PERSONALITY
LIKES:- Like Winning
- Like video games
- Like being challenged
DISLIKES:- Dislike Losing
- Dislike studying
- Dislike working with others
Shinsei is a very stubborn individual often butting heads with his fellow class mates and those around him, even more so when it comes to competitive environments such as the world of duel monsters. His constant drive to prove that he's the best puts him in situations that forces him to be challenged as feels he can't prove he's a top duelist if he can't be challenged. To him victory through bad luck, deception, or hitting below his rank is a disgrace and means nothing. For him an opponent that can't put him on his back foot is not a worthy opponent at all. But just because he likes being challenged does not mean he likes losing. To Shinsei the point of a challenge is to prove his skill, not to fail.
HISTORY
Shinsei was a first generation born Silvershine resident as both of his parents moved to Silva to progress their dueling careers, to no success. His parents did not fail their dream because of their lack of capability, but because his mother was with child. Shinsei's parents decided that a risky venture into the pro league would not be a good environment for a new born and ultimately decided to drop their dreams for the sake of their new child. Content with their choice Shinsei was raised in a caring environment. His parents worked hard to try and make a good home for him, but, by doing so, exhausted themselves on a regular basis and put a lot of stress on their shoulders. Shinsei couldn't put his finger on it, but something felt missing. Year after year the mood of the house shifted farther from a joyful and content house. But one of resentment and fighting. To start off as simple disagreement one year would turn into arguing the next, to yelling, to fighting. Shinsei thought it was just how adults acted, that everyone's parents had these moments.
But in early middle school Shinsei learned something that changed his life, an event that he could not escape from. Deep in sleep he was awoken by yelling from both his parents. Curiosity took hold as he got out of bed to head to his parents, to see what the issue this time was. Before he could reach them Shinsei overheard his mother say "I'm sick of it! Ok!? I work hard everyday too see nothing come of it! If we never had Shinsei we wouldn't be here!" Shinsei had no idea how to process what he just heard. If they never had him? Shinsei was stuck, unable to move his body as the yelling continued, his father spoke up "You don't think I'm angry too?! To trade away the opportunity to become a pro duelist for this dead end, soul crushing job! You're not the only one here who's frustrated!" Shinsei teared up feeling a mystery he always wanted answers for to finally be solved, just not how he wanted it to be. Returning to his room with a sunken feeling in his chest Shinsei couldn't handle the new information to him. That he is the reason for his parents being so angry, why they fight all the time. Maybe his parents would be happy if he wasn't around, that if he was not here to hold them back maybe they could be happy.
With his mind set Shinsei gathered many of his favorite belongings; his deck, stardust action figure, and skateboard. With full intent to run away Shinsei waited till his parents were dead asleep before making his great escape. Shinsei bolted out the house and headed down the road at the den of night. Hours later Shinsei arrived a familiar place to him, an old park full of old equipment for the kids as families came here to relax. But on this Saturday Shinsei was not here to relax, lost in his thoughts as the words of the night still ringed in his head.
After he walked towards the swing set Shinsei dropped all his stuff and just sat down, silent looking towards the ground with no plan of what to do next. The sun shined over the city scape, the grass blew with the morning wind as families started to come around enjoy the park. As the families just walked around the kids at ignorance blissed Shinsei started to seethe with anger as he knew the truth, what the parents really think of their kids, that they do nothing but bring misery just by their existence.
Lost in thought as time just passed him by Shinsei was finally broken from his own head as a girl walked up to him and said
"YARRRR! Whatcha doin' in the water there, land lubber?! There be sharks!' Heehee! C'mon, I'm playing Pirates! Wanna play?~" This girl around his age just randomly came up to Shinsei and asked if they wanted to play pirates. His faced mixed with confusion and sorrow could only look away. What was the point, Shinsei thought to himself. He wasn't too interested in playing with some random girl. The girl panicked as Shinsei gave no responds to her question and looked around for something. She noticed his deck box sticking outside his backpack and had the perfect idea.
"Hmm... Actually, nah. Pirates got boring a while ago 'cuz I usually just play by myself- Wait, waitwaitwait! Is that a deck box?! COOL! You play too?! Ooh, ooh! Let's duel instead! I'm good at that, let's go go go!~" Shinsei had no idea what this girls motivation was and did not care, but he figured if they played she would maybe leave him alone.
The two played a very quick game on the ground as the two didn't have any of the fancy duelist tech that generates the monsters like those pro duelist have. But even without it Shinsei could tell just from the opening play this girl had no idea how to play the game as she showed no understanding of even the most basic mechanics. Constantly having to tell the girl what she can and can't do, Shinsei managed to beat her without losing a single life point. Despite the one sided duel the girl could only smile as she said to Shinsei
"WHOA! You were like 'fwoosh', 'bang', 'pow pow pow' and I was like 'owie oof ouch'! Good game: you're really really good at this! I wanna be good at Duel Monsters like you someday!~" Shinsei knew he wasn't good, she was just really bad at the game. Before he could tell her off, two adults started calling over the girl. Her parents seemed to already planned to leave and was picking up their daughter. The girl picked up her stuff and started to rush away from Shinsei, but before she left entirely she looked back and Shinsei and said
"Hold on a sec, I'm almost done! Sorry, dude: my mom and dad are here. I gotta go... B-But hey! Today was super-duper fun! My name's Masumi! I'm here a lot on the weekends, so maybe next time we can duel again, or actually play Pirates! Sound good? Okay, see ya! Buh-bye!~"
She tried to think as she realized she never asked for his name. But before she could ask for it her parents called again causing the girl to panic once more and rushed even faster towards them.
Shinsei had no idea what that was all about but as he looked at his favorite card Shinsei started to get an idea. If his parents only thought of him as a mistake, something that ruined their joy then Shinsei instead of running away could prove them wrong. In the world of Duel Monsters, pro's take up the spot light as the world watched their duels filled with excitement. Their names known by everyone and icons for many others to follow. With a sense of purpose Shinsei grabbed his stuff and rushed home, his mind set on a goal.
After he reached back to his home, Shinsei opened up the door with no hesitation. His parents both awake; mom was pale as a ghost and his dad on the phone as he caught the end of the conversation.
"He's got red hair and green eyes, looks only about-" His dad paused as both of them looked at Shinsei with a mixed emotion of joy and anger. Shine's mom rushed him and grabbed him close tightening him close for a hug
"I was so worried about you!" His dads answer was less concerned and more frustrated as he hanged up the phone
"Do you have any idea how scared we were when we woke up and you were just gone! We thought you got kidnapped or something!"The two started to argue to ether or not to just be happy that Shinsei was safe and sound or to lecture him about his actions. But to Shinsei it didn't matter, all the mattered now was his new dream. The only thing that mattered in the end was Shinsei proving his worth, that he could stand his own and become something that would make both his parents happy they had him; to be the best pro duelist in the world. Sadly that same year his parents divorced with his dad moving towards the city.
Shinsei knew that in order to start his journey he needed go to the right duel school. Liberta Duel Acadamy, founded by none other than Seto Kaiba and house of some of the most prestigious duelist the world has ever known. If Shinsei was to be number one he would need to follow the path of the current number one. With a mind set and a spirit empowered by a drive for victory Shinsei prepared and worked hard for the entranced exam. With ease Shinsei aced both the written and the practical duel defeating his opponent in a single turn in complete and total overkill. With his total domination of the exam Shinsei was placed as a top A-rank student with in the school, his first step in becoming a legend.
