PERSONALITY
Likes - Fantasy novels - Gemstones - Baked goods
Dislikes Overly sweet foods - Beans - People badmouthing his grandparents -
Sarcastic and slightly on the lazy side, Aran enjoys going at his own pace and spending time with his friends. When his grandparents are brought up, he tends to get quiet, and when they're purposely insulted, he has a habit of flying off the handle without thinking. He can also be too focused when during certain activities, such as cutting stones, to the point where the rest of the world fades away until he's done or something snaps him out of it.
When it comes to cutting stones, he is actually quite skilled, and recently has picked up making jewelry when he has the materials and a stone comes out well enough. Thankfully, Aran ended up with a single person dorm room, so his mess from his hobbies isn't contaminating anyone elses space.
HISTORY
Born to a couple in America, living in a mountain town, Aran attended school like normal, and developed hobbies like other kids. Games, duel monsters, and the like. He also developed a hobby of collecting pretty rocks, as well as reading books due to his grandparents on his fathers side.
His grandfather Allbert, was a geologist, but in his retirement picked up being a jeweler as a hobby. His grandmother Yukari, who was of Japanese descent, was a somewhat well known fantasy author. While her novels weren't super popular, or ever turned into movies, they were rather well received, and she had a fairly devoted fanbase.
Aran would go over to their house and stay the weekend every week throughout most of his life. During this time, his grandmother would teach him the Japanese, and play Duel monsters with him using a deck she wrote a book about; Dragunities, while later on, he used a deck with monsters he thought was interesting; The Zexal Sages and the Onomat monsters and their companion, Utopia. His grandfather also would usually teach him some stuff about rocks and geology, but it mostly transitioned into him and his grandfather cutting gemstones such as quartz that they would get from local rock sifting places, a pastime that Aran would continue on in life.
However, his grandma got sick and he stopped going over there when he was 13. He hadn't heard anything from them in a few weeks, but being only 13 years old, he didn't think anything of it, and assumed his parents were maintaining contact.
The last thing he heard from them as that his grandmother was better, and he could go back over there in a week. Two days later, someone had broken into his grandparents house and had killed them in a robbery gone bad. The culprit was caught within 48 hours. The culprit turned out to be Yukari's former assistant, who also was an author.
Once caught, the assistant confessed and gave the real motive: Revenge. He claimed that Yukari had plagiarized his writing, and went to the media with it after making bail. While his claims were later debunked, the damage to Yukari's reputation outside of her loyal fans had been done. The funeral was held a week later, and Aran inherited his grandmothers deck.
One kid in Aran's school, who had a reputation of being a bully, went out of his way to antagonize him about the whole mess, with the last sentence he said to him being "I guess she got what she deserved."
The reason that was the last sentence he said? Aran beat the living tar out of him for said comments as he had hit his breaking point, and got expelled for it. While his parents were mad at him for what he did, they couldn't truly fault him for doing it.
A few months later, they signed Aran up for school again at another local school, having let him take the rest of the year off to mourn (though they made him study, so as to not fall behind), though this caused him to be held back a year. A year later, his father asked him if he wished to go abroad for highschool, as he saw that while Aran acted fine, he was just hiding the fact that the town was full of memories of his grandparents, and made it painful for him to live there.
Thankful for the offer, Aran gladly accepted, and his parents enrolled him in the school he himself chose, Liberta academy, as a first year. The logic behind choosing the academy was simple to him, in all honesty. He enjoyed the game, and he got into the school past its high assessment requirements, and figured that, with his love of fantasy, could possibly use the card game as inspiration to achieving a dream he had, but never told anyone aside from his grandparents: To become an author, and have his stories be officially adopted as lore for the cards by Kaiba Corp just like his grandmother Yukari did for dragunities.
He was put into the Silvolver dorm due to the fact that he fit the criteria perfectly. Both of his decks fell into the methods used by the dorm, and both decks used specific methods of getting to its stronger monsters. Laddering up through multiple dragon knights passing the torch to the next with Dragunities, and breaking through your limits and evolving via Rank-Up-Magics, as well as bringing forth greater powers through bonds with the Utopia monsters.
First and foremost, "Class" needs to change to "Rank" and be reflected accordingly. See the "Shimmering Coastal City" information thread's 2nd post if you don't know about it.
Secondly, "Aces: Areadbhair / Utopic Future Dragon:" because "Areadbhair" can potentially refer to more than one monster, I'll need you to be more specific as to which monster you're referring to as the Ace (even if it's obvious) - or, if you mean both/all versions of it, you need to specify such.

Next, you mention that Aran's eyes seem aqua blue, depending on the lighting. Is it like some holographic foil sort of deal, or is it literally the sky being reflected in his eyes? Clarity on that would be great, but it's no big deal, really, as I doubt you'll "do anything with it." Just mentioning it here so that it's taken note of. EDIT: You informed me of the lack of pigmentation stuff I had absolutely no idea about, so this bit no longer makes sense to bring up!
For profiles, I'm ignoring grammatical issues unless they substantially interfere with my reading comprehension. So that aside, the only things needing adjustment are removing "Class" and replacing it with "Rank," while also setting Aran's Rank accordingly, and clarifying "Areadbhair."
Those aside, nice profile! When you complete the adjustments, send another #forum-request, or DM me directly on Discord, and I'll have it approved.
