"Right!"
In the game, Rina the mage entered the cave. Spotting three goblins near each other, she considered not trying to attract all 3, but knowing that Doku was waiting in the shadows, she quickly got over that thought and figured that this was a good time to see how strong their first enemies would be. The mage raised her wand towards the center goblin and began her quick, indecipherable prerequisite incantation, opening the floodgates of her magical energy. It only took a second, and once it was done, she was able to begin her spellcasting.
"Firiz!" Hearing her, the goblins stood to attention. As they readied themselves to engage the human girl, A fireball quickly formed and grew in front of Rina's wand as she used additional energy to keep it from launching before it was sufficient. Reaching roughly the size of a fist in one second, she released her hold on the ball of flames, shooting it at her intended target, bashing it in the chest. It staggered a bit with singe marks left behind, but still seemed well enough to try and fight back. Seeing this:
"Firiz!! ...! Firiz!! ...!"
As the center goblin began moving forward into a charge, a slightly larger fireball hit the leftmost goblin, then another hit the one on the right. Neither of those stopped the center goblin's advances, however, which Rina could only respond to with running away. "WawawawaWAWAWAAA!" So much for testing their strength.... The goblin was too close to attempt another firiz spell, and soon, the other two were also hot on her tail as she weaved around the area trying to keep away from the first. She changed her mind pretty quick on taking their attacks and ran with all of her might, soon remembering to try and set up an opportunity for Doku to ambush them - hopefully before she's attacked or catches the attention of other creatures.
Man. Rina was REALLY into the game? Nothing wrong with that, Doku found it funny. He watched her character run around, drawing the agro. Maybe... Doku should have picked the knight class? Or maybe later Rina could become a hybrid mage tank? Well, that was a problem for another time! Doku's character would sneak up behind the Goblin in the back. He backstabbed the "runt" it quickly fell. "Aw yeah! Crit!" a satisfying impact sound played as Doku's damage was doubled!
Now he went for a second unseen backstab. The second was also a crit! Now it was time for the final Goblin. The one previously struck by Rina's fireball. It was stronger than the others, after Doku backstabbed it, it quickly turned and swung its ax at the thief. Thanks to Doku's agility, his character managed to dodge a couple of the swings, taking a bit of damage from the final hit of the flurry.
Doku held the controller tightly, thinking of what to do next. He hoped Rina could cast some kinda spell to finish off their last enemy for that sweet sweet sweet EXP~

With the beefier goblin distracted by Doku's attack, Rina got some distance before she attempted her own. Another Firiz was cast, as it was the only spell that she mastered! The fireball struck the goblin's shoulder; not enough damage to take it down, but enough for it to take notice of the mage. It chose to direct its attacks at her, now. Wondering why this goblin was stronger than the others, she began to query if this was a MINI-mini-boss. Before the goblin could get too close, she fired another fireball, striking the the creature squarely in the face. It staggered before keeling over, defeated.
...It was finally over. ".... Haaaugh[sigh]. ...That was more than I was... expecting..., but I feel good about it...." Rina began to feel a bit more confident in her battle skills, having assisted in the goblins' demise.
Rina jogged over to Doku to regroup. "You good?" she asked. "I saw you got hit earlier." She was unaware of how miniscule or severe the damage was. "I have something if you need healing." If he wanted, she'd grab one from the pouch around her waist; if not, she'd nod in acknowledgement and glance about.
Before long, she began to browse this area of the cave. "Let's see if any chests are hidden around here," hoping not to be surprise-attacked by more goblins somewhere. "Search-y search...."

Oh yeah! They defeated the monster. That sweet sweet victory charm chimed which was soon followed by a short catchy jingle! LEVEL UP! "Hell Yeah, We leveled up!" Doku chuckled. His character learned the ability to 'Steal'... how original. His little completionist brain dinked. He was happy to see his numbers getting bigger~ His character was getting stronger. Level 2 down! 98 more to go... they sure had a long way to go. Who knew how last they'd reach it, maybe they'd find a sweet sweet metal Kuriboh! That thing was rare but if you could kill it, it gave you HEAPS of EXP!
Doku nodded. "Yeah I leveled up~ That full heals you!" Thank goodness that was a mechanic, it meant they didn't have to worry about potions much, but still, you couldn't go without healing... Doku chuckled. "I'm glad we beat them, they were a little bit rough..." He chuckled and nodded, as he began exploring the cave. There were two conveniently placed chest! Doku quickly opened the right most one, leaving the left one for Rina. As Doku quickly pulled out the dagger inside! It was an upgrade from his other one!
If Rina were to open the chest, she would find a staff also an upgrade. How... convenient?

"I thought they'd all go down in one hit; that last one surprised me," Rina replied as she, too, browsed the cave. Going into the treasure chest on the left, Rina found a new magic staff. Comparing it to the one she has, the redhead chose to use the newer one with the better stats, sticking the older one in her bag. "Know what'd be funny:" regrouping with Doku, "if the first new weapon was intentionally worse than what you start with. ...I wonder most people would do if they weren't expecting it...." Her bluish eyes scanned the ground, hoping for more loot - and maybe getting lucky enough to find the old lady's ring; she doubted that it'd turn up so easily, but you never know what you might luck into, sometimes. "I wonder if they'd equip it out of habit... ---or maybe, like, ...'expectation?' ---Since it's the first one. ...I dunno, I think it'd be funny to see it happen."
Heading down the progressively dingier cave, it became harder to see anything small. Shabby torches barely lit the way forward, and much further down, "! ...," Rina could barely make out a silhouette near some torches behind a very large rock. She didn't want to let her guard down, right now, as anything could still happen before they get there, but her curiosity took hold of her eyes. The redhead slowed her forward movement to compensate.
".... Hey," she pointed over to the boulder with her staff, "...think that's a boss or something, back there?"

Doku chuckled. "Must have been an elite enemy or something!" he rubbed his neck planting his hand on the controller once again. Doku also would equip his new dagger. Her hypothetically was funny, yet relatable. "Well, I know that pain, but nowadays I'm really good at looking at the stats!" He explained shifting through his inventory, using his old dagger as a duel-wielding weapon. "This starter knife actually lets me use it in my off-hand without losing any power!" He explained. "Usually you get a penalty, but daggers don't do that~" he chuckled, attacking the air. "Now I got double the stabs~"
"Oh! A boss~" Doku's eyes glistened! The first battle! It was gonna be so grand! Or... at least he hoped. So Doku quickly rushed into the shadow. Once he got a little closer, the silhouette was now visible. There stood an Ogre with a hefty club, it was... HUGE. After a roar, the music started.
The ogre swung its club around wildly, smashing some rocks near it as an intimidation tactic. Soon Doku's character used his new skill, "Smokescreen" he was out of sight after gis character threw a smoke bomb. "Okay, now blast it with those spells!" Doku said. "I'll try and chain some crits together!" Doku just HAD to rush in. What kinda rouge went in guns a-blazing.
"A---!" With Doku rushing in and triggering the boss fight, Rina ran up to his side - just as he used his smokescreen to vanish. It was then just Rina, alone, before the bulky beast.
Hearing Doku's instructions, "Got it!" the mage went in for the attack! Keeping her distance, she stationed herself and managed to get in a firiz attack before the ogre lunged forward and attempted to slam his club over her head.
"---!!" Rina gasped in surprise and tried to dodge to the side, but she was too slow to react and took most of the hit. A whole quarter of her health was smashed away! "Agh! Whoa what!? That hurt!!" She figured the attack was so damaging because it was a boss fight - and she was only partially right; it was also because the mage class had a physical defense stat that was much lower than normal, meaning that physical attacks hurt her more than they would a regular adventurer. "No more of that, please, thank you...! Yikes...!"
Either way, Rina understood what was now obvious: keep further distance, and prime her dodging for those lunging attacks.
"Let's try this again...! I'll ready 'im up!" Putting more distance between herself and the enemy boss, she launched another few fireballs over time while circling around that ogre as it calmly stalked her. "Alright, get 'im, boss! Get 'im good!" The elite ogre's heavy steps kicked up the dirt under itself, readying itself another long-range attack as it laughed its deep gurgling laugh.
Ace Monster: "Blaze Fenix, the Burning Bombardment Bird;" "Volcanic Doomfire"
Man, he sure was reckless. But hey, what good thief didn't rush in at the sigh of danger! Doku didn't really care that he left Rina alone. I mean this wasn't some MMO where if they died in the game they would die in real life. The thief watched carefully as Rina went to cast a spell! Though with the swing Doku gulped seeing his partner's health drop! Yikes that thing was strong.
"Damn, don't be afraid to use our potions!" Thankfully they shared an inventory, at least for healing items. "I kinda regret not picking warrior!" He playfully chuckled, but soon moved his character behind the boss. His character also had pitiful defense, so he couldn't take a hit. That dexterity boost he got was nice though.
Once the ogre slammed down at Rina with it's steps and it wild club. Doku went for the backstab! It was a guaranteed crit if it landed! "Come on rnjesus..." He crossed his fingers! His character went for the stab! Just hoping it would do some damage.
Hopefully if he hit the ogre in the back, it would drop aggro from Rina! Letting the mage fire at it while it's looking towards Doku~ They'd have control over both sides of the giant creature!

With the ogre's back turned to him, the backstab connected! A lucky critical hit to boot! Compared to the individual hits Rina dished out, that backstab was like four firiz shots in one!
"---!! NICE! R.N. Jeeesus! Coming in clutch! What a Chad!" She imagined the ancient picture on the net of Jesus winking and pointing.
The sheer amount of damage it took in that one attack definitely got the boss's attention; aggro switched over to Doku. and, with it turned away from her, "Heal-heal~...!" Rina pulled out a potion and healed her HP. During that process, a thought came to mind. In her head, she imagined an amusing scenario playing out and wanted to see if it could be replicated in this game or not. Healed up, the redhead mage rushed slightly more to her side - just several steps - so that she was near-directly behind the behemoth - and adjusted for the changes in its positioning if Doku moved about.
A smirk on her face as she began the test. "Time to turn up the tempo!" She raised her wand once more. "Firiz Metronome!"
A firiz blast! A firiz blast! A firiz blast!
Timed, repeated blasts of her firiz casting gave a rhythmical feel to the shots on the ogre's back. They were let loose as fast as the casting would allow. Focusing on the rhythm, however, she wasn't paying attention to damage Doku was dealing with each shot to see if he was still holding aggro or not. She subconsciously hoped that he wasn't, but not being the target of aggression's nice, too, so she wouldn't complain.
After a few more seconds, the giant ogre roared and began to glow a bright red!
Doku whistled at that satisfying critical hit sound effect. The big damage number flashed! Critical Hits always felt soooo good. Stealth attacks for the win baby! Doku twirled his knife, before going for a second slash attack, unfortunately, thanks to Rina's rapid fireballs. She was out bursting Doku, which meant she was getting the bulk of the agro for the time being! Oh no... darn Aggro!!!
Doku was a solid DPS, but burst damage simply out damaged him. Hopefully, he could get the aggro on him once again. He wasn't very bulky, but it was better than Rina getting hit... Doku didn't even know you could spam cast like that! He shook his head quickly, the fight was at hand! A good chunk of the both's health was shaved off!
Ah hell yeah! The Ogre was ignited! It was gonna take damage over time! The ogre was mad now... not only was it ignited, but it also became enraged! It could attack twice as fast and its attacks were strong! They had to bring the fight to a close soon!
Doku went for more slashes, mashing that attack button as fast as he could. (Which wasn't going to speed things up). But hey, it felt like it was helping. The ogre was roaring again, as it swung it aimed for Rina, it was a lot less controlled, easier to dodge, but it would swing again after the first, regardless of the first landed or not.
Doku didn't have anything to say, he was focused on the game. He zoned in and tried to hit any weakspot the Ogre had.
