September through October 20X1 - Welcome, Class of 20X4!
The new school year at Liberta Duel Academy is here! Students - new and returning - are adjusting to their school life and getting themselves settled in. The entrance ceremony presented the principal's address, spoke of Dorm Rankings, and introduced the Student Council. Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
Silvershine city, a place to be it is definitely a place that Isamu never thought he would be in. The school is a different vibe and everyone seems to have some place to be. Isamu the red haired first year clenched his fist. Gaming wasn't his biggest thing. He would normally being in a preparation state for his dueling at the school. While Dueling wasn't his heart and soul, he very well knew that it was his ticket out of the lifestyle his family was placed into. He could hear the clanking of joy sticks.
Isamu was never the strongest video game player just cause of his lack of playing. He was always interested in fighting games however it definitely beat being a real life fighter. 'Street Fighter 3rd Strike' This was the capcom game that had people separate from the original game. He sat down across on the vs screen. Next to it was another knock off fighting game. 'Vanquish your soul!' a two player game that held a blue haired fighter and a panther woman. Both games seemed fun but he was going to give 3rd strike a try.
Isamu pulled out a few coins and placed them on the cabinet. The selection screen was large. Each character seemed intense but who looked the most proud? The most powerful, a basic character like Ryu would work he was the main character right? As round one started on solo player it seemed that Isamu was able to button mash slowly to get his first round win. This game was pretty fun. Isamu thought to himself.
It was a new day for Mina and Chaeyoung, two of the newest additions to the Academy - likely even to the city of Silvershine itself - and they were excited to have found a place that reminded them of the good times they had together back in Korea: the arcade. For Mina, it had been a place of solace, rebellion and escapism from her harsh family, as well as simply just a source of fun in her early life. As for Chaeyoung, it was a meet up spot for her and her friends, one of their favourite, less supervised places in the city to mess around in, and most importantly, the place the pair met and cultivated the friendship they had today. It was truly a highlight for them both, and now they got to relive the fun and nostalgia in their new place of living. You could see the excitement on their faces, hear their loud laughs and chats resonate even through all the noise an arcade has, and feel their palpable energy, as they both did their round through the place. Taking a quick moment to split up to search for their favourite game to play, Chaeyoung would be the one to make her way past the fighting game section, where she would lay her eyes upon Isamu and his button mashing. If her commanding presence and very unique, in your face style was not enough to catch his attention, her words would be. The moment was brief, but Chaeyoung was never afraid to be direct and speak to someone. She chuckled, saying to him,
"You new to Street Fighter? I used to play like that too when I started out. Ya know, it should say his moves on the menu. Also, good choice, although I'm much more of an Elena or Ibuki kind of girl. Juri is my fave, but I don't think she's in that one. If you want, I can come back later and show you what's what." She asked, speaking with a playfulness and slight sarcasm, all in jest of course. Not before long, though, a loud shout could be heard from Mina.
"Chaeyoung, come, I found it!" Mina exclaimed excitedly from across the room, to which Chaeyoung chuckled once more, giving him a jovial wink,
"Gotta go, we've been dying to play this game! See ya soon." Chaeyoung said, running off and waving to him, before joining up with Mina. The pair had finally found it; a Dance Dance Revolution dance machine! They loved to play this back at home, Mina for the feeling of performance it gave her, and Chaeyoung for her natural skills in dancing. Now, it also offered them a way to practise for future routines. They looked like two kids in a candy shop as they inserted their coins and scrolled through the various songs.
"Oh my god, yes, they have KPOP!" Mina said, wanting to do Bubble Pop by Hyuna, a classic. Chaeyoung laughed and shook her head, refusing to do that one, before the pair could agree on one - Scream by Dreamcatcher, the perfect mix of KPOP and punk rock, a combination style that suited them both. As they started it up and began to dance along, their talent would become clear to anyone that was watching. Chaeyoung moved flawlessly, hitting every beat and matching up to the arrows perfectly, with a seamlessness and ease that made it look easy, while Mina performed similarly well, with a charisma and stage presence that was both alluring and strong, as if she was performing on stage infront of a camera right there and then. They both were having lot's of fun as they did so, laughing heartily in between it all. Mina and Chaeyoung were in the element, and this time it was more than just fun to them, it felt like they had a piece of what they were missing since being here.
Upon the song's conclusion, the pair cheered each other, giving one another a double high five as they saw the scores come through.
"Phew, that felt so good! Ugh, I've really missed this, even if it has just been a month or so." Mina said, in a light hearted manner that still carried sincerity behind the words. Chaeyoung smiled and nodded,
"Me too, girl. But this is just the beginning of our time here. We'll be able to bring it all back now we've discovered the area a bit more. Hell, we could even go back to the Academy tonight and find a place to tag." Chaeyoung said, playfully elbowing Mina, to which she laughed and also agreed. The pair were both looking forward to their time in Silvershine Academy, whilst also living in the moment. They wanted to see what it all brings, explore the unknown, and this night only amplified and ignited said feelings more.
In the midst of his first game the boy looked up hearing a girl talk about how to play the game. Not that he wasn't surprised that a girl could be playing a fighting game but she seemed knowledgeable on the game and honestly she was dressed some what like a delinquent. Looking at his taped fingers as tapped the joystick he turned to give her the proper attention but she moved away quickly. Its not that Isamu was quiet, he was always told only delinquents would go to arcades and sometimes he would pass by them and people would get a glance at his large physique and get scared in that instant. Isamu managed to watch the girl walk off with another friend of hers. They went straight to the dancing machine. Dance Dance Revolution? "They have Kpop!" Isamu heard shout out.
Isamu had a smile on his face as he then realized looking down his character had lost both rounds already. He heard a cheer from the person behind it wasn't a computer player but a real player that began smack talking. Isamu grew a bit angry and then moved over to watch the end of the girls dance.
They were pretty talented definitely not something he could do. The red haired boy was trying to overhear what was going on over there. IT seemed the first girl was kind enough to offer how to help him get better at Street fighter that wasn't a direct goal. But broadening his lifestyle would be a bit better? He knew from the get go dueling was just his way out of the mundane life that he had. Were they the same way? The first girl exuded confidence and strength. Her hair was pretty wild in all sorts of way.
The second woman was dressed a bit more modest. The duo reminded him of a cartoon he had seen as a kid. Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi? He was unsure how to really approach especially after their statement from the academy. Sure seems like everyone he can meet here is mostly from the academy. Finding a place to tag? Were they delinquents? "Yo." Isamu said waving one hand over. His bandaged hand was a welcoming for him. "You two are from the academy too?" He questioned after all the whole point of the school in the end is to network right?
After Mina and Chaeyoung were finished on the dance machine, they would turn to their side to notice that Isamu had been watching them for quite some time. The pair both gave him different variations of a friendly grin, with Chaeyoung playfully elbowing him, having been the one to recognise him from earlier. With a laugh, she jokingly said,
"Ahhh, it's you! Rage quit already or something? Just playing, I'm sure we probably distracted you." She said with a playfully teasing tone, before Mina added,
"Yeah, I mean, we should start busking on these machines or some shit, we could make some coin!" Mina spoke sarcastically, the two clearly having a similar sense of dry wit, before they both chuckled once more, finally answering his question.
"Yeah, we're from the Academy. I assume you are too if you're asking? Cool, one of the first people we've met from there!" Mina said, sounding rather excited, especially as she took a look at his appearance. She was worried it would be a more stuck up type of Academy, one where everyone looked alike and lacked individuality, but even just based off of him, he had a pretty cool style to him. She placed her hands on his hips as Chaeyoung spoke, saying,
"That's right, we just arrived. We're second years, but don't let that fool you, we have no clue about any of the duelling stuff, we were put into this year by default." Chaeyoung said rather candidly, before the pair laughed amongst each other once more. It would quickly become apparent to Isamu that neither or them took the situation very seriously, finding humour in their lack of knowledge on it all.
"Yeah, so if you're expecting a duel, we would like to politely decline, neither of us feel like being embarrassed tonight." Mina said, the tone of her words staying the same as she placed a hand on her chest.
Isamu looked a bit shocked did he rage quit!? No wait he didn't rage quit he just lost to a player because he was distracted he was definitely worse at the game than the other people here for sure. His face definitely had a sweat to it like he was worried about not being perceived as strong or talented. It wasn't that he mind losing but being a strong person was kind of his thing. He waved his bandaged hand in a nonchalant way.
He heard the second girl speak and then both were a bit excited to meet someone from the academy as well. "Yeah, you guys are actually the first people I met too. I'm Isamu" He paused hearing her continue speaking he wasn't looking for a duel specifically. This was his first time being so far away from his family.
His first priority was finding people to somewhat associate with. the red haired boy chuckled at the thought. But it made sense if the girls felt they were less than capable at dueling just like his friend back home. He just seems to be attracted to helping people that think they themselves are weak. With the way they held themselves they seemed confident. Especially the one with the pointy unicorn horns she gives a strong aura of don't mess with her.
"Nah nah I'm not looking for a duel but just gonna be honest. I've never been away from home for so long and making friends isn't exactly my strong suit. Its a pleasure to meet you guys."
Mina and Chaeyoung would initially laugh, in response to how Isamu reacted to their rage quitting joke. They had hoped he understood that they both were simply speaking in jest, but his reaction was also kind of cute to the pair. Especially as he continued to introduce himself, it would become clear that while he had confidence in himself which they appreciated, enough confidence to approach them, he also was new to putting himself out there socially, a slight awkwardness that Mina and Chaeyoung would find endearing. His appearance deceived him somewhat, in that sense, although theirs did too. Chaeyoung would playfully elbow him, saying,
"We're just kidding, I'm sure our expert dance skills would be enough to distract even the pro players." Chaeyoung said, bragging in a very sarcastic manner, making it even more obvious how dry both her and Mina's sense of humour could be.
"Anyway, it's nice to meet you too, my name is Chaeyoung." She continued, introducing herself with a warm smile that felt sincere. Chaeyoung and Mina both would have lived different lives to Isamu, with basic things such as meeting people and going out to explore being almost second nature to them at that point, considering their favourite past-times. This was the longest away from Korea for them too, of course, but the difference was that neither one of them were intending to go back any time soon, and Mina in particular did not miss home in the slightest.
"And I'm Mina!" Mina said with a friendly grin, before asking him a few more questions.
"So, what brings you to the Academy? You don't seem like the generic type to just be there for education. I am basing this fully on your looks though, so I could be wrong." Mina said in a very straight forward manner, before Chaeyoung smirked, saying,
"True, I was thinking you have a good sense of style, which tends to mean something." Using clothes to determine whether someone was interesting or not might have sounded peculiar, but to them it makes perfect sense. Having a unique sense of style, to them, symbolised not only individuality, but a point of view, and sometimes even a story. Case in point; Chaeyoung's fashion represented her sense of rebellion and her out there, adventurous spirit, the one she was allowed to grow and cultivate by her family. While Mina's trendy, chic outfits would represent her confidence, and the women she aspired to be like, the ones she gained her own power from.
"I'm sure we just gave our own reasons away." Chaeyoung added, sounding sarcastic once more, with Mina chuckling.
"Yeah, definitely. We're here to promote ourselves, as the first ever KPOP Duelling Idol duo. I had a name for us, but Chaeyoung hates it."

I don't back down
These girls were... Interesting to say the least. Kpop duelist? He always figured he was lacking in the showing off department when it came to dueling but that was a good idea over all. But at least they liked his sense of style which wasn't much in his opinion wearing multiple layers and one being a jacket typically worked well if anyone ever got in a fight with him. Even if it was just a little bit of cushion. Though the compliment made him feel a bit of way. If anything a mental image of himself would puff out his chest and be excited at the fact he was Fashionable
"I am here for dueling, trying to make something of myself." Isamu didn't think he needed to go deep into his reasoning for paying for his family to succeed for his sister and his brother. This just happened to be a talent he has just like how Mina and Chaeyoung have a talent for dancing.
"What's the name for the group?" He weaved his body and moved his hand to his cheek. "Having a catchy name is half the battle for people to notice you guys." To be honest Isamu didn't know much about Kpop but he knew a few names so maybe names were more of the pop out things to notice. Having a gimmick of dueling or telling a story while dueling would work really well! "So you two must have been friends for a long time too eh?"
