Rina didn't realize that the dual-wield skill was so unbalanced in the previous game; it was enough to raise her brows and slack her jaw slightly in surprise. A "Wow...," sounded with barely a motion of muscle visible. She wondered if they - the company - fixed the power of dual-wielding, or simply pushed back the overpowered-ness to the end of the game when the enemies are super strong. She didn't spend too much thought on that, however.
------------
Doku explained their current class dynamic together, and what kind of tank-y class he had in mind. Hearing 'Paladin,' Rina envisioned a handsome, youthful, white-haired knight clad in regal white and gold armor; they were like the Rank-Up version of the Warrior class. Beyond what she learned from Doku, that was all she knew about paladins. Listening to him speak, though, it really did come across how much he liked the Rogue class. You'd almost think he was lying about his regret for not choosing a paladin.
The more she thought about his love of the rogue, the more she could relate..., in a way. When the redhead first understood her style of dueling in the world of Duel Monsters, she realized that she preferred the opponent knowing as little as possible about the cards in her deck. She liked using face-down monsters and trap cards to surprise the other duelists and throw them off their game. Watching others being caught off-guard by her unexpected card effects and seeing them wrack their brains to find ways around her defenses gave the girl a sense of accomplishment. She enjoyed the indirect offense that came with such a strategy, and in her eyes, it was akin sneaking up on someone and striking them from behind. But in addition to all that, watching a duelist adapt or learn to be more flexible, instead of making excuses or complaining, allowed her to see who the real duelists are - and such individuals put her heart and mind in a good place when all's said and done.
Since those days, however, the game had changed a bit and her strategies weren't able to keep up. She had to learn to use more offense-oriented decks, but it didn't quite feel the same. And because of that, on her off time, she continued to learn and theorycraft a way to bring her original deck back into the fold so she could enjoy that feeling again.
------------
As they conversed about the After-Image skill, Rina quipped "Fsh'Yeah right; that I'll have to see to believe...!" referring to the enemies not seeing him, adding "If they actually don't notice you, this'll be a pretty easy game - but I doubt they'd screw that up that badly," as she pulled up her Inventory and worked to finalize what she would keep in it before they set out again for their next quest or story beat. Seeing all of the shields Doku had reminded her to clean up her space and sell some things.
She thought the getting-over-small-gaps thing was cool, but she couldn't imagine the monsters not seeing him at any point - at least, not if he was attacking them; but if the double-damage was able to be a thing in the last game, it was possible for essentially invisibility to occur here, perhaps. If it worked, the fights would be much easier on them, one way or another: either by simply attacking the enemy without taking any damage due to the enemy attacking the after-images, or by Rina being targeted and possibly killed while all that is happening. Either way, it'd be a funny memory to look back on.
"I can duel wield just about anything when I unlock it! So I can technically use two staffs or two bows..." Two bows? How did that even work? A bug? Probably. "But I'll stick to daggers, I like accuracy" He would explain. "Playing the Paladin in the older games makes you miss a lot and it's really annoying... being a big brute who misses can be fun sometimes though!" He really knew a lot about this game huh? It would go to show just how big of a nerd he really was.
Thanks to the mass selling of his junk, Doku was a very very rich Rouge! Well, not until he spent it all on some overpriced dagger that would be power crept in three hours. That was the best... With that, Doku would purchase said knife, selling his old one, going back down to about 5,000 gold to his name. It wasn't much, but hey, his knew knife was... 3 points stronger at least.
Doku was really curious how much money Rina's character had, was the mage's equipment as expensive as the rouge? He didn't wanna ask, at least not right away. He would make sure to peek at her inventory when he could! Sure it be a lot easier to ask, but Doku had to make things complicated like that!
"I'll make sure to show you when we get into a fight!" Doku would have to make sure he remembered to show it off. "Well yeah, the stronger the enemies the more likely they are to see through it." He would read through the description of his ability, it was a good couple paragraphs long.
"They don't hold back with all this text huh?" He would chuckle, finishing up the description. "But hey, I'd rather it be specific than vague in it's description"

The redhead was visibly confused when he uttered 'two bows,' but it didn't linger long as Doku continued to explain things to her - or maybe it would be better to say that her expression changed to one of a different type of confusion; from a 'how' to a 'why.' Hearing that paladins whiffed attacks didn't sound right to her. Right!? Who would think that these holy knights or whatever couldn't hit their targets? That was the confusion that stuck with her a bit more.
Before long, though, a realization occurred. "Doku, have you played as all o' the classes? Like, all of them," she inquired - just to make sure what she thinks she understands is correct or not.
---------
The young man agreed on the point that stronger enemies would likely see through the after-image skill, to which Rina chimed in with "Right!? And at this point in the game, they've gotta notice you at least once - or something." But of course, that still left more than a fair chance for the skill to work out in their favor; would be fun to see once he gets it.
As Doku noted the length of text, she eyed them, too, nodding in agreement with his sentiment that followed. "Same...." She then hissed under her breath as she cracked her neck softly, "but yeah, it's long...," A moment of comparative understanding then entered her thoughts. "But I mean..., if Duel Monster cards can have long effects, what's stopping them from doing it, too, right?" In her mind, if people are willing to read long card effects, gaming companies probably think they'll read long descriptive text, as well, treating them as lore or something.
----------
Not having fully dealt with her inventory, Rina felt that she was ready to continue on. Her gold currently wasn't as plentiful as Doku's, as she didn't sell much and bought more things. She was naturally a hoarder in games, so unless she knew for certain that something was useless for the entirety of the playthrough, she wouldn't get rid of it.
"Okay, I think I'm all set. Good to go? Any side quests to pick up, or did you grab some, already?" she asked, remembering having seen some from the residents along the way.
Doku would feel his cheeks heat up in embarrassment. He nodded his head quickly, "Yeah..." Man. Why was that so embarrassing to him? I guess it was him not being use to having a friend that was also into gaming? He would soon focus back on the game. She had a point, reading wasn't something against reading, he liked looking at the text and figuring out how to exploit the loopholes. Doku checked his quest log, shaking his head, "Nope. No quests I think we're ready to get going" He chuckled a little bit. "You got anything good?" He questioned, curious if she had a quest she found interesting. "Not sure what we're going to do next" Doku was kinda stumped, he wasn't sure what he wanted to do they had finished all the easy quest in the area so only secret quests were left.
He would look at Rina's character, she really had gotten stronger in such a short time of them playing the game. Rina went from a simple fireball shooter to an actually well... mage. He would put that on her getting familiar with the controls. He was curious to see how she was gonna build her character going foward.
Rina shook her head. "Nnh-mm - just the ones I saw on the way here. You checked them out, right?" From what he had said, she assumed that Doku opted not to grab the quests that she noted to him earlier - the ones she found throughout the city that she couldn't accept, herself, being Player 2 an' all. Then again, it was entirely possible that he didn't remember to check them, too. The redhead knew nothing about secret quests, so the thought of those that she ran into possibly being secret quests never even occurred to the girl. She just let the assumption that he didn't need those quests be her baseline thought.
-----------------
"That's it for the side quests, right now. Beyond those, I suppose we'd be going back to the main quest," Rina noted, as that was often the case when side-questing. She went to look at the main quest to remember what it was, again.
Doku would once again scroll through his quest log, making sure he had finished everything. Yep, all done for now. "Yeah we did everything on the way here!" He chuckled lightly closing his menu. "So I think we got most of the side quests done!" He would finishing his last minute shopping before leaving the shop. Nothing else to do here, so time for the main quest?
"Looks like the next main quest is in that volcano not far from here" He would pull up the map and point towards it, it seemed like a rather difficult area, though thanks to their over leveling from side quests it would be a fair bit easier, while not a cake walk, they would have an easier time.

"The volcano?" She looked over as Doku pulled up the map. She, too, was fairly certain they could handle the area - at least, for the most part. "Ah~. Alrighty!" she chirped, as she was ready to roll out! Her character dashed for the exit of the store and jumped out of it once she opened the door, creating her first step towards the next chapter of their travels. "To the volcano! Where our legend hopefully doesn't burn to a crisp!" The mage waited out there until the rogue was able to catch up to her. Their next destination was set; now to make the journey and find out what sort of demonic creatures awaited them!
Time was catching up to the redhead, but she internally decided that she could handle at least making the trip to the volcano and likely anything that may happen in-between.
Thinking about the volcano and its monsters got her thinking about her deck that she was struggling with. She wanted to work the kinks out and balance it, but wasn't sure what exactly to do about it. Building the deck around one of her favorite monsters was having the strange repercussion of having multiple ways to craft it, but nothing brainstormed seemed to work as well as she liked, and she was contemplating what to do about it. "...Blaze Fenix and Volcanic Doomfire.... ...." As their characters marched on, Rina took a side glance over to Doku. ".... I wonder if he'd...."
Her eyes returned focus to the screen and another few seconds passed by....
Out of seemingly nowhere: "...Hey Doku, ...if you had a deck with an ace that was hard to summon, what would you do?" after a pause, she explained, "I mean, ...---So I have one..., and for me, I feel, like, If I focus too much on trying to summon it, my deck suffers from having no room for defense and stuff - but if I don't build the deck to try-hard summon it, I'll rarely every get to use it. ...Have you ever had to deal with that?"
Ace Monster: "Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird;" "Volcanic Doomfire"
Doku was all stocked up for the volcano! He had water bombs ready to throw, plus some more items he could lob around to do some of that water damage. Hopefully Rina knew a couple of water spells, but if not he was sure she could out damage to enemy's resistances. Doku would follow his mage companion, towards their destination! It would be a somewhat mundane walk, no real landmarks stood between the town and the destination.
While the game walked for him, Doku would scroll on his phone a little bit, memes and some random articles. Nothing really, though as Rina called out for him, he raised his eyebrow. "Huh?" He would listen to Rina ask him for deck advice. "Hmm. Well I've used some weird plant cards, some weird synchros..." He would tap his chin thinking about an answer. "Use your favorites! If you put that at 1 copy in your deck you won't draw into them a lot, you could have them as options?" He would suggest.

"Have them as options...." She thought on it for a second. ...Was he saying not to rely on it if it requires too much of a focus? He wasn't saying to get rid of it, so maybe the path of not seeing it in play often is the more correct answer, then. "...Yeah.... But then I'd need some other cards to rely on, wouldn't I?" she thought aloud as they continued to walk. "Mnnngh, but then it feels like those cards are my aces...; not the feeling I was going for.... Aaaugh...!" Rina threw her head back, eyes closed in thought, believeing that her character's safety would persist at least a while longer. ".... I dunno~.... ...."
Her head then snapped back down, facing Doku. "---Know any Extra Deck goodstuff for Fus---? !! Huh?"
Rina's eyes glanced back at the screen "...?" then back to Doku. "How are you even walking right now!?? Is there some auto-moving thing in this game??"
Ace Monster: "Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird;" "Volcanic Doomfire"
Honestly, Doku probably wasn't going to help you create an ultra powerful deck, but hey, friends help friends right? Ah, As Rina talked more Doku started to realize what she meant. He tapped his chin thinking about an answer. "Oh well, maybe find an archtype that can mesh well with it?" Doku didn't know what monsters she was talking about. "Or you could play some traps to stall the game out, until you can punch with your ace monster!"
She cut herself off, but Doku understood what she implied. He nodded looking at her again. "Oh, yeah, if you pause and click auto navigate it'll walk to you, saves me some time. I don't have to walk myself!"
Fusion goodstuff? Well Doku knew quite a few cards. "Verte..." He shook his head, "No he's banned. You could try branded fusion! Or Alister the Invoker!" He explained. "Wait, what card are you trying to make?" He raised an eyebrow curiously.
