The purple-haired boy was rather... tense, and his sister was acting odd, well his sister was always friendly but today she was set on going to karaoke, something that he didn't know Yuki liked. Regardless what kind of brother would say no to his sickly sister? It was a Saturday and the two siblings would find themselves sitting and listening to the people trying their best to sing. It was a Karaoke Bar, however, it allowed people of all ages inside. A few families sang their hearts out. Doku was sitting at their table, three chairs which Doku didn't think about much at all, I mean working at a cafe he knew a lot of people left tables with empty chairs all the time.
Yuki was up to the stage! Singing away to a random pop song, American it seemed. Teenage Dreams, teenage love, heartbreak... yep, definitely a pop song. Doku was sipping away at a soda listening to his sister, honestly, he was a bit surprised at his sister's voice, I guess he never heard her sing before. Yuki seemed really happy, a smile covering her face. She was dancing and had a lot of movement in her "performance". Once she was done she would return to her seat, smiling at her brother. They struck up a rather small conversation. Soon Yuki pressured her brother into singing. He would take the stage and sing, seeing no one from his class made him feel far less nervous.
This was where he picked his song, he picked an opening from a popular anime, fitting for the nerdy boy. He wasn't a terrible singer nor was he jaw-dropping, he was stiff while he simply held the mic, he REALLY didn't know how to perform huh...? Well hey, at least none of his friends were there to see him like this.

Hey, wanna hang out again? I found this really neat karaoke place . Swing by. It'll be a blast.
"Something isn't adding up here." Stella had been utterly perturbed by the message she had gotten by a friend she had recently made and exchanged numbers with. It was obvious to her. The message was nothing like the boy. Sure, he was brash, but the text message she had been sent was far from the way she knew he talked.
Sure. Send the address. I'll meet you there.
Nevertheless, she still said yes. A karaoke bar on a day off sounded fun. She had only had the experience of a karaoke box or an open audience in the streets so it was definitely a new experience and one she whole-heartedly welcomed. So, when the day came, she jumped out the door without a single reservation. She could hardly say that she had dressed herself to the nines, but the venue meant that she would end up on stage so she at least wanted to make herself somewhat presentable. Though she had worn the same type of clothes she was normally used to, she had added on a few more accessories to cut out a different feeling.
With her deck and duel disk in her bag, she made her way to the bar in question.
Once inside, she had found something noticeable.
She was late.
After all, a certain boy was standing on stage, mic stiff in his hands as he seemed to be sweating bullets.
But Stella was not a mean person by any stretch. He had steadied his courage enough to stand on stage. The least she could do was cheer him on.
She did not even speak. From the front door, she made a simple motion with her fists as she mouthed out a simple phrase.
Doku was hitting the end of the song, it was getting faster so Doku had to sing along, despite his stiffness and nervousness he DID know the lyrics, and his timing was great. However, his focus on the song fell off a cliff as he saw a familiar face. Stella. His singer friend, was karaoke a hobby of hers? Could singers even do karaoke? That didn't matter, Doku choked on the last bit of the song.
Yuki who was watching in amusement was also cheering her brother along, she turned as she took note of Doku's less-than-spectacular finish. She spotted Stella! Yuki was honestly a fan of the girl's music, she was big into music as she sat around home during her treatments she had a lot of time to just jam out. So hearing her brother knew a little indie star was honestly crazy.
The sickly woman would than get up from their table and walk towards Stella. "Oh! Hey Stella! I'm Yuki, I'm sure my brother has told you a lot about me! He's told me quite a bit about you~" She chuckled, sewing a bit of mystery. Eventually, the pair would be interrupted by ( a very sweaty) Doku. "Stella? Good to see you- I didn't know you were into karaoke..."
Yuki would poke Doku's pocket. "Doku, well your phone password is your birthday, and I may have sorta asked Stella to hang out!" Doku was flabbergasted, he would stay quiet for just a second. "Yuki- I..." He sighed.
Yuki chirped up. "Hey! What's wrong with hanging out with your friends? Also aren't you supposed to like cute girls?"
Doku just nodded. "Sorry about her Stella, but I guess she's right, I wouldn't mind hanging out again, Just uh, don't make me sing again-"

Suffice to say, the boy was clearly shocked to see her there. Good intent had backfired in the most spectacular of ways as the boy's song fumbled at the finish line. Yes, he had been doing well before he had noticed Stella. It was only when he had noticed Stella cheering him on that he choked on the final throw. She stifled the urge to frown at herself as she heard a new voice calling out to her.
She was hardly the most well-looking person Stella had met but she was energetic to jump from the table she was seated at and approach Stella. As Yuki introduced herself and spoke about herself as the sister of the boy she had come to see, she had found her answer. This whole situation was strange. The message she had received was out of character for the sender. But siblings were an entirely different story. Stella was an only child herself, but she could surmise this kind of thing to be the kind of prank close siblings would play on each other. Figuring out your brother's passwords and sending texts out to friends? Completely within reason.
This was fine.
"I guess Doku has already introduced me, but I would say that introductions are still in order." She reached out her hand to Yuki. "Stella Harmonia. Your brother has talked a lot about you as well."
The girl merely chuckled as she watched the boy get teased by his sister before begging to not return to the stage again.
"Why not? Until you saw me, you did good."
Stella was a good girl. She would not heckle anyone who found the courage to stand upon the stage.
"It was a valiant effort. You got on stage and sung your heart out so take some pride in that."
Though whether that would be taken as the genuine compliment it was or as a tease was an entirely different story.
Well Doku didn't even hate Stella being here, he actually enjoyed the womans' company, it was mainly just his sister that was giving him stress.
Yuki would shake Stella's hand, her grip was firm, though Stella would notice Yuki's skin was cold. "I'm a huge fan! I love Linkage!" This would probably explain why Stella was invited. A fangirl wanting to meet a musician she liked.
Doku would sigh. "Yuki, you could have just asked me to introduce you to Stella you know?" He would shake his head, and turn towards Stella as she spoke up to the boy. "Oh! I'm just not... confident. Plus I'm not a performer, this stuff isn't really my cup of tea" He would give her a rather simple explanation. "So. When you are you gonna get up and sing?" Doku would ask, honestly, he DID want to see Stella sing, and he was certain Yuki wanted to see that as well.
This was when Yuki would chime in. "A duet! You and Doku~ You can help him with his confidence! It's a win-win Doku~" She nudged the boy who was clearly flustered.
"I-I mean, I guess?" Doku looked at the woman. "Up to you though."

It was a strange experience meeting a fan in the wild like this. Normally, they would be at her street performances, but she was mundane enough that she would blend in quite easily. An odd experience but not an unwelcome. She almost found herself shivering the moment the girl called Yuki grasped her hand. She had almost reflexively questioned whether someone had turned up the air conditioning too high before she had realized that the sensation came from her hands.
"Well, thank you."
Needless to say, she could not just let an exuberant declaration of fandom fall to the wayside as she gave the most professional smile and response she could. Though, that it seem would fall to the wayside as the momentum seemed to just careen forward.
The little sister seemed quite insistent on seeing her get up on stage. Actually, if anything she seemed quite insistent on both of them getting up on stage at the same time.
"A duet, huh?" Stella ran through a long catalogue in her head as she tried to think of a good duet. She was hardly averse to the idea. Usually, she was on her own, so it would be fun to sing with someone completely new on stage. "I'm down for it. Any preferences on song? If not, I can pick one since I have a few ideas. Though they usually start with the guy first."
He was clearly flustered so the best way to get him to enjoy another performance was to gently take his hand and throw him back onto the stage. No true cure better than trial by fire, after all.
Yuki was home a lot, so she didn't have much to do, she was online quite a lot so she engaged in all sorts of fandoms and communities, and indie music was a large part of that. Sella she kind of just stumbled onto, crazy she lived in the same town as them. Yuki had a really jolly and cheerful smile it didn't exactly go away, if at all.
Meanwhile, Doku was panicking, I mean, he didn't know HOW to sing! What if he made an ass of himself again, first he was famous because of that stupid rejection he had, so who's to say a classmate was watching, ready to record and make him look like the biggest doofus in school.
"Well, something a little upbeat, you're kind of the music lady!" He would let out a rather soft chuckle. "But surprise me, we can sing anything! Maybe some classic rock? But hey, you know best" He decided to be a little open making some jokes.
Doku took the stage, where his nerves shook, he than looked towards Stella, than towards Yuki who was clapping her hands as they took the stage. Trying to encourage her brother!

Stella tapped her fist onto her other palm.
"Ah, I've got one. And it would start with me first to give you some time to lead in." With a proud smile, the girl nodded. "Admittedly, it's not too upbeat and can be a bit more of a slow burn, but I think the audience would like it."
They had already decided that it was going to be a duet, so this was probably the best song to go with for that occasion. While she was itching to let this go as a trial by fire, it would be cruel to make him the first singer. So, she went up to the DJ while he walked up to the stage.
"We're going with Dreaming Alone." After seeing him nod in approval and give a thumbs up, she took her place on the stage by Doku.
"Just take a deep breath and keep your eyes on me or your sister if you need to. Performing onstage is frightening the first time, but you'll feel much more comfortable as time passes. I'll also signal you for when it's your turn to start singing. You'll do fine."
Well, he wouldn't necessarily, but even if he didn't it would all be in good fun. The stage was a big place, but there was no pressure on him. At least, that was what she had hoped he would feel.
As the music began, so did she. "The story starts laying in the dark with someone new. Feeling tired from all the time I spent on you. I know I'm strong from all the trouble I've been through."
As she did, she kept an eye on Doku, along with the rest of the audience.
Well, good to know Stella knew a song to pick. Doku listened to a good bit of foreign music, so singing the lyrics would be a lot tougher. Though he was pretty sure Stella knew the music well. Truth be told he had never heard of Dreaming Alone. But the lyrics being on the screen would be incredibly helpful.
Doku felt his hands shake and some sweat forming on his forehead. Was this what stage fright was like? Regardless he took Stella's advice, looking at her as she sang, honestly, her voice was... amazing, it was soothing, causing Doku's nerves to dissipate, at least for her verse. Having Stella, and Yuki's eyes glued to him wasn't the issue, it was the rest of the audience. Though looking at Yuki, his sister would wave and clap encouraging him. With a gulp Doku raised the mic to his mouth and began to sing.
"The story starts where the story falls apart with you"
His voice was shaky, at least for the first bit. Yuki meanwhile was giving him a thumbs up. Doku would step a little closer to Stella, looking at her as he sang. The shakiness fading away.
"Don't lie, bright eyes, is it me you see when you fall asleep? Cause I know it's you. I dream about every night. Giving me a feel like"

For all his stage fright, Doku was doing a good job. The boy was clearly out of his element. He was singing on stage and even being made to sing an unfamiliar song. Despite all of that, he had swallowed his fear and took hold of a microphone. Maybe he had rationalized it a bit or taken some queues from the fact that there was a prompter to calm himself down a bit. Whatever the case was, she could not help but feel pride in watching him take that first step with singing his verse.
It was reminiscent of the pride a mother had when watching her child take her first steps, though Stella would never say that out loud.
He had stepped closer for his own comfort and she merely nodded as her turn came back around.
"I can't take back the things I've said."
With every line his shakiness faded. So, she simply matched with him. Harmony was a difficult thing to obtain. Harmonizing with someone who was nervous was tough but not impossible. It was something she could do. But every moment during which his nerves simmered down made the harmony far more manageable and far more natural.
"Any day that I was yours~"
As she sang, she matched his actions. Taking a step closer to him, she reached out her arm.
"Don't lie, bright eyes. I know it's me that you see when you fall asleep and you know..."
That was the act of the duet. The harmony of two singers, no matter how disparate they had been was the beauty of the single performance of two. It didn't matter how much he feared the stage. She would make sure that he would be able to walk off of it with a smile on his face and pride in his heart.
