Ignoring the twisting of his answer, she nodded along, listening more to him explaining that the deck he had was his sister’s. It was definitely something she wanted to question—finding out why he was using his sister’s deck.
Luckily, he gave a vague enough answer that she could tell that it was best not to push too much further on the dirty details of why.
Sickly, huh…
“So that’s why you said she may have heard of me.”
It was a simple enough reason. Someone who spent more time than average indoors would have likely heard of a small-time indie musician such as her.
“Well, do let me know if she ever gets back to you.”
That being said, she could wait 30 minutes. She was done with anything she needed to do so it as just a matter of figuring out what she wanted to do. A break from the norm should be enough to give her muse the jump start that it so desperately needed.
“That works for me. I’ll wait here in the meantime. As for what I want to do...we could always just find somewhere with nice scenery. That’s always a good start.”
Doku nodded. "Yeah, she spends a ton of time at home, so she is huge into social media, internet content creators, that kidna thing you know? She knows a lot of indie creators" He chuckled. "She loves this one lady from America who does DIY arts and crafts." He would explain. "Can't really understand her great, but she makes some neat stuff..." He tapped his chin.
Doku was still in shock that she wanted to hang out. I mean this was Doku, he had almost no real friends. "Uh, sure. Walking sounds really... fun" He rubbed his neck with a chukcle. He began walking backwards. "I'll let you enjoy yourself while I get ready!" He sure was... akward, that was apparent from how he talked and his body languge.
Around thirty minutes later, Doku returned to her table. "Yeah, my sister has heard of you, I texted her! She said she loves that song, uh... Witch's Melancholy!" He recalled the name. "Didn't know Yuki was into that kind of music." he teased. "So... I'm off.. you ready to uh... go?"

“I get it. The indie stuff and the stuff that generally remains low key produces some great works. You’s be surprised how much good stuff is tucked away in a corner of the internet that normal people don’t see much, you know.” Stella laughed as she came to understand a bit about this sister Doku seemed to speak so much about and so highly of. “Your sister sounds like a fun person. Would probably be fun to meet her in person, though that’s probably getting ahead of myself.”
“Perfect. I’ll keep myself occupied till then.” As the offer to just walk around was something he had accepted without much evident hesitance, Stella clapped her hands and smiled as she watched the boy walk off back to finish the rest of his shift.
“Alright, let’s try to get something done in the meantime.” Cracking her knuckles, she looked back to the screens with intent to make some progress. A new fire was lit. Unfortunately, a small flame may leave behind nothing beyond mere embers as far too little progress is made.
So much for that moment of passion.
Stella sighed as she sat patiently, having just packed away all of her devices into a messenger bag. The approximately thirty minutes was almost up so the boy was probably almost off shift.
And right on cue, he returned to her table, seemingly ready to get going.
“So, she has heard of me. Well, that’s embarrassing.” Despite that, she was hardly showing any external embarrassment. No blushing or fidgeting. If anything, it almost seemed like she was melting into giddiness from the praise. At least, that’s how it was before she heard the jab from Doku.
“Hey, now. What do you mean that kind of music? Witch’s Melancholy is the tragic tale of an immortal mage watching the world pass her by. I happen to particularly love that one…wonder if I could make a follow-up song to it. That might be worth it.”
After shortly muttering to herself, keeping her hand on her chin and gazing up at the thought of some inspiration, she turned back to Doku who was asking if she was ready.
After a short pat against the messenger bag hanging over her shoulder, she smiled. “Yep. I’m ready. You got everything you need?”
"For sure, I'm a big indie games guy" Stella already knew he was a gaming nerd, so no point to hide it really, besides this was work, where he was often a bit more serious and less sporadic. "The Assention Of Joshua is one of my favorite games ever." He tapped his chin before he started wandering off explaining the game, often he would do that, when it came to things Doku liked, he would often ramble. "It's a rouge-like where you're dropped into basement and only shoot tears, you go around and collect power ups!" That was the basics, though Doku rampled about the plot and various aspects. After he explained the theories and lore about the plot, he decided to stop himself. "Sorry-" He rubbed his neck embarrassed, "When it comes to things I like, I can ramble..."
"Only kidding, I haven't heard it, I can't judge. I tend to like just about any music that sounds good" She shrugged his shoulders, he really didn't listen of a whole lot of music, so he didn't really have a preference. "A sequel song eh? Well if your fans like it they might appreciate it. BUT you gotta make sure it's as good as the original" That... was probably something Stella knew, I mean what Indie artist didn't wanna put out the best project.
Doku than nodded and patted his pockets when Stella asked if he had everything. "Oh shit-" He headed back over to the counter, walking behind, he grapped his phone from behind it. "Thanks for reminding me" It would of been bad if he had left that.
Well, it was time to think of a place to visit, Doku never really went outside, so he wasn't sure of good points to visit. Where the heck was he gonna take Stella? He soon walked outside of the cafe, waving Stella over. If she followed, he would soon speak up. "We could go to the park? I know there's this really tall hill that you can get a good view on?" He suggested. "I don't really know any beautiful locations-" He chuckled. "The window in my dorm isn't really the best view after all."

“Honestly, it was just a bit of a joke.” Stella stuck her tongue out and winked in a motion that was so quick it seemed to be an instant. “Though the sequel song idea wasn’t. The song didn’t end with the Witch’s death, so there is some room for a future song just based off that.”
But, Doku brought up a fair point. If a song was going to be a follow-up, it better be a damn good one to match the level of the original and beyond. Still, she couldn’t help but feel dead set on this idea. Stella had to wonder if she was coming to understand what it felt like for an author who created a one-off book to want to create a full series from the concept.
“I know. But even so, I want to make it the best damn sequel possible. Maybe a stealth sequel. Oooh, that would be fun.”
She found herself perking up more and more as the possibilities ran through her head. But now was not the time for a vibrant rain of hollow possibilities. She just had to engrave it all into her mind and keep the idea archived for just long enough for her to act upon it.
Besides, if she ended up finding further inspiration while she hung around Doku, couldn’t it end up blooming in a direction she could truly admire?
“I’m down for it. A hillside and maybe walking down riverside after. It doesn’t need to be anything more elaborate than that.” She had simply added on another option. The simple flow of time and the simple flow of life was, in its own right, a powerful view for a muse as well.
“What do you think of that, Doku?” she asked with a smile as simple as the view she wished to look upon.
Doku released a rather soft chuckle, glad she had a sense of humor. "You know what you could do? An ARG type thing?" He suggested raising an eyebrow, looking towards Stella for just a moment. Did she know what an ARG was? Were they well known enough? "I heard about this tiny band that did it for publicity, you'd have to get a little crowd and they'll be discussing it for a while! Drop some hints in the next song, and you can have clues lead people towards hints of your next song" He snapped his fingers thinking of this. Though it was just an idea, he wasn't sure if Stella was that type of artist but hey. Who knew?
"I'll keep that stealth sequel a secret for yah~" He nudged her arm with his shoulder. Doku did wonder what it was like being an artist was like. Specifically what went through their heads, were they always thinking of new ideas? "Just... don't milk it dry, if the sequel is good, don't make a third one right away." He would explain, but hey, she probably knew that already. "I may check out this witch song out" He had a slight smirk. "I'm kind of a American Rock kind of guy, specifically the older stuff, but I give everything a shot at least once."
Stella seemed down with his rather simple park idea. He raised an eyebrow, "Gee, you're ocol with my simple plans eh? Last girl I hung out with was pretty picky, so you're a breath of fresh air." He joked, but walked towards the park as they had both agreed upon, it wasn't particularly far, about 5 mintues away from the café. Doku would lead and allowed Stella to follow.
"Say, what got you into the music stuff?" That was a question he had on his mind for a little bit. "I mean every artist has their big story right?" He had a rather... relaxed smile? It was rather rare to see Doku relaxed like he was right now. Doku would let out a sigh and sit down and a bench of the hill discussed, a rather old weathered wooden bench that wasn't very well maintained, but it was... charming?

“Well, I’ve considered the ARG route before.” Stella scratched at her head with her free hand and looked up towards Doku at her side with a mildly dismissive glance. “But there are a few problems with that. First, artists who usually do that need a bit of a pause between works for it to really initiate a good mystery. Second, they’re really difficult to get right. You wouldn’t believe how many ARG type ideas I’ve had that fell apart long before any implementation stage. Practicality kills. And lastly...”
Stella gazed off into the distance for a moment. “Well, there’s gotta be an actual song to market. Hints are meaningless if the final song ends up completely different.”
But with a quick shrug, she stopped speaking of the idea of a viral marketing campaign. “But don’t worry. I’m not going to do something as tasteless as trying to squeeze water from a stone with my music. That would defeat the purpose of why I even sing.”
Yes. Miracles could not be made from fragments of loveless tunes. That was as simple as it could be.
“Let me know what you think when you finish. Or be honest and leave an anonymous review when you’re done. I can take the flaming.” Stella, being a bit facetious, gave a quick jab with her elbow when the young man mentioned trying to listen to her music.
“But yeah, simple tends to be the best for inspiration. You never realize just how many ideas simply watching a flowing river or a sunset can spur.”
After having found a place to sit, she followed behind Doku and took a seat at his side. “I can’t say it all started at a single point. If it had to be one, it was probably that idol I liked when I was a kid. Aurora Lux—at least that was her stage name. When I saw her perform...well, you might think it’s silly, but I came to believe that there was something like magic in song.”
Doku listened to her arguments. Yeah. Those were all valid points, the purple haired boy nodded again. "I get yah. Put some passion in your work" Doku could respect that, some artist wouldn't do it for fun, just to make money. "I'll hold you to it~ If you ever do it I'll..." Well he would say smack some sense into her, but... he couldn't hit a woman! Doku just stopped, he couldn't think of anything to finish. "Well that's good, I'm not sure I could take haters. Dunno, I'm not a people person, don't know if I could handle it"
"True, cliches are never a bad thing" He looked at Stella. "Think about how many songs are about going on a date or love troubles." He threw a jab, a lot of music had similar subject matters. "Oh! Aurora Lux? I think my mom was a big fan of hers!" He leaned back on the bench. "Man. It feels nice today." Doku felt the soft breeze, a soft yawn escaping from his mouth. Seemed he was tired from work. "Damn, I really should get out more." He soaked in the sun enjoying his time with Stella.

“You’ll what?” Stella continued on with as big a grin as she could muster. But from there on, it was no longer necessary to push any further. He probably was going to say something like ‘smack some sense into you’ but hesitated before he could do so.
Honestly, it was quite adorable to watch but there was only so much teasing she could perform before it became more of a detriment than an asset. So, finally aligning with her better judgment, she dropped the line of thought.
“You learn to deal with negativity in the end.” Stella shrugged. “When you put something out to the world, it ends up being part and parcel to have detractors regardless of the reason. You just have to sift through it to find what’s worthwhile to hear.”
“Well, to be honest...” Stella blushed a bit before she spoke up again. “I’ve written a couple of songs on those subjects and well...I don’t have any experience. With love or dates. A lot of it’s all second hand. Though I guess you could say that it’s the same for a lot of the things I put into lyrics.”
“Really? Your mom as well? I guess Aurora Lux was a bit more active when I was a kid. I still remember her retirement concert.” Hearing of another fellow fan of the retired singer, she couldn’t help but chuckle a bit.
But, with all of that said, she turned her focus back to the slowly changing sky before her. But the more she stared, the more the block on her writing hand had failed to even budge a modicum. “I guess just sitting watching the sky is nice on its own too, though,” she said, concurring with Doku. “I don’t really get to appreciate all of that when I’m playing streetside or dueling.”
Doku decided to just ignore it! Maybe she'll forget about it if he just... moves on? "Yeah, when you're kind of the class clown you get a bad wrap." He sighed placing a hand on his forehead. Thinking about what to say next. "Yeah, guess I got something I can learn from yah?" Moving his hand, he would look towards Stella cracking a rather slight smile. "I should try and ignore all that negative stuff!"
"Oh! Inexperienced huh?" He gave her a slight tease, though to be honest Doku had no experience with that kind of thing either. "Eh, I can't say I do either! Like I said. I'm uh... not really a people person... well, A girl person I guess?" Wait no. That could have a different meaning. "I suck at talking to girls..." There we go! Doku was finally honest, for all he liked to act as like a ladies man he really did suck at it.
"Yeah, she would listen to her on the radio, background noise around the house you know?" He could remember the melody at least he thought it was right. After returning to look at the sky, he'd hum the song he remembered.
"Yeah, I mean honestly I stay locked up in my room all day, I go to work, go to my room and play games and such" He tapped his chin. "I mean I don't really have people I can just sit outside with! My sister is obvious sickly so she can't stay outside very long"
