Ava is a short teenager with dark skin. She is biracial: half Asian and half European. This adds a soft sharpness to her amber eyes, paired with her long eyelashes. Ava’s hair is dark brown and reaches down to the small of her back. However, she usually keeps it in two large ponytails. Her hair also has red highlights in her bangs and the tips of her ponytails have been colored a bright orange. With a small nose, Ava is rather pretty, but her smiles ruin her looks. She seems to be able to smile uncannily wide with insincors that actually look a bit sharper than normal. This adds an aggressive look to her that frightens children with the right lighting.
Her school outfit is pretty normal since there’s a dress code and all that. She is just a bit whimsical about if her shirt is tucked in or buttoned and she may wear her jacket differently and such. Outside of school, she is rather sporadic with what she puts on. Her outfits range from dresses to pants to shorts to whatever she feels like. It’s impossible to tie down a pattern besides with how she keeps her hair. She always puts on spiked bands. For what reason? She just thinks they make her look wicked cool.

Always ready for action, Ava rarely allows herself downtime. She’s always up to something, whether one can see it or not. Her mind’s always moving, from one thing to the next. Creating new lyrics and rhythms, studying, sleeping, and even when relaxing, no one will ever know when Ava will burst. Of course, her sporadic proves disadvantageous in settings where she is forced to sit still. If she begins to twitch or starts moving or does some repetitive action, it becomes obvious that something in her mind has her desiring a more freer setting. This part of her personality causes her to come off as a bit brash and aggressive, but, normally, she means no harm when inspiration makes itself known to her.
However, it is impossible for everyone to vibe with her. Ava is not a meanspirited person. In fact, she is rather kind and selfless. Maybe she simply enjoys playing the hero and being the center of attention too much, but if she sees someone that could use assistance, she shows little reservation when it comes to helping them. Unfortunately, she also has a rather aggressive side about her, not a friendly kind of aggressiveness either. Sparked by her troubled past, Ava has the capability to strike out at her environment. Normally, her anger is expressed by hitting an inanimate object or cursing under her breath, but there are times that it comes out violently against another person. Seeing someone being rude or bullying someone will irate her. That coupled with her drive to help others, and the scene could quickly devolve into a fist fight right then and there.
Anger isn’t her only negative quality either. Ava has moments of sadness when something reminds her about her mother or of how she ran away from her family. She is quick to dismiss inquiries though and prefers to simply let her feelings drown her for a bit, sometimes even writing them down into a song or just playing melodic riffs. Eventually, she bounces back into her peppy self, but the weight of past sins become all too evident.
HISTORY
An only child, Ava was born into a poor household: a single mother who lived with her parents. Life for Ava was difficult. At a young age, her grandparents fostered a strange disdain for her. Despite their attempts to hide their feelings from the young girl, from time to time, they would allow sly remarks about her appearance to slip out. This, coupled with the fact that Ava’s skin tone was darker than her family’s and the other kids around her, sparked a strange curiosity within the young girl’s mind. She grew up wondering why her hair is as brown as it is or why her skin only darkened throughout the years. The only person she felt comfortable around was her mother. Her mom would always tell her that being different was okay and to not let the remarks bother her, but that only lasted until Ava was eight years old.
An argument broke out between her mother and her grandparents. There are usually plenty of fights from time to time. Ava was used to it. However, this one was different. Her grandparents were especially cruel to Ava’s mother, harassing her with meanspirited taunts and rude banter. Ava, feeling as if enough is enough, intervened in an attempt to calm the people in the room. This simply provoked her grandparents to finally call her a bastard child to her face and proclaim that life would have been far easier for her mother if she had aborted Ava or given her up for adoption instead of keeping the child after being molested. Obviously, this broke Ava, for she had never known her father, but now she understood the hostility. Though, she didn't quite get it 100%, this verified that the mean kids at school were correct in their name calling and that it all wasn’t just rumors.
This began a horrible mental plummet for Ava as she began acting out maliciously towards everyone around her, especially her mother. Enraged by the circumstances surrounding her existence, she started fighting her bullies at school, disrespecting any adult that tried to put in her place, and entered a rebellious phase that seemed far too extreme for a child her age. For two years, she acted out, but even through it all, her mother still seemed to hold her in an esteemed light; up until the day Ava had struck her. Ava had been expelled from school due to her outrageous behavior. Her mother was not happy about this and attempted to actually punish Ava, but Ava had fought back and hit her mother in the face while trying to evade her punishment. That hit and the angered expression that Ava wore reminded her mother of her attack and sent the woman spiraling into a maniacal state of fear. This was the first time Ava had seen such raw emotion. It was the final straw for the young girl.
At the age of ten, she had ran away from home after her mother was taken to the hospital due to an attempt to physically harm Ava to a severe level. The mental stress had finally caused her mother to collapse into herself, and it was Ava’s fault. She couldn’t bear to live with her grandparents or anyone of her family. Life on the streets was rough, especially for a ten year old girl however. Ava found herself in plenty of sticky situations that eventually led her to hiding from some bad people in the animal cages of a circus, a lion cage to be exact. Face to face with a lion, she felt like she was soon to be mauled and eaten, but the lion, instead, seemed to take a liking to her on the spot and treated her as a cub. It could have been because the lion was already full or because she was giving off vibes that struck the lion’s parental instincts.
She was soon discovered by the circus’ owner, but instead of being kicked out, she was allowed to stay. The man was impressed that she wasn’t injured by the lion and saw how mangy she was. Of course, she would have to work for her stay, and she became the helper to the person who took care of the animals and started traveling with the circus. Ava found herself thrusted into an unexpected situation, but she began to enjoy life on the road with the circus. Through the years, they started to become like a family to her. They also helped her discover a love for music which helped her deal with her anger issues. The animals also seemed to enjoy her small musical acts.
She was a prodigy. Ava seemed capable of learning any instrument. However, her playstyle didn’t suit all of them. She was aggressive as if forcing everyone to experience her troubled youth first hand by the rough erratic rhythms she would come up with. Her voice, soothing at times due to the low intervals she could hit, proved capable of expressing a wild anguish at random that became excited shrills that’d cause anyone’s heart to jump out of their chest. She soon became attached to guitars due to how they could keep up with antics. She never played erratically around the animals, but when in front of people, she held nothing back. She learned how to perform quickly.
The circus used dueling technology to make their performances topnotch, and that also pushed Ava to learn dueling and such to better understand how everything worked. She wished to become a part of the show just like everyone else. However, the owner had another idea for her. He wanted her to experience more of the world outside of the ring and learn about what she truly wanted for her life. If she wants to come back to the circus and become an actor, she may, but only after she finishes her schooling and finds nothing else that she wants.
Ava would find herself in Silvershine, a student of Liberta Duel Academy, living in a house owned by the circus’ owner. Thanks to the bit of homeschooling she received while she was with the circus, she was barely able to apply for the school, but the owner wanted the best for her, and Liberta Duel Academy is surely one of the best. He knows that personally.
