“No, not like that either.”
A single girl sat in a lonely corner of a cafe, as far away from windows as possible. Hidden from prying eyes, she glared at the screens in front of her—a laptop connected to a tablet with a newsboy hat sitting to her left. A scowl carved itself onto her face as she crossed her arms and leaned back into the seat.
She had yet to order anything from the cafe, but she was knee-deep in her work as if she was had been there for hours on end already.
“Ah, ah-ah-Ah-Ah~. No. That doesn’t work at all.”
Despite vocalizing a melody, she continued to maintain her displeasure as she tapped onto the tablet and moved towards the left side of it. Upon the tablet was a set of ten horizontal lines split into two groups of five, with a vertical line on either side. It was a music sheet app. By tapping and holding on the lines and spaces, she could place notes, add symbols for sharps and flats, connect them together, add notes for staccatos, and even erase them all in a fit of frustration just like she had done just then. On the computer it was connected to was a separate app that would read the music and autoplay the song into her headphones. It was hardly the most sophisticated software as the sound would not be fully the same as what she would play, but it worked well enough for the composition process.
Still, it was for the better that she could do that softly and away from the prying ears under the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria. Moreover, the glasses before her bright pink eyes would be plenty to serve to hide her from anyone who recognized her from her street performances.
At least that was what she would assume as she continued to wait at the cafe, hoping for someone to come and take her order.
She may have had her ruts in the past, but she’d always break out of them one way or another. This was just one change of pace that would do that. Eventually.
Man, today sure was slow. Doku, the purple haired waiter was sitting around, behind the counter, but hey, he was getting paid, how could he complain. Hey, a customer. Though, she looked very young. Maybe a student? Hey it didn't hurt to ask. Doku stood up, grabbed his notepad and pen, twirling it in his fingers as he approached the girl. She seemed busy, so he would try and take her order quickly. As he approached, he would look at her screen. Who wouldn't every human was nosy. A musician? Well that was normal.
Glancing at the wall clock, it read about 11 AM. Clearning his throat, the boy would speak out. "Hey, welcome in! I'm Doku and I'm gonna be taking care of you today! Can I get you a drink? Coffee, Water, Soda, Juice?" He pressed his pen against the small notepad. Doku did his best to listen, for her drink order (if any).
"Not to be nosy, but... are you a musician?" He pointed at her laptop. Rubbing his neck awkardly. She was cute yeah, but his boss would KILL him, if he let his flirty side shine while at work. So lucky Stella, Doku looked at her once again. "A lot of musicans come here belive it or not." He explained. "What kinda music do you make?" The boy raised an eyebrow, curious to learn more about her. I mean she was the ONLY customer in the store and Doku wanted someone to entertain him.
"If you need me to leave yah alone just lemme know, I have a lot of customers wave me off, so I won't take it personally."

Having finally heard a new voice break through her thoughts, Stella turned to her side to get a gander of the speaker—a purple-haired young boy who was likely a part time worker in the cafe. Well, young boy would be a bit presumptuous of her to say, given he seemed to be around the same age group as her.
After pulling the side of her headphones next to her boy back a bit in order to uncover her ear, she spoke up.
“I guess I’ll take an order of hot chocolate, but not too much whipped cream please. I’ll have one of those croissants on the side too.” A simple order, albeit a bit of a messy one considering the implements the girl was using while she was there.
She did stop by a cafe to get something to drink and eat, after all. Realistically, satisfying her taste buds and her stomach, at least at this moment, took precedence over finishing a song she was having a block on.
“You could say I’m something like that.” Keeping the headphones in their half on position, she picked the tablet she was using and cradled it in one arm, keeping the screen facing her.
“I don’t really make any particular genre. Though, I guess the closest you could call it is light music or pop idol stuff."
When she thought about it, she never really was able to quantify the type of music she came to write and sing. She would just kinda create what would come to her heart. Whether it was something light or something fanciful, it really reflected her whims and inspirations.
Was there truly a way to pigeonhole that?
That being said…
“Have we met before? I swear you look familiar.” Stella asked, gazing straight into the young man’s face and eyes.
Doku quickly jotted down her order, a simple one. To be honest, he appreciated that, a lot of people who came in was... snooby, so a simple order made his life a whole lot easier. He closed his pen, placing it back into the front pocket of his apron.
So she was a musician, man his hunches tended to be right. Though... looking at her screen wasn't really a hunch was it? Shaking his head. He nodded, "Hey, I'm into pop music? Maybe I could listen sometime?" The boy cracked a soft smile, before chuckling. Doku decided to head over to the bar counter, walking behind he would quickly pour a hot chocolate into a mug, scooping up some marshmallows before dropping them into the mug. Next he grabbed the can of whip cream and spraying some of the fluf ontop, light, just like Stella asked.
Grabbing a pair of tongs and a plate, he would claps onto a croissant and placing it on the place. Yeah, that WAS a simple order.
As he returned, he placed the plate down first followed by the hot chocolate mug. "Be careful, it's obviously really hot" He stepped back from the table, allowing her some more space.
"I got to Liberta? First year, Silvolver?" He gave a few adjectives to describe himself. Truth be told, he was acting super different from how he did at school. He was notorious for his flirts, but his boss was... terrifying, if he were to flirt with a customer he'd a dead man! "Uh..." He sighed. "If you've ever heard about that 'purple haired bastard Doku...'" he used air quotes, "that's... me, dunno why they pick bastard, my dad's alive and kickin!" he let out an awkward chuckle trying to make a light joke at the end... but it was followed by a quick sight. Doku hated the reputation he had around school. "Oh lemme know how the chocolate is, we started using new beans a few days ago so I dunno how it tastes."

"Sure. I'd love to share some of my songs with you! Just give me a minute to find..." Stella smiled as she grabbed her backpack and began to rummage through it as she waited for the waiter calling himself 'Doku' to get everything from her order ready. There was only one problem.
None?!
The more she shuffled through her belongings, the more she came to realize she had brought no samples. Really, it was to be expected since she wasn't here for a performance and wasn't planning one any time today. She had more than her fair share of sample CDs fresh with their own cases ready to distribute but she really didn't carry them around when she wasn't out performing or promoting herself. After all, theoretically, she was still not meant to let her singer persona out when she wasn't performing.
She sighed as he came back with the food. "Sorry, I don't have any physical samples on me. But you can find all my songs for download and streaming on my website. Musica Universalis-Harmonia. It's a bit off what I'd normally do, but that's the best I can recommend now."
She looked back to her dual screens. "The current composition isn't anywhere closed to finished, after all."
As she picked up the cup of hot cocoa she had been given, she blew gently onto the surface of the warm chocolate-colored liquid as she heard Doku speak a bit more about himself. So he went to the same school as her. Given that he was a vibrant enough person, Stella could surmise that she had likely seen the boy in the background at some point or possibly shared some classes with him. Though, she didn't really know much about people outside of her usual friend group.
"I'm the same. First year at Liberta, Uniteal. Call me Stella," she said with a casual smile on her face before taking a sip out of the hot cocoa.
Doku was... surpised? Weren't most muscians not suppose to share their music if they weren't performing? Eh sounded like a saying he had heard before. Well, he was off to get her stuff. When he returned he listened carefully to her.
"Aww man, I'm a physical kinda guy. You know? Lemme just..." He pulled out his phone, quickly looking around to make sure his boss wasn't around. She would KILL him if she found out he was slacking off during work. He quickly punched in the website, so that he can listen to the music later. Once that was done, he slipped his phone back into his back pocket. "My dad use to collect a bunch of those vinyl records. Dunno if he even owns a player..." Doku tapped his chin. "I think I got a record as a preorder bonus for Final Fury 4!" Oh no! He let his nerd interests slip! Curse you Rina for making him open up about being a total nerd!
Doku glanced at her screen, but didn't wanna pry much. So he watched her sip the coffee. "Stella..." he repeated the name, shutting his eyes, trying to match the name with the face. "Uniteal? What kinda deck do you run?" He tried to make some small talk. Seeing as she was the only customer in his dinky cafe, it would help pass the time. Well... expect for that old man in the corner, but he was just sipping his coffee and reading the paper. He'd be fine.
"So... I would ask your interests but that's a little obvious now" He would softly smile before giving her a chuckle. Doku walked over to the bar/counter and picked up a bottle taking a quick sip. He returned, quickly continuing on. "We have a lot of regulars usually, this place is small, but I guess people love the coffee enough to come back!" Placing his hand on his chin smugly he would playfully joke. "This one regular is a college girl~ She must love either my looks or how awesome of a waiter I am~" This gave Stella a quick glance at how he really acted most of the time. "But right now it's kinda slow." he glanced at the clock on the wall. "I need to ask my sister if she's heard your music. My sister is all about indie musicians!"

“I don’t collect any vinyl records. Those being preorder bonuses tend to be rare. Plus I don’t have a gramophone so they’ll just end up sitting around and picking up dust. The purpose of the physical copies is still to listen to them, even if they are growing more and more obsolete by the day.” Stella shrugged. “Though I did end up picking the soundtrack for Last Fantasy 14’s most recent expansion. That had some really good songs.”
Stella, realizing that she had been caught rambling, silenced herself to take another quick sip of the hot chocolate in her cup. Rather than trying to end the whole topic naturally, she ended up forcing her next words to be more about his next question.
“I run these girls.” Reaching into the box at her side where she kept her deck, she picked out the card at the top of the deck to reveal Evil★Twins Ki-Sikil and Lil-la. “They’ve been with me for a long time. Though I guess you could probably say that they fit me. What about you?”
Though it was as she listened to him that she came to realize something.
He’s a bit of a flirt, isn’t he?
She did not say it out loud, but despite all of the attempts to remain professional, he let that fact out of the bag when he talked about the college girl regular. Still, it probably wasn’t a problem considering that he was at least trying to be professional even if he was striking a conversation with a customer. There needed to be some leeway to these kind of things, yes?
“Well, I don’t know about others, but the hot cocoa is pretty nice. Definitely keeps the soul warm.” She said smiling while taking another sip of the hot cocoa.
However, she had to struggle to keep herself from spitting her drink and getting it up her nose. He would contact his sister to see if she heard of her? She didn’t know what to say about getting this much attention outside of the stage. But it wasn’t like she could reasonably object or affirm without sounding sketchy or too prideful.
Instead, all she could do…was take another small sip of the hot cocoa.
Doku nodded, "Yeah recently they don't give those cool bonuses anymore..." He sighed, looking towards Stella. "I don't have a..." she had JUST said the name of it, but he already forgot. "Gramo... record player. But it's still the novelty in it you know? Cool collector's items." He explained, however, he went quiet, she played Last Fantasy? Every girl he met seemed to play it at this point. First Rina, now Stella. "Me and a friend played Dragon Mission 7 the other day. That game had some good music, but damn it was hard..." he had some flashbacks to the giant ogre that killed him!
Doku took a glance at her deck. Oh! Live Twins... come on Doku. They were just cards! Focus on the REAL woman in front of you. Doku nodded as she asked his deck. "Uhhh I have these..." as he said that, he dug into his back pocket, after removing his deck from its box he placed it on the table. Ontop was a Synchro Monster, Aromaseraphy Sweet Majoram. Flowers and plants? That seemed like an odd choice for a guy like Doku. Though he didn't quite explain yet, he was borrowing the deck from his sister. So it wasn't actually his cards.
He was kinda glad she was enjoying the cocoa. Means he was doing something right. Though... was pouring it out from the machine really him making it? Well, he wanted to think so~ The purple-haired boy craved attention, so the fact he had a customer to talk with (they even seemed to share a common interest) was making his workday a lot better.
"Maybe we could hang out sometime. I could always use some new friends since I don't really talk to many people at school" he let out an awkward chuckle, making light of a rather sad situation.

“Well, I’m a bit more of a casual, myself, but collecting paraphernalia is always a fun pasttime, even if you can’t use them. I can’t count the number of posters I don’t have the space to put up on the wall or character figures that still sit in their boxes, you know.” Stella gave an awkward chuckle as she realized just how much had piled up in storage.
As she had seen fit to show her deck’s ace to the boy, he, too, saw it fit to do the same. “Aromages?”
Stella tilted her head and placed her finger at her chin as she mulled over her thoughts for a moment. “I used to know someone who played those. I wonder how she’s doing nowadays.”
But she placed her thoughts elsewhere. It had been a while since she had seen that person and it wasn’t like the two of them kept in contact anyway. “That’s a nice deck to play. Though I haven’t seen much of them myself.”
Stella smiled at the boy and took another sip of cocoa.
“Why not hang after you get off of work, then? Sometime doesn’t necessarily have to be put off forever and my muse has been a bit resistent lately.”
Doku couldn't agree more. Collecting was just... fun? I mean getting some sick merch from a series you enjoy was always exciting. "I mean, I have a few figures in my dorm, they just look REALLY nice." He would let a light chuckle escape. "I have one of Dark-" Stop right there Doku. DO NOT admit you have a Dark Magician Girl figure. Just. Stop. "Dark... Paladin...' He twisted his answer, though it liekly would be seen through easily
"Really? What were they like?" he was curious about the other Aroma user she talked about. "They're a synchro deck, but you wanna have more Life Points" Doku would explain. "They have some effects when you gain life and when you're higher than your opponent." He said. "Well." he paused for a second, thinking if he wanted to get personal. "Uh, well. It's actually my sister's deck. She's sickly so she I said I'd take her deck to school! She'd be really emabrrsed if she saw how I dueled." It was true, Doku didn't have the best win ratio, he was still a novice with her deck.
"I... like your idea." Wait... she really wanted to hang out with HIM. He had no IDEA where to go next, he never thought he'd get this far. "I get off in..." quickly pulling his phone out, he would glance at the time. "30 minutes, give or take. So, what exactly would you wanna do?" Truth be told, Doku wasn't experienced in this either. Spending so much time working and studying really hurt his social skills, so hopefully Stella could help him out.
