Hashi was in-uniform, walking towards the grand courtyard to spend his free period thinking about his story writing. His uniform was in order, his yellow uniform was clean, his shoes were tied and everything was up to snuff. That is, until you look above the neck: Just above his long ponytail, swaying gracefully in the wind, was a helmet. A helmet with a couple light-up elements, clearly a cosplay of some kind. This was something that he'd take off during classes, but when it was his time, none of the teachers made a deal out of it yet, even if they caught a glimpse of him. He'd only just gotten lax enough to put it on mid-day, however, figuring that this free period counted as his own time.
Making his way into the courtyard, he went over to a bench and sat down. He pulled out a notebook, and flipped through some sketches with titles at the top.

Hall monitors were always "those kids". The acne-covered, squeaky-voiced, awkward teacher's pet that had no problems snitching on people who violated school rules. The goody two-shoes suck-up who really wanted that letter of recommendation from any instructor who was willing to write sweet nothings down onto a piece of paper for them. Even the vengeful narcissist that saw themselves as nothing less than "the law" on campus. Historically, no one openly admits to liking hall monitors unless they were somehow directly involved in that aspect of school life in some form. Hearing the words "hall pass please" meant a death sentence and a guaranteed problem on your hands, even if you were innocent... But fortunately the existence of free periods and the nature of Liberta Duel Academy meant that the forbidden phrase would never be uttered under normal circumstances.
However, to the first years out and about on academy grounds, seeing the decently liked Liberta SC President Seiko Suzuki patrolling the area wearing the notorious band of the disciplinary committee was a nightmare. To everyone else that knew her unorthodox approach to her position, it was just another cycle of her schedule.
(Let's see... I've got 20 more minutes here, then a group project I need to touch base on and check if anyone else needs help with their parts of the assignment. Follow that up with my history class, a small 10 minute break to finish that Cinnamon Hazelnut Frappuccino from this morning, and then a two-hour long student council meeting continuing where we left off regarding the new athletic field policies. Okay! Everything's in order!~) Seiko thought cheerfully to herself about her agenda, not even slightly fazed by the fact that to anyone else it was impossible. Helping out with campus security was "her honor", as she described it. In fact, being multifaceted was something she prided herself with. Stressing the fact that leaders excel by understanding the intricate parts of the system and having experience in them pushed her to even delegate herself for tasks others would consider "beneath her"...
...That, and she had her doubts that hall monitors were actually doing their jobs out of fear of being stereotyped for their positions, or even retaliated against by the student population. People could be so mean nowadays! Better to be safe than sorry and see for herself. So far no one gave her flak for the reminders about the student handbook she practically memorized cover to cover. (Looks like it's not a problem at the moment, though: everything seems to be in perfect working order! Everyone's just going about their business, no one's causing trouble, everyone's in uniform-)
When her gaze caught Hashi Erikson, that sentiment may as well have been dumpstered as fast as it reared its head. It took a lot of willpower not to start giggling when she realized that he was wearing some sort of light-up helmet. Doing so would be unprofessional, and reflect poorly on her... Even so there had to be some sort of hidden camera in the area to explain why someone was wearing a light-up helmet of all things. Taking a deep breath to calm her urge to laugh, she approached the seated boy with a calm, confident composition.
"Hello! Sorry to bother you, but can I see your student ID? School dress code prohibits costumes being worn on campus during school days barring Halloween and exceptions permitted by club requests," the second year student requested, paying extra attention to keep a polite, kind tone when initiating the conversation.
When the second-year student council member approached, he was largely unaware, until they spoke. He wasn't looking at them until they mentioned the word costumes.
That moment, he looked at them. He put the notebook down as she finished speaking. "Right, one moment," He replied with a bit of worry. He patted down every last pocket on his uniform, over and over, even standing up in order to search the pockets on the back of his pants. He knew before he started, however. He knew, from the moment he left his dorm that morning: Leaving it behind was a bad idea. It was his ID. He had to have some excuse, but he didn't have any excuse as to how he didn't have it.
"I uh... I left it at my dorm this morning," He replied with a somewhat detectable dread of what was to come. "I can write down my name and ID number, if you need..." Even with how he spoke, he had the mental strength to maintain eye contact.
He then finally thought to take the helmet off. The interior wasn't as cleanly made as the outside, mostly just tape and duct tape, with some covers for the lights and foam pads to make it more comfortable. It didn't look manufactured, either, seeing as the interior was roughly cut with a certain amount of hand-crafted look to it.

"Left it at your dorm, huh... Let me guess, first year?~" Seiko remarked with a small chuckle, taking a step back and raising her left arm to show off the device attached to her wrist. It was certainly hi-tech, even moreso than other students at the academy. Judging from its shape and why it was on her wrist, one could only assume it was her Duel Disk. Custom decals of a famous silvery dragon with lapis irises decorate the thin sides and the wrist strap of the device. The clock function that blinked into view was even backdropped with several Blue-Eyes White Dragons. Seems like someone was a fan of Seto Kaiba's ace. "My name is Seiko Suzuki. I'm a second-year student. It's good to meet you... And let this be a good segue into showing you this!"
"Duel Disk, 'ID'."
A small display flashed to life, projecting a rectangular hologram in front of her for Hashi to see. On it was a student roster photo of Seiko, notably a year younger and with a slightly different hairstyle. Next to it was her full name, her second-year status, Legold for her house, A-rank for her class, and a stamp marking her for being on the board of officers for the Student Council: essentially a high-clearance hall pass. "Ta-daaaa! Cool, right? I'm not sure what the holdup is for giving this to first-years, but Liberta puts all student IDs into your Duel Disk as a function for quick and easy ID'ing! Last year they sent out instructions to install the necessary integrations to put your student ID on your Duel Disk within days of school starting, but I guess there's some delay this year."
Closing her ID and humming to herself with a dissatisfied frown, Seiko began tapping her foot rapidly as she pondered. "It's a mystery... Hopefully that'll be sorted out soon. In the meantime, I'll take down your name and ID number: you won't get in trouble this time, but it's just common practice to record it so others in the committee know who's already gotten their warning," she explained further, her gaze drifting down to the helmet. The club president's head tilted slightly to the side in curiosity about the costume piece, studying up the interior. Even from this close of a distance, she had to strain a bit to get a clear image: her terrible eyesight was one of her fatal flaws, and here it really showed. "That's quite the helmet, though. Did you make it yourself?"

He was somewhat shocked by the duel disk, impressed by it's features thus far.
When she asked for his ID information, he wrote it down with little hesitation, though something caught his ear. That something was Seiko asking about his helmet.
With a grin, he replies: "Yes, in fact. This happens to be one of my older ones. I'm actually in the process of re-making it back at the dorms so I can apply my more recently acquired touch-up skills to the interior. I'm already done with the rest of the new costume, too!"
That was when he looked down at the notebook, and remembered he was getting a warning. "Ah, but you probably don't want to hear all of that," He guessed. He tore out the page with the information, and handed it over. "Here it is. I'll remember to leave the helmet at the dorm for now on."

Taking the information, Seiko quickly copied the info from the paper into her records- also conveniently on her Duel Disk. Maybe it was her own personal model, maybe it was issued to all Student Council members: either way, it certainly carried its weight in terms of efficiency. "The rest of the costume? Ah, so you're a dedicated cosplayer. We've had some ganders at the Cosplay Club's charter this year, and right now they're in the process of sorting out their board of officers and their paperwork. Not sure if you've already taken a look at that already, but just in case you haven't, I'm certain they're itching to find people interested!" she remarked with a neutral stare into the display on her device. As the report was filed off, Seiko double-tapped her screen to shut it off with a small smile.
"All done! Thanks for your patience, and I'm sorry for bothering you. I know it might be a bit jarring to see the Student Council President helping out the Disciplinary Committee's work and basically trying to 'dress code' you, but lately I've been concerned about how the student body is receiving their work," the second year explained with a slow disappointed shake of her head. From her words alone, it was evident she cared a great deal about her peers in this circumstance. "Seeing as you're a first-year student who hasn't had prior interactions with the Disciplinary Committee according to our records, I would greatly value your opinion on this!"
Odd thing to ask, but Seiko seemed dedicated. She pumped her left fist and nodded to Hashi with a resolute stare. "So? How'd I do? I was going for a more "firm yet approachable" representation this time around! If I can work here from time to time at experiencing this line of work once in a while, hopefully learning from my successes and shortcomings could help restructure the training and code of conduct for the committee! Please be honest with me: new as you may be, this is critical to bettering Liberta Duel Academy as a whole."
Lots of pressure to shove onto a freshman, which is probably something Miss President didn't notice going into this. Nevertheless, she seemed set on getting that feedback.
