Liberta Duel Academy is set in the city of Silvershine located in a fictional small country known as Silva, somewhere along the western coastside of Europe.
September through October 20X1 - Welcome, Class of 20X4!
The new school year at Liberta Duel Academy is here! Students - new and returning - are adjusting to their school life and getting themselves settled in. The entrance ceremony presented the principal's address, spoke of Dorm Rankings, and introduced the Student Council. Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
it was a hearty, warm night in the ever bustling city of Silvershine, although as it began to get later, one would find the amount of people still out and about start to dwindle, as people were either headed home after work, or headed out to the plethora of bars or restaurants dotted along the city scape. This would be ideal for Mina and Chaeyoung, two of the Academy's newest additions. They were city dwellers at heart, having grown up in Seoul, and the nighttime was always their domain. Whether it was more rebellious activities such as skatepark meet ups, rollerblading across town and/or street art, or more indoor activities such as hitting up the karaoke bars, arcades or street food markets, something about them gravitated towards the night. Maybe it was the beauty of the urban landscape as it lit up with flashing, neon lights, only further illuminated by the stars above, or that the normality of life - the aspects of it they found more boring - were replaced with more thrill seeking, adventurous, and fun opportunities. On this exciting Friday, Mina and Chaeyoung were ready to seize the night.
With their rollerblades on, they manoeuvred through the city streets with ease and a swift grace, truly making it look easy, as they chatted idly amongst each other, music blaring from a large speaker, which was being held by Chaeyoung. They were discussing their new life, both at the Academy, and in a completely new city, a long way away from home, of which they had not yet fully explored. It was an exciting prospect for both young women, neither of whom the type to shy away from new situations. They were quite the opposite, looking forward to seeing what would happen during their time here, but also living in the moment. And that, they planned to do tonight. They made their way through a mixture of main roads, back alleys and streets, stumbling across a square, one that had a small park in the middle. The roads surrounding it would be connected to main roads, along with a few cafe's and the like, but as of right now, it was relatively quiet. A perfect place to let loose and have fun together, unsupervised. They stopped, smirking to each other.
"I was gonna propose we find an arcade tonight, but this place looks fun! And no one seems to be here. What do you think? We could crack open some cans and see where the night takes us!" Mina said, with a chuckle, to which Chaeyoung quickly agreed, the pair evidently on the same wavelength.
"I think it's perfect!" Chaeyoung responded, the pair cheering to each other and turning the music up. The experimental EDM, punk and pop vibes of their playlist were perfect for any energetic soul, and being alone made it all feel that much more exciting.
Mina and Chaeyoung entered the park through a small gate, sitting on a bench towards the middle of the park, underneath the lights, having some cans of drinks together, singing and dancing along to the music they were playing, and generally having a good time in each others company, whether they were speaking or not. Sitting back down after busting some major moves to one of their favourites, Player of Games by Grimes, the pair spoke about being a part of the Academy,
"I bet the students in our year are gonna laugh when they find out we don't know anything about duelling!" Mina said, not at all seeming phased by the idea of it though. Mina laughed loudly in response, nodding,
"I know, right?! Hell, even the first years are gonna kick our ass. I mean, it's okay though, we all gotta start somewhere, right? And let's see any of them try to write and produce their own songs like we can. Although, that would actually be pretty cool if they could." Chaeyoung responded, taking a few sips as Mina spoke, saying,
"Yeah, we got time, I'm not worried about some losses. It just means that once we figure out how to play, they'll be even more shook after underestimating us! Soon enough, the "KPOP Duellist Divas" will be a staple around here!" Mina said partially in jest at the ridiculousness of that name, to which Chaeyoung jokingly facepalmed,
"We are not calling ourselves that." She said, to which Mina laughed even louder, followed by a "duh.".
Of course, this was the reason behind it all; getting their names out there, in a new region, where people like them are more fresh and unique, where they can brand themselves and properly get their foot through the doors of the music industry. It had already been hard, with the uncertainty of auditions, and success of auditioning being unknown, leading them to try something completely different on the side. They had strong resolves though, and were ready to stay resilient, much like their attitudes towards their time at the Academy, towards success.
A slow right for sure, Doku had just gotten off of work, the boy worked at a café, so they were closing up shop here in just a minute! It was a long shift, so it was finally time to head home! The boy was wearing his work clothes, a white apron, well not exactly a uniform... but hey, Helen (his boss) liked to keep it casual, which Doku appreciated. Soon he found himself in the heart of the city, surrounded by the energy of the night. The streets were still abuzz with activity, but the crowd was thinning as people headed home or ventured out for some after-work entertainment.
Feeling a mix of exhaustion and anticipation, Doku decided to take a detour on his way home. He strolled through the lively streets, observing the various people curious what they did with their time off. The boy didn't particularly have anything left to do, so why not enjoy the time he had?
As he walked, he passed by a small park nestled between buildings. The park was relatively quiet, Doku paused. He entered the park, finding a bench to rest, if only he had his backpack, he'd totally love to read his new manga. Doku took note of two students on roller-skates, he assumed they were students at least, they looked the age.
Kpop? Another singer, weird Doku had just recently met Stella, I mean she herself was a singer. Maybe they knew each other? Eh he doubted it. As they skated past Doku on the bench he would speak up. "Kpop? You two are singers?" He decided to break the silence. He spoke up loud enough for the two women to hear. The purple-haired boy would let out a rather heavy yawn, sipping away at a cup he had on him. From the smell, it seemed to be coffee.

As Mina and Chaeyoung continued spending time together in the park they had just newly discovered, it would soon become apparent to them that they were not alone. They skated past Doku, a relatively 'normal' looking, unimposing boy. He was rather small, around their height if not slightly smaller, although he wasn't exactly scrawny looking. The pair swerved to face him, stopping in their tracks and making it all appear rather easy to them both. Mina and Chaeyoung both had a lot of experience with roller skates due to their street activities, meaning they were well versed in manoeuvring environments in their skates - this would be a quick, albeit unintentional, demonstration of such skills. The young man had spoken to them, referring to the mention of KPOP, the pair looking at each other indicatively before starting to speak to him. It was evident that he had been listening in to their conversation, even if only for a moment. They didn't actually mind about this, and infact, would respect how forward he was in approaching them, especially considering how strong their energy was.
With a grin, Chaeyoung would be the first to respond to him, saying,
"Ahh, so we have a peeping Tom! Yeah, KPOP, although it's not the typical cutesy stuff that I'm sure you imagined, incase you couldn't gather that from our appearances." Chaeyoung said, making a self referential joke regarding the pair. It was true, Chaeyoung's style was much more cyberpunk-esque and urban, while Mina's was a mixture of trendy fashion with an alluring twist. Their outfits reflected this, Chaeyoung rocking a black look with a lot of neon visuals printed on it, almost like graffiti art had been spray painted onto it, while Mina rocked a red, pleather cropped skirt and matching bra, overlaid with a black, see through mesh top.
"Yeah, we just recently arrived in Silvershine and wanted to make a name for ourselves, as the breakthrough KPOP duo of the city!" Mina said, placing her hands on her hips as she made a heroic style pose, completely in jest, before loosening up and laughing,
"I had a whole name prepared and everything, but Chaeyoung didn't agree on it." She added, to which Chaeyoung playfully elbowed her.
"It will be a cold day in hell before we're ever called the KPOP Duelling Divas." Chaeyoung jokingly deadpanned, before facing Doku once more.
"How about you? You look a bit tired, had a long day or something? You can chill with us if you want, it might put some pep back in that step!"
Doku was... a bit impressed by the duo's sudden stop to look toward him, that took some skill, well, better than he could at least, he knew if he tried that he'd land on his ass. So props to the two of them. Doku wasn't really expecting them to hear him, but hey, a conversation never hurt anyone. He would gulp at the peeping tom joke, it wasn't something he hadn't heard before, I mean the rumors Hikari could spread were nasty. However, his nerves would be calmed as it was clearly a joke. Their style was... different, but hey, that was always refreshing. "I don't actually listen to Kpop, I just know it's pretty mainstream recently, I'm from Japan but I'm an American rock and pop kinda guy" It was a weird preference, but something about the American culture was alluring, maybe it was their movies? Who really knew?
"Oh, new students? Well, I guess we're classmates." He chuckled, looking at both of the women, making sure to remember them, he did suck with names and appearances, so he was going to try and remember them, it would be rude if she forgot their names! "Well. I'm Doku! I just got off work, I'm a barista" He laughed a little bit. "Pretty busy today but hey, I'm done now!" He let out a heavy sigh. Doku would look at the two girls. "Sure? I mean I don't have anything to do. What exactly are we doing?"

Mina and Chaeyoung would be pleased at how the conversation, clearly Doku was sociable enough, and at the very least, wasn't judging them for being loud and disruptive. They were only looking for fun, thrill seekers, so to speak, yet it came with so much judgement from others, who clearly were too miserable to seize the day themselves. The pair were able to easily let it slide over their heads, but anyone with an open minded was always appreciated, it and seemed like their new acquaintance had enough of one to feel rather at ease with them already. Mina and Chaeyoung would look at each other and laugh, not surprised he didn't know much of KPOP, but somewhat surprised he would prefer American media as a Japanese man. Turning to face him, they jokingly called him out on this, with Chaeyoung's tone feigning shocked offense.
"Really? I mean, I like some American stuff, but the rest of the world does it so much better for the most part. We're gonna have to school you one day. Infact, that can be what we do, listen to music, talk shit, just have fun and let loose." Chaeyoung said with a grin. Even the very song they were listening to, which had now changed to DARE by Gorillaz, one of Mina and Chaeyoung's personal favourites, was British. They both would be moving their feet as it played, finding it hard to stay still with such a bop on.
Still energised, the pair laughed raucously once more, excited both by their current circumstance, and also that they had met a new student, one who they already seemed to get along with. They both knew their personalities could be polarising, so people that had what it takes to hang with them did always perk their spirits up.
"A barista! Cool, so you can make us free drinks?" Mina asked playfully, before the pair both introduced themselves.
"A long shift is the worst, ugh. I used to work a Korean food stall, so I know it can be stressful sometimes. But you know, now that means I can cook up a fierce meal, so if you want something in return for those drinks..." Mina continued, elbowing him playfully as she joked once more.
Doku was just as loud and disruptive so, he didn't really mind other people that were loud, that be hypocritical! The man would look towards the two girls trying to figure them out. It was something he liked to do, figure out someone's character early on. Though he was going to fight his opinion. He quickly spoke up and laughed, Doku was the type of guy to die on the hill he believed in.
"The U.S. has the best music in the world." He shook his head. Doku held up a hand and started counting. "Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, Guns N Roses, Aerosmith, Beach Boys, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machines..." Doku listed off a lot of bands. "No country does rock better." He explained. "Jazz? Elvis?" Doku was going to stop there, not wanting to ramble on for ages.
"I mean if you gave me some stuff I can mix it yeah." Doku thought about it, he knew a fair amount of recipes thanks to Helen, Coffee, Booze, and just about any type of liquid mixing were right up his alley. "But hey, I'm making money. I like my boss, she's a nice lady so I can exactly complain" He laughed with Mina as she jabbed him.
