Zephyr stands at 5'6" and has short, wild, raven-colored hair with many bangs in front. Neck-length strands of hair pour down each side of her face; her left-side bundle is done into a small braid - partly because she thinks it looks cool. At first, she wanted to do both sides, but Zephyr would grow irritated and would not bother finishing. Before long, doing the one side became her style.
The girl has brown eyes that rarely show any pleasure or pleasantness - but that's not to say she can't be a pleasant person - when she wants to be. With a fair complexion and a small frame that masks a fair bit of muscle over her 120-pound body, Zephyr's a girl who can hold her own against most boys when it comes to throwing her weight around.

An honest girl who believes in herself, alone; that's all that matters to her.
A strong-minded, and strong-bodied individual; irritable and stubborn, but also diligent and reliable; she wants people to see that she's not naive, or someone you can just use. Zephyr would rather converse with guys than girls, for the most part, but conversing with guys comes with its own set of problems. Still, she likes to talk, and will continue to do so for as long as the topic interests her. Despite having a good mind on her, she
can be a difficult person to have a conversation with and won't take guff from anyone.
Zephyr thinks that she knows what's best - or what's right - for herself, and, sometimes, for others. She's always in the right and dislikes liars and people who don't know what they're talking about. Yet, if
she doesn't know what she's talking about, she'll maintain her stubbornness and ignorance, even when told she's wrong - unless a friend corrects her - in which case, she'll accept being wrong.
HISTORY
Zephyr Longe grew up in a small-town household with only her mother, Lana. She was a bright child in school, soaking in knowledge, and was taught self-defense once she was old enough to begin. Through these, Zephyr began to develop a silent ego, knowing that she was better than almost every other student in school, all-around.
During her early teen years, she had a physical altercation with two other students after enrolling into a small school at the edge of town. They saw a new girl and began to bully her at the unsupervised gate. Due to Zephyr's overflowing confidence in herself, her "physical training," and a mindset of doing things her way, once they instigated physicality, she took them down, one at a time, and laid untrained fists into them. Even though the raven-haired girl was also taught restraint, she had seen and believed enough television to know that bullies don't give up after simply getting thrown to the ground. In the future, they would return - and there would be more of them. Instilling fear was the only way.
One of the bullies tried to run away.
Picking up a sizable rock found on the ground, Zephyr torqued back and pitched a fastball into the center of the coward's back!
....
Of course, the kids' parents later found their children beaten up and wanted action. Zephyr plead her case, but she was still - rightfully - suspended. It was a huge blow to her ego, and she spent the time grumbling and mumbling to herself about how unfair the punishment was. In her mind, the principal was wrong to suspend her. The two bullies lied their way to partial innocence; her mom, devastated to hear of her daughter's overly aggressive side, didn't defend her 100%. Lana was very aware of Zephyr's temperamental quirks and argumentative side. However, actually using her self-defense to get into fights with others: she couldn't believe that, yet, at the same time, it was always possible, in the back of her mind.
That hesitation gave way to a compromised response to both the teachers and the parents. And from that moment, a part of Zephyr would die inside - just a bit.
Every time something wasn't right with the world, she'd be sure to note it - and complain to herself about it. She grew miserable and, eventually, antagonistic. In the process, she was slowly souring her relationship with her mother over time. Arguments cropped up more and more - mostly caused by Zephyr, herself. There was still a level of "knowing one's place," but Zephyr came close to walking that line on a couple of occasions. She knows she still needs her mom, but refuses to rely on her for anything she has a choice with. Seeing as her mother didn't want her to be working yet, she couldn't buy things - aside from using allowances or straight-up asking her mom to get it for her. Secretly, Zephyr wanted to move out, away from the stifling environment.
Amidst the brewing turmoil, she still required education and needed to decide on a location for her higher learning;
Liberta Duel Academy was Zephyr's choice.
But why?
It was back during the suspension when the girl happened to pick up the game of Duel Monsters.
She knew about it beforehand, seeing people duel in the streets and at hobby shops she had passed by, but at the time, she didn't find enough interest in it to actually play until this point. She had no social connection to anyone in the new school and had more time to brood over her awakening to "the real world." Rumors had spread of her assault on the two other teens; every gossipy student steered clear of her, and Zephyr rejected mostly everyone else that approached her who didn't absolutely need to. Dueling would become her route of conflict - a stress-reliever.
Her mom had incidentally - but knowingly - funded the activity through allowances. Thinking it would help Zephyr reintegrate herself "into society," she didn't put a stop to it. Schoolwork was more important to the mother, but it would all be for naught if another episode of fighting were to occur. After learning the game with the aid of a rulebook and various websites and forums, Zephyr only ever wanted to duel at public local events, avoiding duels with people forming a circle around her at school whenever possible.
At locals, everyone had tables they were mostly confined to, or a backlot with enough space for multiple duel disks to be used. The crowds were small in both cases - and mostly of people she didn't know. This outlet for a low-end form of accepted violence was comforting to her. Of course, she was on the receiving end, as well - for months. She would, at best, make it to the top 4, but would be halted right there - or sooner - being eliminated from a given tournament.
Through all this, Zephyr maintained mostly high grades for the next couple of years, only slipping a bit with courses she had lost interest in, such as [native language course here], due to forced book-reading, and Math, due to algebra. Despite this, her grades were good enough to qualify for the academy. However, the main reason for choosing Liberta was that it would allow her to live away from her mother. It was the closest school - with dorms - that was within her mother's price range, it still carried normal courses, and Zephyr could improve her dueling ability - hopefully to the point where she would come out on top against any opposition she would face. Through this academy, she could start anew, in a manner of speaking.
Her entrance exam wasn't too much trouble: she aced the written exam and defeated the majority of her proctors solidly. Based on her playstyle, she earned a spot in the House of Evolution, "Silvolver."
Once her first year starts, she intends on getting a part-time job, hoping to make use of its benefits (money) for her independence, once her time at Liberta Academy comes to an end. And while she'll be more inclined to give people a chance to speak to her, she would still be that girl who says whatever she wants, whenever she feels like it, not caring too much about the ramifications.
Independence is her primary goal. Beyond that she's not entirely sure what career path she'll take. She does, however, have "boxing," "cop," "military," and "law" on her mind, though. She believes that she's strong, quick, and limber enough to take down anyone - aside from super-heavy people and trained adults. She believes that as she trains and gets older and wiser, that will change.
