Liberta Duel Academy is a Yu-Gi-Oh! roleplay site set in an Alternate Universe (AU) version of the original series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, set roughly 50 years after the end of the Dark Side of Dimensions movie. Liberta Duel Academy is set in the city of Silvershine located in a fictional small country known as Silva, somewhere along the western coastside of Europe.
September through October 20X1 - Welcome, Class of 20X4!
The new school year at Liberta Duel Academy is here! Students - new and returning - are adjusting to their school life and getting themselves settled in. The entrance ceremony presented the principal's address, spoke of Dorm Rankings, and introduced the Student Council. Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
Letting out a borderline vicious grunt, the enigmatically quiet tough guy of rumor from the first-year class relaxed his abdomen and let his torso slowly straighten back down. Tatsuya had been hanging upside-down from a bar, support locked under the knees and doing full extension sit-ups. He appeared to be red in the face, panting with exhaustion as sweat dripped out from his hair. He wasn't a bodybuilder, but the fact that he had just done fifty of those repetitions without stopping for a break bolstered his presence in the Sports Zone. A trio of students muttered to each other, staring at him. One glare from him immediately made them panic and shuffle away. (...Whatever. People will have to get used to it,) the former delinquent thought to himself rather bitterly. (These damn classes are all dueling, all the time: those lame excuses for 'physical education' aren't gonna relieve anyone's stress, not to mention mine.)
Curling up and gripping the bar with his hands again, Tatsuya contorted his body to release his hook on the bar and drop his legs to the floor. The athletic youth then released the grip of his fingers, landing cleanly on the floor with a thud. He took a deep breath, cracking his knuckles and nodding with his fierce gaze fixed on the floor. From the exterior, Mr. Taro had a great combo: A-rank placement in Liberta Duel Academy, plus a powerful body that could probably throw a mean right crossbody to handle confrontations that fancy colorful cardboard rectangles couldn't solve. He reached down to scoop up a blue sports bottle and a towel, wiping his forehead with the latter before squeezing the former into his mouth for a quick drink.
"Hah... That's much better. Shouldn't go for another stomach workout: supposed to be arm day," he muttered quietly again, turning to his right with a rather serious gaze and locking eyes with a student working away at a bench press. He walked over to the now petrified student, who couldn't seem to lift the bar off of his chest once he recognized that Tatsuya Taro was now right next to him.
"..."
"A-Ah... H-Hi, Ta-"
"Don't talk. You'll never get it off you if you waste your focus like that."
"B-B-But it's-"
"SHUT UP AND LIFT."
The terrified boy let out a timid wail, lifting the bar with a newfound strength as Tatsuya raised his voice for his commanding decree. In a hurry, he plopped the bar down on the small ledges, shot right up from the bench, and scooped up his bag to scurry out of the weight room. Once again, eyes were on him as the boy ran off. His approach wasn't "bullying", or even "harassment" since it was genuine advice... But that sort of threatening presence made it look like that. Huffing and setting his belongings down, Tatsuya tapped his Duel Disk fastened to his wrist to reset his timer. Best to leave early in case that guy squeals to a teacher that the Big Bad Taro decided to threaten him or something. (Ugh, this guy wasn't even lifting any actual weight. I should add on an extra plate if I want anything outta this.)
Truth be told, Doku had never entered the Sports Zone, I mean look at him, he was a scrawn nerdy kid who didn't work out. So it was like a maze. He was pretty weak, no surprise there. But he was on his way to find someone in particular, Tatsuya, he was rather... intimidating! What better then dueling him and showing off to the wonderful ladies of the school~ Well... that's what he liked to think. Would people care if he beat Tatsuya? I mean, maybe a little? but would people really change their opinions on Doku? Nah.
He found a set of bars. And the man in question, hanging up on the bar. Man. Maybe he should consider working out as well... nah that took to much time. He watched Tatsuya from a distance before walking towards him. He listened to his shouting towards the person working out with him.
Doku would quickly speak up once the boy ran off. Doku pointed directly at Tasuya, clearing his throat. "Tatsuya! I challenge you to a duel!" Doku smirked. "I won't take no for an answer!" Let's just pray Doku didn't get a punch to his face... none the less. He already had his duel disk on. Inserting his Aroma deck into it! Did Doku know what Tatsuya played? Nope. But he was gonna wing it! Now... let's just hope Tatsuya wouldn't just walk off and leave Doku hanging.

"Tatsuya! I challenge you to a duel! I won't take no for an answer!"
Stopping just before he was about to let go of the final plate on the bar, the intimidating boy looked up from his workout bench to the source of the sudden challenge. Though his hazel eyes were scary enough on their own, the subtle glare of annoyance made it all the more scary. He slowly stood to full height, cracking his knuckles on each hand by pressing his thumb down on each finger one after another, and remained silent as he sized the boy up. He looked about ready to take a swing, and judging from how much weight was on that bar already, even a left jab would definitely leave a nasty mark...
"...Actually, you will take no for an answer. Pass."
And with that, he went back to securing the weights on the bar with clamps. Just like that, he proceeded to ignore the challenger that called him out so publicly. Those still in the Sports Zone in proximity of the challenge muttered to each other: some looking at Doku as if he were insane, others shocked that Tatsuya turned down the chance to duel him. Though his dueling ability wasn't anything that people talked about, picking a fight with Tatsuya Taro in any capacity unannounced was about as shocking as hearing someone decided to fistfight a bear. Those rumors of his merciless, brutal tactics to garner respect spread like wildfire... And yet here he was, saying no to a chance to add another to the list. If anything, he seemed more focused on bulking up that putting an upstart in his place. Startling response indeed.
Hearing the boy crack his knuckles caused Doku to panic on the inside. Oh shit, was he about to get punched?! Doku was a twig, Tatsuya could probably snap the boy in two. Pass... that... wasn't how this was supposed to go! As he walked away, Doku let out a quick sigh of relief. Doku would quickly speak up as he walked away.
"H-Hey that's not how these things go! Here I'll even use my real deck for yah!" He ejected his Aromages and inserted his other deck inside of his duel disk. To everyone else, this deck was unknown. It was his Abyss Actors, his actual personal deck. "Don't be such a chicken!" Holy... Shit... did Doku really just say that to Tatsuya?! He really needed to think before he spoke. "I wanna duel the big bad Tatsuya, It'll show people I'm not a pushover!" Doku seemed determined to get this damn duel. On the inside? He was shaking, I mean he was already scared of Tatsuya currently. He knew he was not only physically strong, but also a good duelist, and since Doku didn't have... the muscle, to fight him, (nor did he have interest), he felt he could do well in a duel!

The silence in the Sports Zone was deafening as Doku called his desired opponent "chicken". Even Tatsuya himself stopped what he was doing, turning slowly back to the boy with a stone-faced smoldering in his eye.
"It's pitiful to think you honestly believe you need to fight the biggest, baddest guy here to prove you're not a pushover. And for your information, Doku Shi, those damn plants would annoy me to no end anyways. I don't pick fights I don't intend to finish: my deck would give you your advantage no matter how well I was doing, given how I'd sign away my Life Points for power," he explained slowly and carefully, making it a point to name him aloud. Reputations spread fast, and Tatsuya already had a good idea of why Doku of all people would challenge him openly: clout for getting with women. The thought of that motivation irritated him. So he was just another guy scrambling for some status by biting off more than he can chew.
"Shout all you want, little man," he goaded with a small smirk, slowly rolling his neck clockwise and getting practically up in Doku's face with a twisted chuckle. "But you're gonna need to give me a real reason why I should waste my time wiping the floor with you. 'Cuz the way I see it? I get nothin' outta this little stunt, runt." Intimidation would do well for this: it helped him be left alone when he wanted to, and now was no exception. Humoring Doku of all people would be an even bigger waste of time than waiting for that student from earlier to finish his reps in full.
Doku heard him complain about his decks. "I switch my deck up! My actors just wanna put on a show!" He said dramatically. "I just wanna put on a show for our lovely audience! I see we already have quite the crowd!" Doku pointed to the people that had huddled around to watch. "What kind of show doesn't have a dramatic climax! A duel! Hero vs Villain!" Doku would say towards Tatsuya.
Litte...Man... That was just personal. As he got close, Doku didn't act scared, though he was on the inside. "A real reason? that's easy! Imagine this! You, on center stage, adoring fans cheering you on! That's how shows work! Besides! No one at the school as seems my lovely show stoppers!" Doku would pull out his Abyss Actors, the top card was Superstar. "And do you really want to deny a superstar of his debut performance!"
Doku seemed to take a major shift when it came to his personal deck. After Masumi had used it against him, he was itching to give them a duel. His sister's deck was amazing, but it would have been unfair for Tatsuya! So why not show off his own skills. "And I just know a duel against you my friend would make an amazing show! Who doesn't love an underdog story~"

"You're delusional, pal. I don't care about your 'debut performance', and I sure as hell don't care about this 'show' you're pushin'," he shot back, crossing his arms with a scowl. Those in the gathering crowd that came to watch jumped and backed away whenever Tatsuya glanced at their vicinity, startled by the fact that he seemed genuinely mad now. What was supposed to be his time lifting alone suddenly turned into Doku Shi's 'show', and that alone was grounds enough to beat his ass.
"...Listen, ya horny bastard. To hell with your 'underdog story', 'cuz if you don't back up and run home to Mommy, I'm about to obliterate you so badly in front of everyone that even your teachers can't help but laugh at you," he threatened again, this time placing his right hand on his Deck Box at his hip. Obviously he didn't intend on actually using it during his workout, but keeping it on hand at all times was a given in this world. As irritating as that was, Dueling was a sign of strength. One he would have to flex to its fullest extent if Doku didn't heed his warning. "And cut the talk. If this is about impressing another woman, you should try that 'Masumi' chick. She got trashed too: three times, actually, so you'd go well together. You already make a fool of yourself enough as it is, so at least look stupid challenging me without completely dumpstering your chances of showing your face in the near future."
Delusional?! Doku was offended! No not really but we all know he's a big drama queen. He would look directly at Tatsuya. Shaking his head. Guessing he wasn't a fan of a good play! The purple haired boy would just give him a quick shake of his head.
Horny... Bastard... not completely wrong. Though Tatsuya said something that struck a nerve. Doku snapped, pointing towards Tatsuya. What he said next would even surprise the crowd, as no one had ever seen the usually goofy and happy Doku like that. "Don't talk about my mom." He said rather loudly, giving Tatsuya a stern glare, balling up his fist. Doku bit his lip, trying to hold back. Now the duel was personal. He wanted to kick Tatsuya's ass right now.
"Oh well I'm trying to help Masumi improve her dueling skills~ She's actually a good duelist... She just... needs some help." He said awkwardly. Doku prayed Tatsuya wouldn't spin him helping her into some weird way to grab a date. That really wasn't the case.

"Or what, tough guy? Mommy isn't here. What's she gonna do to me? Like you'd do shit about it," he taunted with a cruel smirk, flashing his canines like a cocky blowhard- but this time, said upstart had some actual ammunition in his camp. Doku instigated further in response: clearly the threats hadn't worked, so a demonstration was in order to get the point across to leave him alone. "Since you're so desperate to end up like your little failure incarnate of a girlfriend, I'll be generous enough to let you have this. And after I stomp you flat, you can go to hell. Little too late to beg for mercy now."
Swapping his timer to the Duel interface, the daunting first year widened his stance and clenched his fists with a daggered glare fixed right between Doku's eyes. It would have been quite the sight to behold for people not in his sights: if a notorious bully like him made A-rank and didn't lose his rep, his Dueling ability must not be something to scoff at either. Tatsuya drew five cards into his hand from the Deck slot in his Duel Disk, took one glance down at them, and lightly chuckled. "...You're not worth the effort of going further than necessary. Let's Duel, Doku."
DUEL START!
TATSUYA: 8000 LP
DOKU: 8000 LP
"I'll go first, since you look like you could use a minute to get your bearings. I activate the effect of D/D Swirl Slime from my hand: by discarding it and the other materials from my hand- in this case, D/D Necro Slime, I get to Fusion Summon a 'D/D/D' Fusion Monster. Come out: D/D/D Flame King Genghis!!" he called out, moving quickly and rigidly with his turn. Normal Summoning wasn't even necessary here for a first play: just busting out the big guns and coming out swinging from the get-go. Swirl Slimes green, gooey form mixed with the red mass that was Necro Slime, collapsing into a flaming vortex that revealed a great warrior wielding a hefty infernal blade and an even larger shield. Wordlessly, the conqueror slammed down the shield's bottom edge into the floor of the Sports Zone and squared up in its stance as its ATK of 2000 spun into view.
Tatsuya sneered. "'Oh, that's just a 2000 ATK beatstick! I can make a show outta breaking through Big Bad Tatsuya's best monster!'" he began to mock Doku mercilessly in a high-pitched scathing sarcasm before his face went right back to that of the cold tormentor. "Take that 'underdog' story and shove it where the sun don't shine, pal. I banish D/D Swirl Slime from my Graveyard to summon D/D/D Destiny King Zero Laplace from my hand!"
From the remnants of D/D Swirl Slime's residue on the floor, a dark, unholy energy coagulated into a sphere of dread to Genghis' left. In its place a few moments later remained a horrific sigil-like beast with bony arms, horns, and a sinister look in its eye (wherever that was). "I'm not done. Genghis' effect activates since I Special Summoned a 'D/D' monster: with it, I revive Necro Slime. I then use Necro Slime and Destiny King Zero Laplace to set Link Arrows: Link 2! Serve me, D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh!" the boy chanted out, punching forward with an angry growl in his voice. For someone so calm normally, he really could get loud and scary. In the right Extra Monster Zone (with respect to Doku) arose an armored lapis lazuli figure, toting a sword in its left hand, a spear in its right, and an axe along its back.
"When Abyss King Gilgamesh is Special Summoned and I limit myself to 'D/D' monsters until the end of this turn, I can place two 'D/D' Pendulum Monsters from my Deck face-up in my Pendulum Zones. It costs 1000 Life Points, of course: but that's fine by me. I choose D/D Savant Kepler and D/D Savant Copernicus in my left and right zones respectively. That's right, Doku Shi: you're not dreamin'. I've got Fusion, Link, and Pendulum Monsters in my Deck to the point of consistency. If you're anything like your little girlfriend, though, you're too stupid to realize that this is the part where you get annihilated."
TATSUYA: 8000 LP >>> 7000 LP
In two pillars of faint blue light, Kepler and Copernicus arose with the labels of '10' and '1' marking their Scales. A wide range of numbers: truly an astounding degree of possibilities for Levels he could Pendulum Summon. He had no intentions of doing that just yet, though. "I activate Dark Contract with the Swamp King from my hand. 'Dark Contract' Spells and Traps are powerful, but usually come with drawbacks in the form of a cost I have to pay in Life Points during my Standby Phases. But it's a small price to pay for puttin' you in your damn place! Swamp King allows me to Fusion Summon a Fiend monster once per turn using my hand or field: I'll use Abyss King Gilgamesh from the field and D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok from my hand to Fusion Summon a classic: D/D/D Super Doom King Purple Armageddon!!"
All that talk seemed to be well-suited for the severity of the situation now. This behemoth of a monumental fiend towered above the two Duelists, a half-dragon half-monument beast with a staggering 3500 ATK. The crowd seemed moreso in awe at the reveal of such a monster, but not to the point of cheering for Tatsuya: he was still kinda scary, even moreso when he's not flat and unexpressive beyond quiet intimidation. "Maybe teach your lady how to Fusion Summon by watching me, 'cuz I'm gonna do it a third time to drive this point home. By banishing D/D Necro Slime from my Graveyard along with D/D/D Abyss King Gilgamesh, I can use those two monsters to Fusion Summon again! In case you were worried about my Life Points on my next turn, don't: I've got that covered. To me: D/D/D Oracle King D'Arc!"
Toting armor fitting a fairy rather than a fiend, the third of his Fusion Monsters appeared to Genghis' right wielding a slender blade and toting two great wings as if it were a cape of some sort. The monster flourished its blade forward, remaining as a rearguard for the main man Genghis and his partner Super Doom King Purple Armageddon.
"...Now let's see how well you squirm, genius. 'I wanna Duel you' my ass: you're using me to get some girls. Next time pick an idiot who'll play along blindly."
Doku didn't seem nervous. The stare was pretty intimidating, but Tatsuya had made the duel incredibly personal! Doku looked to his left, then his right. The crowd was recording their duel! Doku wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing... Doku took a deep breath, his deck was shuffled and his starting hand was dispensed. "Let's Duel." He said in a rather calm manner.
He took a look at his hand, no bad. He could totally work with this! "Oh please, you just don't know how to make these kind of things dramatic don't you..." he rolled his eyes and watched Tatsuya take his dear. "Wow~ A fusion, pendulum AND link? Oh just what will big bad Tatsuya do next?" Doku's voice seemed to have change, it was much more sing songy, as if he was putting on a show. "Annihilated? Well no, last time I read the rulebook... It says you can't attack me~ You can summon a nasty monster, that's what the crowd wants!" Doku was egging on Tatsya. Watching his second fusion summon.
"Oh my! 3500 points! Oh what ever will I do! Does our heroes have no chance at taking down the monster?" He put his hand on his head and threw his head back dramatically. Once D'arc appeared, Doku would begin clapping. "Wow! That was just an amazing opening act! To bad it's time for my actors to take the stage!"
"My turn! I'll draw!" Doku said drawing his Sassy Rookie. "Now! I'll start off by putting Abyss Actor Sassy Rookie and Wild Hope in my pendulum scales!" Two scale twos? Was he feeling alright. "Wild Hope's effect activates! I can make my Sassy Rookie a scale 9!" He would say. "Now! Let's welcome our newest actor! Abyss Actor Sassssssy Rookie!" A small fiend appeared onto the field, doing a quick bow. "Now~ Tatsuya! Who's the most important person in show biz?" Before Doku could even answer a link circrut would appear in the left Extra Monster Zone. "That's right! The director! I'll use Sassy Rookie to build my circuit! Link-1 Abyss Actors... Hyper Director!!!"
A man in a director seat appeared onto the field with only 800 points. "With the director on the scene, I can really get this show started!" Soon, the sassy Rookie in his pendulum zone would appear on his field. "Hyper Director let's me get an actor from pendulum scales onto my field! as well as letting me place a new actor from my deck in my pendulum zone! I'll pick... Where's Leading Lady... I guess I'll pick Twinkle Little Star!" A small child fiend with a star outfit appeared in his right zone, with a scale of 9. "Now! I can pendulum summon the rookie I used early right back!" And that's exact what Doku did.
"Now! Let's deal with the problems! I'll use this card!" Doku slammed down a spell card. "Abyss Script Rise Of The Abyss King!" A small script appeared in front of his hyper director. After reading it quickly, two purple blasts would appear above his director, before they were launched destory D'arc and Gilgamesh. "You see, Abyss King let's me destory cards equal to the different actors I control!" He smirked. "So bye-bye to those two"
"Next! I'll use Abyss Prop Wild Wagon!" Doku activated another spell, this time a chariot drawn by skeltal horses appeared on the field. "This prop let's one of my actors take shelter inside! Protecting an actor of my choice once per turn!" Doku's Hyper Director would soon appear inside of the wagon, folding his legs and watching the duel. "And last, I'll throw down a card~ Back to you my friend"
