A friday afternoon, children finally freed from the confines of class. The day proved surprisingly cool for summer, but that simply excited those that filed out of buildings and onto the paths that led to the courtyard. Plans for the weekend being made, long nights full of wonder, and the occasional grumbling about homework: it makes quite the bustling scene of organized chaos. However, amidst the chatter and the chortling, the sounds of low rhythmic cords slip through those cracks of discord. Sitting off on her lonesome, a girl sat, beneath a tree against its trunk, plucking at the strings of a bass guitar. Of course, it’s plugged into a small speaker next to her, rumbling gently.
Ava’s your average student. She has her ups and her downs. Though, most teachers point out her nuisances. Her clothing isn’t that interesting: a skirt, shirt; sleeves rolled, and her blazer around her waist. With her brunette hair tied into two large ponytails poofed up on her head. It’s her dark skin tone, orange highlights, and jewelried appearance that give her that bad rep. Most people judge someone by their looks, and Ava definitely looks like a wild girl. Her actually being one matters, just a bit. But, right now, she seems obsessed with whatever she’s doing.
Each pluck is followed by another, a little melody being played. Some kids became interested, while others didn’t care. Ava didn’t pay them any mind. She has to keep playing. There’s something here, each note is bringing her closer to something.
Ariane usually wasn't one to really put herself out there, a young woman who was most comfortable doing her own things by herself. In fact most of her down time outside of class was spent holed up in her room—playing games, making music, or otherwise just anything that made her think plenty—out for coffee or snacks, or very rarely at an arcade. She'd usually made a beeline back to her dorm room, yet today was different. She'd made her way through the courtyard as per usual, though the sound of strumming had caught her attention over the choking cacophony of casual conversation.[break][break]
Weighing her options, Ariane still had half a mind to just, ignore it and avoid the chance of having to talk to people more than she needed to, or worse, for someone to stare at her. Though ultimately, she'd relented, feeling for once she shouldn't be so afraid to let something stop her from sating her curiosity. She'd edged her way closer to the source of the music, though with the crowd forming around it, she hadn't made it particularly far, not even close enough to see over the heads of the other students to see who it was playing the guitar.
Not shy in the slightest, the growing crowd didn't even pull Ava from her bass. The young teen continued plucking away at the strings of her instrument, her rhythm bouncing between slow and melodic to rampant and erratic. Without much pattern, her little selection proved a rather exciting spectacle. Though, her performance would suddenly end as, unexpectedly, a string to her bass popped. Her closed eyes opened right after, amber orbs slowly looking down. For some reason, the area grew a bit quiet after that, as if confused on what to do next. Some expected Ava to get mad. Others thought she would cry. However, Ava did nothing. She just sighed and went to packing up her stuff. Just her luck for not bringing an extra string. What a lame end to what was a rather impressive performance, but there's nothing anyone can do about these sort of things. Just as it had gathered, the crowd began to disperse.
Ava couldn't help but think the situation a bit bizarre. She's just minding her own business, and everyone else decided that they should gather around and eavesdrop on her practice. She's not allowed to play in her room because of the noise complaints, so what else is a gal to do but use the lavish courtyard? She might have to find someplace else again. She prefers no distractions, and, even if she's mastered ignoring crowds and such thanks to her prior experiences, that doesn't make the unwanted attention any less annoying. Fiddling with her ponytails after closing her bass' case, she started looking around, wondering where to take herself. Back to the dorm? Maybe explore the city a bit? Choices... Choices...
