Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
Doku let Masumi read through his card, he leaned backward in his chair, trying to open his fridge without getting out of his chair, what a lazy bum. This, unfortunately, didn't go well... falling back a thump, was heard. "Ow..." Thankfully Doku was okay. He stood up, grabbed his drink, and sat back down. He opened the soda can, taking a sip before placing it on the table. "Ignore that..." he rubbed his head awkwardly. Doku shuffled his deck as well, placing it back on the table.
Thank God Masumi's duel disk didn't let her duel like that. She would without a doubt knock something over... A... mind game? Well no... but Doku would let the girl have her fun. "Yep! Mind games are important for a duel!
Doku would take note of her plays, damn... Madonna and Curtain Raiser? Impressive. She watched her slide his card, (thank god he invested in some protective sleeves...). Wild Hope as well? Her starting hand was strong, though he wasn't sure how she was able to pilot the deck that well...
That was something he hated without a duel disk. Instead of sifting through our stack of cards, you could just... get your card dispensed. Damn, she even knew the best card to search. Doku would give Masumi a quick clap praising her for her successful summon.
Not only did she summon three monsters, but she also had the life point lead, he really was impressed. Plus with the script in her graveyard, she could recycle it later. Plus Sassy Rookie was good to hold onto.
"I'm Impressed Masumi~ I didn't know you had a thing for the theater~" Doku being... well Doku, cracked a smirk. "Maybe... we could go to one together~ They're a lot of fun~" He shook his head, grabbing his can and taking another sip. "But you did really good~"
Doku put the can down, grabbing the top card of his deck, drawing for his turn. "Since you're learning, I'll go easy for you don't worry!"
He took a look at his hand, he really could make some good plays with this, but he was gonna hold back so she could learn.
"First things first, I'll use terraforming to get my Aroma Garden!" He sat the card he just got into his hand onto the field. He waited... but nothing happened. "You know, I was waiting for the flowers and all of that.. but no solid vision... Just... use your imagination"
"First, I'm summoning Jasmine in attack position, and I'll use my garden to gain 500 life and boost my monsters by 500 atk and def! Now, since I gained life, I can draw a card thanks to Jasmine!" He drew another card, it seemed he wasn't using paper or a calculator for life points, showing his affinity with math, he was gonna do all his life points in his head. "Now, since we have the same life points, I'm gonna activate a second garden!" He sent the first to the grave and placed a second. "I can gain another 500! I finally have the lead, so Jasmine's second effect activates. If I'm above in life I can normal summon twice!" Doku took advantage of that right away, slamming down Evil Thorns. "This thing let's me tribute it to inflict 300 points to your life..." He paused for effect. "If he only did that he would be lame, his real strength is letting me summon out two copies of him from my deck!" After slowly searching through his deck, he placed the two additional copies on the field. "Now! I link the circuit, I use one Evil Thorn and Jasmine to make..." He pulled out his link monster from his extra deck, placing it (roughly) in the extra monster zone. "I use Jasmine's effect, I can tribute a monster she points towards to summon out a plant from my deck in defense! I'll go with..." he quickly flicked through his deck for the monster he wanted, summon classic Jasmine out. "With my field spells she's 2900 defense and my link monster has 2800!"
He was gonna use this battle phase to teach Masumi another thing about Pendulum. Doku tapped his link monster, before tapping Masumi's curtain-raiser, "So, he goes face up in the extra deck instead of being destroyed, so you can pendulum summon him back out to an extra monster zone!"
Doku smiled, "Welp, go ahead!"

Grunting and frowning at Doku, Masumi crossed her arms with an annoyed glare. "Hey! Don't go easy on me 'cuz this is my first time or something! I can totally keep up without all that help, thank you very much!" she complained like a child whining about a toy. Doku's turn was rather uneventful in her eyes, if not a little disappointing. (This is his Deck, right? Then he should know all the stuff about how to beat it! And he's telling me that's all he could really do?! Ooh, he is SO not taking me seriously right now!) she ruminated over the gesture, taking a bit of offense to the idea of him taking it easy on her. Anger wasn't her color, but whatever she was feeling at the moment blended so well with pride and passion that it felt more fiery than anger could ever be.
"That's a lotta defense you got going on, and even though Curtain Raiser's exited stage left, I'm gonna show you my stuff now! DRAW!" she shouted again, making a dramatic pull from the Deck to add Abyss Actor - Extras to her hand. Her eyes scanned the field: Doku left her Abyss Actor - Superstar and Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna. (Two Level 7 Pendulum Monsters... Wait! That's right! Melody's book in the library! It said something about Xyz Summoning, and how it's normally used in Decks that have easy ways to bring out monsters of the same level! If Pendulum cards can bring out two Level 7 monsters like that super easy...)
Marcy picked up the Extra Deck at her disposal and withdrew a singular card. The metaphorical cobweb-ridden cogs in her head were turning like a well-oiled machine for once, and all of the checkboxes were marked now: summon conditions met, powerful enough to make a play, and an effect that can turn things around harder than the swing of the pendulum. "Somethin' tells me you shouldn't underestimate me, pal: I'm pulling out all the stops now! I overlay Level 7 Superstar and Mellow Madonna to call upon a dragon of darkness to rend heaven: Xyz Summon! Come to me, Dark Anthelion Dragon!!"
For how anticlimactic the summon was, Masumi didn't seem to be so imaginative as to marvel at her own success in another foreign summoning technique. Dark Anthelion Dragon was an Xyz Pendulum Monster, which she didn't ask about and seemed to get. "Then let's go! I activate Dark Anthelion's ability! By detaching an overlay unit, Aromaseraphy Jasmine loses half of its Attack Points, then Dark Anthelion Dragon gains those lost Attack Points! In case 'going easy on me' means math isn't gonna happen for ya, that means you're at 1400 while Dark Anthelion Dragon goes up to 4400!"
"And just to really layer it on, I'll pull out Mellow Madonna's Pendulum ability next! By paying another 1000 Life Points, I can add another Abyss Actor Pendulum monster from my Deck to the hand!" she declared, rapidly scanning the Deck for any sort of gut feeling card that could widen her lead. One in particular caught her attention, and without hesitation, she snatched it up and revealed it. "Say hello to Abyss Actor - Evil Heel! Nobody likes a heel... But fortunately for this bad boy, I'm 'nobody'.~"
She then tapped Wild Hope, then Mellow Madonna to declare her effect targets. "Next up, Wild Hope raises Mellow Madonna back up to 9 once more! And without further ado, I'm swingin' for the fences again! Pendulum Summon!"
"Time to cause an upset, Abyss Actor - Evil Heel!" One monster summoned.
"Give it up for Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie!" Two monsters summoned.
"Raise it up again, Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser!" Three monsters summoned: the third being from the Extra Deck. Seems like Marcy can be a fast learner when she gets serious. In fact? One could argue she wasn't very happy with Doku at all at the moment. "And going back to that upset, here comes the harshest one of all! Evil Heel's effect activates when it's Special Summoned, where one monster you have loses 1000 Attack Points for each Abyss Actor I control! Doesn't matter about adding that up, 'cuz Jasmine's losing everything!"
"It's showtime! Dark Anthelion Dragon attacks Aromaseraphy Jasmine! You have more Life Points than I do, so it won't be destroyed... But that's just fine! 'Cuz you're taking 4400 points of damage since it has no Attack Points to block this!" Masumi called out, moving quickly to keep up her momentum. Her headstrong nature culminated to being too impassioned to even wait for any comment or remark about her plays. "Next, Evil Heel attacks Aromage Jasmine! I remember that when an 'Aromage' monster is destroyed, you gain 1000 Life Points thanks to Aroma Garden, but that's the perfect time for me to chain Evil Heel's other effect! Since it destroys Jasmine, I can set Opening Ceremony from my Graveyard again!"
With that play, the Life Points swung back in her favor in a massive way. Doku was able to add Rose Fairy to hand as a result of the Life Point gain, but it was of no consequence to her at the moment. "Sassy Rookie attacks Aromaseraphy Jasmine to destroy her! You gain 1000 more Life Points again, but it's worth every bit to chip away at your defenses and your total!" she declared with a serious hum and a nod of approval.
Sliding down one of her two cards left in hand, her other hand tensed up into a soft fist. "Since I haven't Normal Summoned this turn, I'll add Abyss Actor - Extras in Attack Position for some backup. After that, I activate my re-Set Abyss Script - Opening Ceremony to add 2000 more Life Points to myself, putting me at 9200 to compare to your 4900."
"...I end my turn. If you're gonna 'take it easy on me', then at least keep it to yourself, dude. Otherwise I'm gonna show ya why I don't take pity points from anyone. Not in my entrance exam, and not now."
THAT comment seemed a bit abrasive, especially from her. Likely a touchy subject.
Doku did feel a bit bad, it seemed Masumi was taking this duel seriously! Did she not reliaze this wasn't a real duel?! If Doku had wanted he could brought out his ace monster last turn. Well... guess Doku knew for next turn. Though he was excited to see her follow up.
He took another sip, though, hearing say 'overlay' caused him to spittake. WHAT. He forgot that she had his extra deck! Before he could even say anything Masumi was already going off. Cutting his monsters attack, and setting up for a pendulum summon, with a scale 9 and 2. She summoned, not 1, not 2, but 3. Wow... she really did pick up fast... but maybe she was taking this way to seriously.
Damn... he took a lot of damage, if this was a real duel, he'd probably fly back dramatically! But... tabletop, he that wouldn't happen. He picked up Jasmine, putting her in the graveyard. "You took the words out of my mouth! I'm gonna go with Rose Fairy since Jasmine let's me search a plant!" He showed the monster to Masumi, before placing it in his hand. Thankfully he still had 4900 life points to spare for his turn. But this would be a hard duel to turn around.
He listened to her rant, a bit. He felt pretty bad, hopefully he could twist this around in his favor? Maybe he'd offer to buy her lunch. Wait, Doku was trying to take her to lunch to apolgize? Not some weird date idea? Man, he really did see Masumi as a friend.
"Alright! I'm bringing out, Lonefire Blossom." Placing his monster in attack. "I can tribute a plant to summon another from my deck. I'll bring out a second lonefire" He summoned the second in defense position. "I'll use this card. I can discard Angelica, she let's me gain life points equal to an Aroma monster in my graveyard! Gimmie 1800 for my serapyhy!" He thought about his next move. "I'll set a card and than Link summon, Link 1 Sunavalon Dryas..."
Ugh... if only he could get a stronger field, but with such a gap in life it would be hard. Hopefully Blessed Winds could get some of his plays going.

As startling as her knowledge on Xyz and Pendulum Summoning was, her ignorance as a whole was genuine. "Oh, come on! You're still totally taking it easy on me, dude! Not cool! Sunavalon Dryas has, like, no Attack points! Sure, you're gonna get a ton of protection here, but it's not gonna be enough to stop all the damage coming your way!" Marcy whined like an upset child. To her, his plays seemed so short that it felt like punches were being pulled yet again. Even if going on the defensive was a wise play on his part, the message it sent to her didn't bode very well. "Fine then. Since you're not gonna try, I'm just gonna have to finish this off soon. Draw for turn!"
Abyss Actor - Leading Lady. Not bad. While 'Supreme King Dragon Dark Rebellion' or 'Majespecter Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer' would have been nice to bring out, she didn't have the levels to do so currently. Nonetheless, it did allow for some extra damage to go out. "I Normal Summon Abyss Actor - Leading Lady to my last free Main Monster Zone! Soon you'll learn to dread the term 'hit like a girl' once she's done with you: Battle Phase time!" Masumi continued on, shuffling her hand with a laser focus on her field as she continued. "Abyss Actor - Extras attacks with Group Gang Gainer!"
She did not anticipate the reveal of Blessed Winds: at the cost of 1000 Life Points, Doku was able to summon Aromage Jasmine from his Deck at the cost of 1000 Life Points. It was more damage than she would have inflicted with the attack, but knowing Sunavalon's effect was useful for deflecting, it was worth it for him. "Fine then. I'll call off my attack and let Evil Heel take the stage! Attack that Defense Position monster!" she continued on, sliding the card gently forward to signal her attack. Jasmine was destroyed, and just like before, those 1000 Life Points were restored without a hitch.
"A minor setback, but at least that Trap Card can't save you again due to its once per turn limits. Abyss Actor - Leading Lady attacks you directly with Primetime Payback!"
Another chain in response: this time, Sunavalon Dryas' effect nullified the damage and summoned Sunvine Healer. She sighed in annoyance as it hit the field right behind its predecessor. "Ugh, stop stalling already! If you're not gonna try, then just lose faster or something! It's no fun when you're just putting up a bunch of walls without swinging back! Sassy Rookie attacks Sunvine Healer to destroy it and deal you damage, then Dark Anthelion Dragon attacks you directly!"

"I end my turn again. I'm winning by a lot... But it sure doesn't feel very good knowing that somebody's babying me instead of me actually doing something right here! I-I can totally take it: it's not like I got into Liberta 'cuz of a technicality or anything!" Masumi bitterly remarked, crossing her arms with a disappointed scowl to the side while her tone betrayed her. The trail off at the end had a much softer approach than her earlier comments.
---FLASHBACK TIME BABY WOOOO---
"...My turn is over."
"Wha- H-HEY! Whaddaya mean 'my turn is over'?! Come on, don't do that! Attack me!"
"Your set card is 'Polymerization' and you have 200 Life Points left with no effects ready to go. I'm not going to-"
"W-Well, no one else is going to hold back like that! So why are you?!"
"Ugh, it's because- ...Masumi Satori Sakamoto, this is the seventh rematch in the past hour that you've asked for. I don't want to just keep-"
"Well, you should! You promised you'd take one day off the day before my test to help me practice! So what's wrong?! You pinky promised! No take-backsies on a pinky promise, Dad!"
"It's not right to see you-"
"To see me what?! To see me actually trying to get better?! This is one of the few days you're home, and you're giving up-"
"BECAUSE IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO WIN TOMORROW, MARCY! YOU'RE TERRIBLE RIGHT NOW!"
"Gh-!"
"We've been doing this for almost an hour and you've lost seven times! I'm exhausted from work and you've only got this to show for that practice time you wanted?! I've been holding back this entire time because if I was trying? I'd beat you in half the time. Maybe even on my first turn. Those other kids at Liberta are going to demolish and embarrass you, even if you do somehow pass that entrance exam! It's a tough school to get into, and you're barely at the intermediate level as you are! Sweetheart... Are you sure you don't want to stay home tomorrow? I don't want you to waste time over this."
"..."
"...I-I surrender. I just remembered I need to- ...Do stuff. Important stuff."
"Masumi, I didn't mean it like-"
"N-No! It's fine. I'm gonna go find other ways to practice! Thanks. Just... Go back to work or something, 'kay? You do that a lot anyways, and I'm just keeping you away from it. I'll be fine. I don't wanna waste more of your time waiting for me to figure it out. I'll pass on my own."
---FLASHBACK TIME OVER BABY WOO---
She did not pass on her own. The written exam was a disaster, as were her proctored duels. Her feedback report was full of red ink and red X stamps, with discouraging comments. The ride home was silent, and self-loathing reigned supreme. The mirror showed her the face of a lost cause, and having things being 'taken easy on her' only helped to prove that. (Oh geez... What am I even doing right now? He's being super nice letting me use his Deck and teaching me Pendulum Summoning, but here I am being super sour. I really must be a rookie if I can't even remember that sportsmanship's in the freakin' rulebook for crying out loud.) she pondered, bowing her head slightly forward and taking a few deep breaths.
"...L-Look, man: I'm really, really sorry about all that stuff, okay? When things get complicated, I get a little angry, a-and sometimes when I get angry, I say things I don't mean. You're being super nice right now helping me out, a-and I'm not being a very good study partner right now is all. It's, ah... I-It's your turn."
Man... Doku was just digging himself into a hole huh? Truth be told, Doku wasn't holding back. He just bricked pretty bad. He just wasn't sure what to do- She had a big old field and he was losing. He watched as she entered the battle phase. "Now! "
Flipping up his trap card! "Now I pay 1000 life with Blessed Winds! It lets me bring out Jasmine! She can tank an attack~" He kept his poker face, Doku wasn't known to frown. "Now that Jasmine is gone, I get 1000 back, she paid for herself!"
"I'm still not out! When I take damage, Sunavalon Dryas can make me gain the damage I just took! As well as bringing out Sunvine Healer! Giving me even more life points!" Doku sure could stall. That was for sure... he managed to hang on with 2900 life points. Hopefully, this would be enough.
It seemed she really was worked up over him holding back. Doku did feel a bit of pity. Well... here he was teaching her Pendulums. Maybe he should try and help her improve?
"H-huh! Oh. It's okay Masumi..." He said, in a soft voice a small smile formed on his face. "How about I uh. Keep being your study partner, I can help you with your dueling! Though... you'd probably help me more than I help you." He suggested trying to be a good friend. Though he hadn't had a friend before, that was normal to say right? Ugh, Doku was just confused, but he was trying to be nice.
He drew a card for his turn. This was his big play! He drew Rose Girl! "Okay! First I'll use Blessed Winds again! Jasmine is back~" He placed Jasmine on his field. "I'll gain 500 with garden, buffing up jasmine and drawing a card!" He drew another Garden, not bad, it could make his monsters even bigger. "I'll summon Rose Fairy in attack position! and I'll use Sunavalon and Jasmine to link summon another Seraphy Jasmine!" Placing the card on the field. "Since a plant I control was sent to the graveyard. I can bring out Rose Girl! She's a level 3 tuner!"
"I'll use Jasmine's effect to tribute Rose Fairy and bring out Majoram!" He searched and summoned out Majoram in defense. "With a level 5 and level 3... I'll synchro for...." He quickly looked through his extra deck. "Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend!" It was a big old dragon synchro. "His effect destroys all special summoned cards with less attack!"
However... Masumi chained Dark Anthelion halving his dragon's attack... so... the effect fizzled. Doku sighed. "Damn it... I'll attack Leading Lady with Jasmine..." His Archfiend's attack dropped even lower.
"Your go..."

Masumi tilted her head slightly to the side with a confused look. "Uhh... You're doin' what now? N-No, that's not- Wait, ME?! Like... You want me to be your study partner? As in, like... You think I can help you?" she questioned, pulling her knees up to her chest after resting her card in hand on the table face-down. "L-Look, that's nice and all, but maybe I'm not the best-"
(Wait. Shoot. That was him trying to cheer me up, wasn't it? C'mon, don't be such a stick in the mud again, Marcy!)
The first year cracked a small, uncertain smile in response. "...O-Oh. Okay then, I guess. If you're so sure, I'm not complaining. Let's get on with the game at hand first!~" she perked up again: though it was obvious the reply was slightly forced, at least she wasn't so mopey for the time being. Doku's turn began, and she was mostly quiet observing the field of play. He seemed excited about his hand, so if he could make a big play, he seemed intent on doing so. His backrow held no hazards for her at the moment, but that wasn't the most pressing of matters when his combo began. Bringing out another Jasmine brought in Marjoram, plus Rose Girl the Tuner Monster.
('Tuner'... Wait, that's right! Tuner Monsters are used for Synchro Summoning! You take other non-Tuner Monsters, then 'tune' them with a Tuner to bring out a Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck! Aromaseraphy Jasmine doesn't have Levels, so it can't be used for this. If he Tunes Marjoram with Rose Girl, he can Synchro Summon a Level 8 Synchro Monster...)
Her thought process was right on the money, and her heart momentarily sank as Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend hit the table. Its effect destroyed any Special Summoned monsters with less Attack points than itself, meaning the end for a good chunk of her monsters...
...
"...Hey, wait a minute! I think I got it!" she exclaimed, snapping her fingers in realization and tapping down on her Xyz Monster. "I chain Dark Anthelion Dragon's effect onto your Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend's effect! By detaching another overlay unit, Dark Anthelion halves your monster's attack and adds those lost points to its own! Furthermore, Sassy Rookie isn't destroyed the first time it's going to get blasted by battle or a card effect, leaving just Curtain Raiser to return face-up to my Extra Deck! How's that for a fancy play?~" she boasted, pleased with herself for the ability to play through the potential game-changer thrown her way. Despite being the genius that didn't understand Spell Speed in class, she seemed to have a good grasp on it now with Quick Effects to protect herself.
Doku's first attack targeted Leading Lady with Aromaseraphy Jasmine, which she gladly took.
MASUMI: 8700 LP >>> 7900 LP
"Not bad, but this one's mine! I activate Abyss Actor - Leading Lady's effect! In case you wanted to try taking a swing at Sassy Rookie next, I can reduce Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend's Attack points even lower: how much lower? Well, since I took 800 points of damage from that attack, it loses 800 Attack points! She might be sent to my Extra Deck, but what's a star without one last hurrah?~" Masumi elaborated, smirking with pride at her defense. But it wasn't over: Leading Lady had another effect that she found interesting as well.
"After that, when she's destroyed, Leading Lady allows me to set an 'Abyss Script' Spell card straight from the Deck! And the one I choose iiiiis..." she trailed off, scooping up the cards and rapidly flipping through them. One card in particular caught her eye: she didn't read the text at first, just thought the picture was funny-looking. But as Marcy read (big surprise that she actually could at times), choosing it felt like just the right plan. Satisfied, she shuffled the Deck again and revealed her chosen card. "Not all tales end in happily ever after, and here's one: 'Abyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King'! I can't activate it since it's just a normal Spell card, but it'll come in handy reeeeeal soon!~"
Doku chose not to attack with Scarlight: not like it would have done very much damage anyways. "Right! My turn: draw!" she enthusiastically declared as if nothing had changed from the beginning of the match. There was the joy and vigor in her style that had charmed many, even if her habits and game knowledge were questionable at times. "I activate that script I set during your turn! Since I control 3 different Attack Position 'Abyss Actor' monsters, I can target and destroy three cards on your field! Let's get... Everything but the Field Spell! Give our main man a royal round of applause!~"
Aroma Garden would give Doku 1000 Life Points back, but it was nowhere near enough to cushion the blows from her field at this point. Nonetheless, Marcy had enough energy to the point where a bystander who wasn't paying attention would think this was a comeback story. "And with that, actors: prepare for your final bow! Dark Anthelion Dragon attacks you directly! Right behind it is our golden boy that stole the star's spotlight for our special feature: sick 'em, Abyss Actor - Evil Heel! Flashy Foil Finisher!~"
DOKU: 3400 LP >>> 400 LP

"Aaand that's a wrap! Wow, this whole Pendulum thing is really fun! Xyz was great, too, and this time I got to see a Synchro Monster that didn't OTK me! This was a great match, Doku: I can see why you like these guys!~"
Doku facepalmed a little bit, soon nodding at her statement. Though, before he could say anything, she took it back. The purple-haired boy cracked a light smile. "We'll get super strong together!" He would chuckle, leaning back into his seat. He was still dumbfounded she was able to use Dark Anthelion like that... though, Doku felt a little dumb, I mean wasn't he supposed to know what his OWN cards did?
Doku couldn't lie, he was impressed and amazed with her play, plus her attack names were... a little humorous. She was really getting in with her theatrics. It always added more enjoyment to the duel. Well, with her final attack, their duel was finished. Doku just cracked a light smile towards his opponent. Grabbing his deck, he shuffled it, placing it back into his deck box. Sure it sucked to lose, but hey, he wasn't taking this duel serious it was just a practice game to win.
"You did good! I'm proud of you!" The boy said letting out a little yawn. "Thanks for offering to duel with me. I... don't really have friends to just casually duel with." Rubbing the back of his neck, it was a little embarrassed to admit he had no friends... but hey! Everyone needs some good character growth! He leaned forward a little, trying to reassure her. "I think you're more than good enough to go here...I don't care about some technicality~ You're a great duelist Masumi. That's not saying much though, since I'm not very good-"

The first year let out a dissatisfied groan with Doku's remark about having no friends to duel. The thought of that happening to her was frightening: online Dueling simulators were filled with... "Creatively toxic people" that tended to call you bad names if you used a card they didn't like. Before coming to Liberta, that would be her main way of practicing: not like she was ever the victim of such insults considering her skill level. "Aww, what?! C'mon, don't gimme that whole 'you're so great' thing, man: you're the one that built the deck, and you totally got people around now that you can do that with!" she encouraged him right back, tilting her head slightly to the left with a smile. "I'm always up for a rematch, if anything: prooooobably when my Deck isn't out of commission, eh heh...~"
"...A-Actually, now that I think about it, I think I messed up big time," Masumi bashfully confessed, her awkward chuckle faltering as she rubbed her elbow tenderly. That was another benefit of Duel Monsters for her, though: once that fire burned through her, thinking clearly and remembering things was a lot easier. She clasped her hands together and bowed her head, almost groveling from her seated position somehow. "My Deck's needed for class tomorrow, and I dunno if apple juice smell comes out of a deck box that fast. You, ah... Don't mind if I borrow this here Deck of yours again, do ya? J-Just for tomorrow, it's super-duper important! I'll take extra super-duper good care of it, no hair dryers or apple juice go anywhere NEAR it! A-And if it's too much I can find another one! Pleeeeeeeeeease? With sprinkles and chocolate syrup on top?"
Rule one of befriending Marcy: expect a lot of "little favors" that may or may not be huge ones in disguise. Rule two: expect a lot of sudden challenges. Rule three had to do with the fact that she crumples under pressure, but that one wasn't so clear-cut in this instance. Remembering those big three made it as easy as A-B-C to have her as a friend!
Doku waved his arm dismissivly, "No, No, I really do think you're great at dueling! You didn't know what any of my cards did, yet you piloted it super well!" He complimented her. "A rematch? I'd like that! I'll make sure to bring my A-game! I won't go easy on yah~" Doku chuckled lightly. Looking at Masumi. "I'll give your fluffles a run for their money!"
Oh no... Masumi wanted to borrow his deck? Well, they were friends. Weren't friends suppose to help each other out? Well, he nodded his head. Placing his Abyss Actor desk on the table. Letting out a heavy sigh. His eyes quickly shot towards Masumi, giving the girl a glare. "If you ruin my deck..." Doku warned her. "How about. I keep it in my room today. Then when it's time for your class, come to my room to get my deck. Once your class is over put it back!" He would explain, opening the drawer of his desk, pulling out a small key. "Here's the key to my room" He would hand it off to Masumi. "Just uh... put it back with my deck... okay?" He would ask.
"I trust you okay? This deck means a whole lot so you'd better take care of it!" Doku said in a calm voice. "You owe me for this~ Maybe we could go to lunch together or something~" Damn it Doku... he just couldn't help himself at a time like this.

The clumsy duelist froze up at Doku shot her a glare. (Uh oh: that doesn't sound good. But what does he mean "this deck means a whole lot"? They're just cards. It's not like they mean much of anything in general, right? You just kinda... Get them from your parents, or buy them yourself, I guess. I kinda just picked Fluffals 'cuz they're cute: they don't really mean much of anything. Plus you're bound to rip or soil a card or two every so often. So then what's up with Doku and these "Abyss Actor" guys? Hrm... Oh, shoot: he's staring. I should still be careful with 'em, just 'cuz he's a friend, and I don't wanna damage his stuff that he's being so nice in letting me use!)
"Huh? Oh! Uh... Y-Yeah, sure thing! Whatever you say, big guy. Ah hah..." she awkwardly trailed off, taking the keys and fiddling with them anxiously. Just looking at the deck box, it felt like a living, breathing creature she was tasked with taking care of. Like a pet goldfish, and he's going on vacation and can't feed it... But Marcy never had much luck with pets.
"So, uh... We good then? Gave you back your wallet, I'm coming back for your deck tomorrow, and we had a good match! All this thinking about a new mechanic is really dragging me down, so... Y'mind if I let you get back to, uh... Whatever you were gonna do before I came in? I still gotta apologize to your next-door neighbor for accidentally hitting him with his own door when I introduced myself- OH! And tell the rest of the guys that live with you here to stop being so weird! They just kept looking at me, and looked away all red-faced when I looked back."
