Duelist Points: Earning and Spending
Duelist Points (or "Duel Points" or "DP") are awarded for certain posting criteria being met. These points can then be spent to acquire or change a number of things.
The purpose of this post is to explain a bit about how to earn DP and what it can be spent on.
Details are subject to change - at which point, a notification will be sent.
Earning DP
DP can only be earned through roleplaying in some way.
By default, you'll automatically earn DP based on your word count per RP post.
Beyond this, any bonus DP that you wish to earn must be brought to the staff's attention by posting a "Forum Request" on Discord.

The following are what you can earn DP from:
RP Thread CompletionEarn bonus DP when the thread/topic you're in reaches its conclusion.
For canon "Standard" threads, you earn a bonus of 50 DP per post; for "Event/Arc (C-Arc)" threads, you earn 100 DP per post.
For non-canon threads, you earn a bonus of 40 DP per post.
(The last post in the thread - OR the beginning of the thread title - MUST state that it has concluded; DP request must be made within 7 days of the thread's completion.)
Specialty DuelsAn additional 1500 DP can be earned by the duelists participating in and concluding a non-standard duel in the RP (with a minimum of 8 posts in the completed RP thread).
(Tag Duel, Speed Duel, Rush Duel, etc.)
NPC-HandlingSomeone wants to RP and also use an NPC(s), but doesn't want to play as them?
Earn an extra 500 DP for playing as a Non-Player Character in a completed thread (using a character account that isn't being used for a character in the same thread).

Stunt DuelingIf a user doesn't feel confident about their ability to duel for their character, or would just rather have someone do it for them, they can look for someone to be a Stunt Duelist who would use that exact deck and duel in their place, OOC, on the duel program that the competitors agree to.
Once a script/replay has been chosen by the requester and the opponent, the requester must inform staff, and then the Stunt Duelist - you - earns 1000 DP from the requester, which goes to your character account of choice.
If there is a dispute, two of the three involved users (requester, stunt duelist, and opponent) have to inform the staff, and provide a recording/replay of the duel with visible proof (ie. usernames during the duel) - something to make it clear who's doing the dueling.
Spending DP
By putting in a "
Forum Request," you can spend your accumulated Duel Points on various things, including "Traits" - also known as "skills" - which are meant to be more permanent than the rest of the items offered here.
Certain items require you to spend DP from a single specific character account, while others don't mind if you divvy up the total between multiple character accounts.
Keep an eye on what
DP Payment Account option is available for each item.
- "User-Wide": Can use DP from any of your character accounts OR can be divvied up between your multiple character accounts of choice when paying.
- "Character": Must use the DP from the affected character's account.
Deck Change Request (2,500 DP / 4,500 DP if you have the "Second Deck" Trait.)Want to replace (one of) your current standard Deck(s)?
-If you own only 1 Deck: Overwrite your current Deck with a new themed Deck.
-If you own "Second Deck": Target 1 of your current Decks: It is treated as your current "Saved Deck." (You can only have 1 "Saved Deck" at a time.) A "Saved Deck" cannot be overwritten. Also, overwrite the other Deck with a new themed Deck.
DP Account Payment: Character
Dorm Change Request (5,000 DP)Want to have your character move to a different dorm for specific classes (IC)? It's quite the process to up and move out of a dorm building, but it can be done - only during the Fall/Autumn or Spring time frames, once per school year!

Stunt Dueling (1,000 DP)If you don't feel confident about your ability to duel for your character, or would just simply rather have someone do it for you, you can look for someone to be a "Stunt Duelist" who would use your exact deck and duel in your place, OOC, on the duel program that the competitors agree to.
Once a script/replay has been chosen by you and the opponent, inform the staff, and they'll take your 1000 DP to give to the Stunt Duelist's character account of choice.

Community Arc (C-Arc) (8,000 DP)(2,000 DP for members older than MAR. 2022 the 1st time they use it [until DEC. 2023])
You don't have to wait for a staff-run event or story arc, y'know.
Create your own! And if you complete it, you get your DP rebated/refunded back to you!

DP Transfer (Fee: 500 DP)Got a lot of excess DP in an account or two and not enough in another? Wanna transfer some over to the lacking account?
For a fee of 500 DP, you can do just that!

(Can transfer DP from one or multiple of your character accounts into 1 of your other character accounts. Fee must come from 1 account.)

Character Slots +1 [TRAIT] (4,000 DP)Increase the amount of characters you can have! The default maximum is 2; you can purchase upto three to increase your slots to a maximum of 5!

Duel Spirit [TRAIT] (2,000 DP)You form a bond with a duel spirit that can be portrayed however you choose.

Duel Ability [TRAIT] (8,000 DP)Gain a special IC or OOC ability that you can use before or after a duel!
Maximum 1 Duel Ability per character.

Alternate Card Name (3,000 DP for 1 playset) (2 playsets, max.) [TRAIT](From the FAQ)

- If the custom name is there to give an existing monster a "better," less generic name, I can accept that.
(The card will be treated as a version from elsewhere in the world - user's choice.)
- If the custom name is there to treat it as a separate monster with the same stats and effects, I can accept that, too.
IN BOTH CASES, there are some rules to follow:
1.) The new name cannot add, remove, or change its archetype name(s) if it has any. It/They must remain intact.
2.) These changes mainly only apply to roleplay-writing (In-Character); mechanically, the names are not changed for the actual playing of the game - and if your opponent doesn't have a problem with it beforehand, the custom artwork being used in the dueling software is fine, too.
3.) All cards with names changed in this way will have the following text: "(This card is always treated as X)," with "X" being its original name in the TCG/OCG. (A catch-all rule of sorts)
4.) All changes (name and art) must go through the process of a Request on #forum-requests and be approved by an Admin.
5.) There's a limit to the number of cards you can change: 2 unique card names per character, max.)
(Note that I won't guarantee an approval of the name change, but hopefully, more often than not, we can work it out.)

Alternate Card Art (3,000 DP for Unlimited Playsets) [TRAIT](This is assuming others cannot see your art in the duel program you use; if they can, this will change.)
Pay DP to allow one of your character to have/own/use your custom card art in the RP! (Kind of like a cosmetic thing for IC purposes, assuming the above.)
(You can reference/allude to the card art without this trait, but for the character to have/own/use the card with the art, you must have this trait!)Must abide by the site rules!
Must have an in-universe reason for having the alternate art cards.
