Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?

So we've talked about this a bit on Discord. Currently, we have 6 dorms (Houses), each one representing a summoning method or mechanic: 1 for each of the 4 Extra Deck monster card types, 1 for Pendulum Summoning, and 1 for Tributes (Tribute/Advance Summoning + Ritual Summoning).
Generally-speaking, all of the dorms are "on the same level;" they aren't tiered worst to best like the GX dorms were.
But does that matter to you? Are there too many dorms? Are the dorms fine as is? That's what this poll's about: I wanna know what you all think.
Personally, I would prefer something that has a broad appeal to most people - I think, at minimum, adding a tiered system to each of the Houses would be enough to do that - like having B(lower)-Class students and A(upper)-Class students. But overall, I think a non-summon-mechanic, more arbitrary tiered system would fare better, in the long run. (I went at length on Discord about my reasoning for tiers, so I won't bore you, here, but it basically makes conflict easier to get off the ground and potentially lead into something more personal for characters.)
BEAR IN MIND: I don't want to make dorm decisions based on a current or future member count; I want something that works with few members as well as with many members. Something that won't need changing, years down the road.
------ [BONUS CHATTER]
That said, because each house is based on a Summoning mechanic, if a new one emerges we may or may not adopt it into the RP - and even if we do, it probably won't be for several months to a year after its release; depends on what it is. More houses might suck, and if worse comes to worst, we might have to condense down to a few houses and lump groups together, or just not use summoning mechanics for dorms, anymore. I just want you guys to keep all of that in mind when you vote.
Now, while I voted for the alternate suggestion, I'm fine with keeping it as-is if it wins. My suggestion is to once again consolidate Pendulum and advance into one dorm like it was before. Maindeck prism, maybe? Advance Prism?
Now, those suggestions that were given before for how to handle the Extra decks...... I think I mentioned it before in the discord when it was brought up, but mentioning it again here. If you go with it, I think it should be restricted to non-archetype monsters. If said archetype has its own link monster(s) and is a synchro archetype, like with Aroma, then it should be able to use all the copies of its link that it wants.
For reasons for a tier dynamic, a suggestion is to implement a changing dynamic where every IC semester, we can change the rankings for them based on the amount of duels won? Maybe give handicaps to dorms with more members to have it not be constant domination. Like, 1 top tiered, 2 middle tiered, and 2 bottom tiered dorms? It'd also work with the duel team stuff we were wanting to implement before when I was staff with duelists with high IC notoriety get nicknamed, like "Uncrowned dragon king" or something along those lines, thats fitting for their deck, as it could be said that the ones with the most notoriety could be the ones directly contributing to that dorms rankings.

With the results of the poll in, here's what I take away from the findings:
- Overall, people are fine with the Summon Houses idea. - Overall, people want some form of tiered system. - 50% of voters seemingly want less dorms. - A proposed idea to bring back the Inter-Dorm Tournaments to have them affect the ranking of Houses.
===================================
So here's what I'm thinking:
1.) I can go 1 of 2 ways with the dorms/Houses: A. As Lin suggested, re-merge Advance Orange and Pendulum Prism and leave it at 5 dorms instead of 6. -OR- B. Redefine the Summon Houses and reduce them to 3 - possibly as follows: - Legacy Purple(/Orange?) (Advance/Ritual/Fusion Summons) [legacy mechanics] - ________ Green(teal?) (Synchro/Pendulum Summons) [newer intrusive mechanics - Tuners and Pendulums] - ________ Blue(navy?/dark?) (Xyz/Link Summons) [newer non-intrusive mechanics] (This option somewhat future-proofs for new summoning mechanics.)
2.)We'll bring back the Inter-Dorm Tournament(IDT), biannually, and have their results impact the ranking of each House. In addition, I'll go ahead and impose the A-Class-B-Class tiers within each House to allow basic conflict within a House and between Houses to supplement the IDT conflicts and to have a base if an IDT hasn't happened yet/in a while.
EDIT: Sorry, Lin, I totally misunderstood that. I'm... not even entirely sure how I warped that suggestion into an IDT. I know the semester thing made me think "biannually...;" somewhere in that sentence, I think I started thinking of a tournament for some reason... - I dunno....
So I'll make up an initial, arbitrary ranking placement for each House. From then, onward, at the start of each semester (twice a year), I'll update the House Rankings based on House wins/losses for the previous semester (maybe a Win%), while giving the most populated House(s?) a negative modifier of some value to their record? Duels can be tracked by people reporting their duel results to me and I'd formulate a sheet.
Now, I guess the issue is the negative modifier. (But I've been told to cross that bridge when we come to it.)
