhat regularly so he probably had some kinda bulk laying around.

"Only when I think I have a good chance!" she responded to Doku's gambling remark, letting her hand guide her as she selected packs.
---------------------
Doku's bad luck avoiding her? "Well, I hope so. I don't even wanna think about my pulls being cursed with your luck...."
---------------------
Doku nudged her as he jokingly brought up his workplace. The duo had briefly spoken about getting Rina a job at the cafe where Doku works - this was back at the game store in town, not too long ago, since Rina was indeed looking for work and the conversation came up. "!" Rina nudged back with a fraction of additional force, and a grin. "Hyeh hyeh, funny...! Don't forget to tell her, y'know...!" referring to Doku's manager, and putting in a good word for the redhead.
---------------------
When Doku offered to check his collection of cards to see if any Dyna Bases might be lost in the pile, the girl clapped her hands - with the cards and wrappers in them - together. "Please," then twice more, "Please-please, if you can. With just one, I've gotta build my deck differently than if I had three of 'em. ...I kinda wonder how that'd turn out." She then began to put her last pack's cards away, back into the wrapper... ---then exclaimed to him "...---And then there's actually 'getting used to using the card' too, right?" The redhead had a serious expression on, pensive in nature, as she contemplated what changes she'd make to accommodate all her Base.

Honestly, Doku was impressed by Rina's idea, I mean wasting your money on things like that is never a good idea. So he understood that I mean Doku hated wasting his money, so he agreed with Rina.
"Oh, sure!" He wasn't exactly expecting a response like that, so Doku would respond. "Oh! If you're serious, sure! Helen and I go WAYYY back!" A bit of nepotism maybe, but Helen really did see Doku as a hard worker. Doku was sure Rina would be a good waitress, she had upbeat energy, and such so a chill cafe would be a good fit. "I'll text her and let you know!"
Doku would nod. "Yeah, I can check. I definitely have one copy! So I can check for a second." He tapped his chin, thinking about his collection, it was hard to know EXACTLY what he had himself, so he was going to dig through all his bulk. "I mean the best way to learn is a duel right? I'm sure you'll get the hang of it quickly." Doku would smile a bit,

"Thankyas." All she could really say. Rina gasped when she heard that Doku had a copy of Dyna Base card in his possession. With that gasp, though, she hesitated. Then, with compressed lips, she tried to reason with herself against it as she physically struggled to hold herself back from just simply accepting his help. With a strained voice, she lowered her face out of sight and muttered aloud "He... has one...!" as her strained hands trembled and slowly clenched in front of her.
It was more charity in such a short span of time; she didn't like that, but on the other hand, what she'd be getting is the card - directly, not a booster pack - and it seemed like it was free; how could she turn that down? "Mmmnnnghnghnghnghngh~...!" Her head shifted in various directions, over-debating things with herself. She considered just giving in, but she, stubbornly, didn't wholly want to.
"Doku...."
.... ....
"I want to say no...," the girl said sternly, raising her head into view..., "---h'but I don't wanna say no~!" said the girl in a wimpy, partly laughing tone, swaying like a whinny brat.
Her mouth hung open like she had more to say, but she was silent for a few seconds, holding her breath and calming her body down as a thought entered her mind.
.... Finally exhaling, she put up her hands to give in to Doku's offer. "Okay. If you find the card, I'll owe you for that." not wholly giving in, but giving in, nonetheless. "But for right now, I wanna knock out two birds with one stone. So let's duel...!" Rina began with a bit more focus and stability. "You keep helping me out, and it feels weird not giving anything back or do anything for it. And I also want to get in some practice with Dyna Base - if I draw it;" she shrugged, "that's the main reason. You probably want to throw in your new card, too. So!" Rina extended her finger to make a point. "If you're up for it, we can start in~... 5 minutes? ---So I have time to change things up a little. If you win, I'll give you any 5 cards in my trade collection. That'll be my thanks for the cards, and helping me get a job, in advance."

Doku needed to learn... "Rina Speak" could be hard to figure out what she was saying, thankfully her body language made it easy. Doku would blink and watch Rina have a bit of a crisis about what she wanted to do. Doku would take a step back, letting her have some air. "Rina..." He said in response to his name being said, that being said he wasn't sure what she wanted.
Regardless she finished up what she was trying to say. "Just take it-" he looked towards her, raising his eyebrow. "You're my friend. Is it really weird to just... give you things?" He laughed but soon. "You don't owe me. I promise." He didn't want Rina to stress about 'paying him back' so he was going to shoot down that as quickly as he could. "A duel? Sure! Uh. My actors..." He nodded and walked over to an empty table, laying out his deck on the table, there he would start editing his deck to fit his new cards. "Any 5- Well how about... loser pays for dinner next time we hang out?" He would laugh, not wanting to take cards away from Rina but still wanting some small stakes on the duel. A friendly duel wouldn't be fun if the friend wasn't wanting to take things away. He would listen to Rina's response and he shuffled out some of his ratios with the new cards.
