Akira is the type of man who would just as soon throw hands as he would cards. He's a headstong "hero of justice" type, one who'd stick up for people that need help, even if he wasn't asked to...especially if he wasn't asked to. But even though he can come off as intimidating, he still has a dorky side, such as his penchant to use summon chants based off of Metalfoes Steelen's flavor text, and how he goes gaga over food.
HISTORY
Not much is known about Akira's birth parents. In fact, he was found as a toddler in the back ally of a hospital in Roppongi, was collected by concerned citizens, and eventually put in the care of an orphanage in Kichijoji. In a few years time, Akira would grow to become infamous for sneaking out after curfew to wander the streets, each time, he would come back with his pockets stuffed with dirty and crinkled Duel Monsters cards. During one such escape, he met a gruff metalworker named Kojiro Tetsuji. The pair hit it off, eventually culminating with Kojiro taking Akira in and officially adopting him as his son at age 11.
Together, the pair would grow close as a family, Akira would watch his father work with glee, leading to his adoptive father giving him a headband to keep the sweat out of his eyes, and Kojiro would listen to his son babble on about the cool art on the cards he found. As luck would have it, Kojiro used to be a duelist back in his day, and as such gave Akira his old deck.
One memory in particular always stayed with Akira. His father would always leave a small display out in front of the shop, with all sorts of little works of metallic art to draw in customers. Unfortunately, troublemakers from a nearby high school would regularly swipe a few pieces. Kojiro would always wave it off like it was no big deal, but Akira, with his headstong attitude and sense of justice instilled in him by his father's teachings and various shonen manga protagonists, took it upon himself to do something about it. At age 13, that little shrimp stood by the display...and waited...and waited. Eventually, the usual suspects arrived. One reached for a miniature that vaguely resembled Red-Eyes Baby Dragon...and Akira smack the hand away...with a broom handle...hard. Unsurprisingly, Akira got beat down for this, but the art was safe at least. And so the next day, he did it again. And the next day, and the day after that. Every day, he'd pick a fight, and slowly he got better at that too. Eventually, the punks just stopped bothering the shop.
Eventually, the Tetsuji Metalworks would gain some amount of popularity, especially with tourists. They weren't famous, but they were happy. Then one day, Kojiro would be offered a job working in Silvershine, creating works of metallic art themed around Duel Monsters. While the father was wary about leaving the country like this, Akira heard of the various Duel Academies and emphatically begged Kojiro to take the offer. In the end, the father relented, and the Tetsuji Metalworks closed it's doors in Kichijoji.
After arrival, both father and son set to work. Akira in particular began sending applications with a fire in his heart. One such application stuck. Liberta Duel Academy.
The written exam...could have gone better. But his duels against the proctors landed him solidly in the B-Ranks of the Uniteal dorm
