Ah yeah! Finally the weekend! Though, to be fair, Doku had lost a duel just the other day it was starting to look up! He finally had time to play this new game he bought when he met Rina at the store! The fourth best selling rpg in Japan! It was time to get playing! Though there was one thing he was missing, truth be told, after being crushed by the vending machine he lost his wallet, but did he realize it? Not yet. What was in it? Money, some cards, and his student ID. Pretty importnat stuff honestly, hopefully it would show up.
Doku turned the lights off and shut the blinds! Perfect darkness~ He peeked into his mini fridge, grabbing a soda and than grabbing a bag of candy! Was it a healthy weekend? Nope! Was it fun? Most certainly.
Slipping the disk into his computer, and with that the game booted up! A flashly animated cutscene flashed, along with some jpop! Oh yeah! Doku was ready! However, before he could click start on the title screen, he heard a knock on his door. Quickly he stood up, opening his door, blinded with the sudden light caused him to cringe and squint heavily.
"Y-Yeah?" He asked the person on the other side, trying to get his eye's adjusted to the sudden light. Unsure of who was on the other side.

"O-Okay, sorry to bother-"
WHAM!
"...Geez, someone's shy. And I'm the girl in the boys dormitory hall," Marcy remarked with a disappointed sigh. She placed her right hand back onto her hip while looking down at the wallet with her left. 'Doku Shi', as the wallet's ID card said was the owner, may have been missing a few dollars from when she got thirsty on her search and bought a drink. Hopefully he would take the hand-written "IOU" stuffed in its place where the cash was. (He did say he'd get me stuff if I won, though, right? Still feels kinda bad to just take it, especially when he left it. I think we're friends now, so my coupons should still work!~)
Knocking on the door, she snapped the wallet shut and turned it around so that the outside face was facing the door. As Doku opened it, she smiled and gave him a small wave. "Hey! Is this Doku Shi's dorm? He, uh... Kinda left a wallet after we dueled, and I thought I'd come give him his wallet myself! If he's home, just tell him Marcy's here. He'd probably get that... Oh, and tell him that a rematch probably won't happen today. I, uh... Had a bit of an issue involving a hair dryer, apple juice, and Frightfur Daredevil. Long story, but my deck box is drying, eh heh.~"
Doku heard that voice, Masumi?! What was she doing here? Was she here to ask him on a date? Probably not, but hey, it was good to see a friend again. His eyes had finally adjusted, looking at Masumi from his little goblin cave. Doku rubbed his eyes a little bit, before the light finally made the purple haired flirt visible. "Oh- Uh! Hey Masumi, you're lookin cute today!" Wow... starting with that, really? Cracking the door open a little bit more, hopefully she wouldn't question why the light's were off and the only light being from his computer's screen.
"Oh shit... I didn't even notice my wallet was gone!" His cheeks got red, hating to admit it. "Apple Juice??" Doku questioned raising a brow before shaking his head before getting an idea! Now was his chance. "Now that I have my wallet back... How about we go out to lunch! I can pay for it to repay yah!" He liked that sound of that~ Though, he was unsure how she would respond.
Since he left his computer running, the opening cutscene began playing once again, full with the loud Jpop! Oh no... the female singing her soul out echoed through Doku's room. The purple haired boy, quick rushed over quickly quitting the game! Masumi couldn't know he was a nerd! Anything but that!

"Lookin' cute? Really? Huh. Do the boys always look at girls like that then? Seriously: I asked around here tons looking for your room, but they all just kinda looked at me. Made me think something was on my face the whole time, heh!~" she sighed in mild relief. Fortunately for Doku, this one in particular was dense enough to overlook the obvious attempt to compliment her like an admirer. Sure, Marcy had the looks to draw some attention, but her real growing reputation as a heartbreaker came from her incredible ability to shut people down into the friend zone while seemingly not even realizing she was doing it. it was frightening how someone could be that shameless about it, with no clue whatsoever as to what was happening.
Crossing her arms with a curious headtilt, she tapped her right foot in anticipation. "I'm good on lunch, really. I ate before I-" she began, only to be cut off by the loud J-pop from Doku's computer. As the boy rushed over to shut it off in a frantic hurry, she could feel the shoulder angel and shoulder devil's metaphorical argument...
(Go in his room! There's probably reeeeeally cool stuff in there!)
(No! It's his privacy, so we can't!)
(But cool stuff...~)
(...Okay, I'm kinda curious. Cool stuff it is.)
"Ooh, whatcha got in here? Feels cleaner than my room, that's for sure!~" she idly commented before slipping inside and attempting to flick the light switch next to the door on.
Wow, Masumi really was something else huh? Shame Doku was pretty determined, so he would try really hard to dig his way from the dreaded friend zone. Man, he was dumb. Aw man, his suggestion for lunch failed, yikes.
Now that the game was closed no more crazy jpop would blast! With a heavy sigh he turned to face Masumi. "Yeah, my sister sent me this video, guess it accidentally pl-" He was cut off as he felt the light suddenly fill his room! It burnt!! Feeling all the rays of light fill his eyes dazed him for just a few moments.
Those few moments would be just enough for Masmui to get a good clean view of his room. It was actually quite clean, his bed was made and his floor was clear from junk. The most noticable things were the giant bookshelf filled with various manga and video games. Not to mention a body pillow... on his bed.
Doku rubbed his eyes breifly. Quickly heading for the body pillow, grabbing it and stuffing it underneath his body. His face a bright red. "H-Hey Masumi! What are you doing in my room?!" His computer sat on a desk, his desktop wallpaper was also very much nerdy, it was an animated one of an anime girl. Goodness, he had a LOT of explaining.

To say the room was cleaner than Masumi's room was an understatement. For being someone with such a go-getter attitude, her organizational abilities were subpar at best. Empty instant ramen cups and candy wrappers littered her counterspaces, comic books and class syllabi that she didn't read were draped across the floor, and her dresser mirror was covered in black construction paper. The last one wasn't a tidiness issue, but it didn't do her any favors in the interior design department. "Whoa-ho! Now that I'm lookin' around, it's totally better than my place! You've actually got, like, floor space and everything! Honestly, any cleaner and I'd feel a little uncomfortable, heh,~" she remarked with a nod of approval. Either Marcy was the most innocent person alive, or she didn't seem to mind the body pillow all that much. The jury is still out on that.
Before she could say anything else, however, her eye caught the bookshelf: the manga, to be specific. With a shocked gasp, she hustled over to it and plucked out a book with a mix of delicacy and speed that would put a surgeon to shame. "No... Freakin'... WAY. You actually like stuff like this?! This is... Th-This is..."
"...SO FLIPPIN' COOL!!"
As she rapidly flipped through the pages, her mouth ran at a mile a minute. The words "limited edition", "author's signature", "backstocked", and "lost episode" were somewhere in the jumble of words, but with how fast she jumped from point A to point B, it was nearly impossible to reign her in. Fun fact: Masumi was also a nerd for comic books including manga. The issue in particular she chose showcased combat between two giant monsters in a metropolitan port city. "Oh my gosh, I had no clue you liked this kinda stuff too! I got a collection like this at my place too- OH, OH! Let's trade sometime! I've got some stuff any self-respecting collector would totally drool over! You even take great care of the pages: not a dog-ear in sight! This collection of yours is amazing, Doku!~"
Safe to say she's impressed, and definitely not focused on whatever Doku dove for dear life to cover up. How convenient!
Doku was freaking the hell out! Here was a girl he liked snooping around his room! Oh the humiliation!! He scurried after Masumi, but she was five steps ahead! She was darting around the room! Doku was glad she didn't comment on the body pillow... why did he even had that? Maybe I'm an evil god who wants to punish him.
He saw her move towards his bookshelf! His livelihood! At least she was delicate. Doku quickly watched as she read it. "Hey!!! Be careful! That's the limited edition 10th anniversary special!" He didn't snatch it from Masumi, but he was super nervous as she turned the pages. Please don't crinkle the page, please don't crinkle the page!
Oh no... was she about to make fun of him for looking comics?! Wait... she liked it?! Doku was blown away?! What in the hell was going on! He though girls didn't like nerds! What was going on..?
"Y-Yeah I do buy this kinda stuff!" he explained. "Maybe I could see your collection sometime?" He asked, what kinda stuff did she read? It was interesting to meet someone who liked what he liked!
Hearing her call his collection amazing caused him to melt a bit inside. Goodness that was a huge boost for his confidence! Thankfully he managed to stuff his... less modest manga under the bed.
With a sigh Doku sat on his bed. Looking at Masumi as she checked out his collection. Was it time to embarrse his nerd side. He pointed to his PC. "See that? I was playing that new JRPG!" he explained.

"I'd be insulted if you didn't look at my collection at this point! Weirdly enough, not a lotta girls actually read tons of manga like I do. People back home used to call me a tomboy or whatever 'cuz of it, but it didn't exactly stop me from keeping up with my collection. Occasionally I sell some of it for extra cash when I want something, but only the stuff that I know probably won't appreciate well over time. Reprints and whatnot,~" Marcy elaborated before gently placing back the book she picked up into its slot in the bookshelf.
Doku's momentum would come to a screeching halt when he mentioned JRPGs, however. So much for keeping up the pace and impressing her in one shot. "...Meh. Boring. I don't play a whole lotta video games. The only one I got really into is this one phone app. It's... Sorta like Duel Monsters? But also not. But also is. I, uh... Really like Duel Monsters. It's complicated," she continued on with an awkward rubbing of her right elbow. Obviously anyone that went to Liberta "really likes Duel Monsters", but Masumi in particular was a little self-conscious about how she felt about the game. Oftentimes people would remind her that she's got a Deck where her brain should be, and it won't stop shuffling. Translation? She's thinking about Dueling at all the wrong moments.
But what was the harm in that? Almost everyone did it, and it was a great way to get to know someone. Even their archetype(s) of choice (or lack thereof) showed leagues about who someone was right off the bat. The first year considered it a form of speed friending, as naive of a mindset as that was. Moving to find a clear spot on the wall, she leaned her back against it and brushed her hair to the side with one hand. "That's not... Y'know, weird, right? I-I get that a lot, really. I came here telling you I didn't bring my Deck, yet here I am blabbin' on about Dueling! So is it really weird? Go on! Lemme know, really! Promise I won't hold it against ya, I just wanna know.~"
So, Masumi had found a common interest it seemed~ Something for Doku to try and bond over! T-T-T-Tomboy... Doku quickly snapped back to reality. Doku nodded. "Reprints don't really affect the collection price, a collector will always want the first edition no matter how many reprints it gets" Doku explained. "I'm more of a casual fan, but I DO have some really valuable manga!" He walked over towards the shelf, pulling out one manga, it was sleeved, covered up with a seethrough plastic to protect the cover and book as a whole. "This is the first chapter of Monster Slayer!" It was a somewhat mainstream series, "It's signed by the author on the cover and it's the first audition, so it's gotta be worth a lot!" With that, he slid it back onto the shelf.
So she wasn't really into video games? That was weird, most people into manga liked video games, but oh well. "Oh, I play that one." He pulled his phone out, pulling open the game, before handing his phone off to Masumi. This was his chance!!!
"Maybe you should put your number in, we could play together sometime..." he awkwardly laughed, hoping things went well. He'd soon take his phone back, sliding it into his pocket. "No, it's not weird..." he chuckled being nice to the girl. "You could always use mine if you wanna duel!" he chuckled making a suggestion.

With a solemn shake of her head, Marcy crossed her arms in disapproval. "Oh, THAT copy of Monster Slayer. The copies with the author's signature are worth a bit, yes, but the misprint on the title of another edition that made it into 'Monster Salyer' is where it gets pricey. It was through the publisher where the author interned at before publishing their own works, right before their first and only mistake cost them the rights to be the original publisher for following issues! Aaand lucky for me, I happen to have one of those very copies... In a heavy safe, right next to my passport and my life savings. It's a no for showing it to you: I have it in blackout film as well as a sturdy book cover to prevent color fading from light sources."
Interestingly enough, that was a very cautious stunt to pull for someone like Masumi. When it came to her own personal safety, she took leaps for the thrill of it: but when it came to that comic book she just described? A complete 180 into an overly cautious failsafe. Taking Doku's phone, she punched in her number... Or, at least, what she intended to be her number. The 3 and 6 keys were right next to each other, and one small margin of error meant that the serial's 4th digit was off. Being impulsive and careless when it didn't come to her comic book hobby, she didn't even bother to check twice to ensure it was correct.
"Huh? Whaddaya mean 'use yours'? You mean, like... Cut your Deck and use half? I dunno, that doesn't seem very solid of a plan there. Not like the Extra Deck can be cut like that, y'know?" Masumi pondered with a small headtilt. It was times like these that she hated her own clumsy tendencies: getting a rematch to prove she could take him one-on-one would have been great! "Unless... OH! Wait, you have two Decks or somethin'?! I think I only saw the Plant-type one, right? What was it called again...? 'Uh-no-mages'? Something like that..."
