Liberta Duel Academy is a Yu-Gi-Oh! roleplay site set in an Alternate Universe (AU) version of the original series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, set roughly 50 years after the end of the Dark Side of Dimensions movie. Liberta Duel Academy is set in the city of Silvershine located in a fictional small country known as Silva, somewhere along the western coastside of Europe.

The new school year at Liberta Duel Academy is here! Students - new and returning - are adjusting to their school life and getting themselves settled in. The entrance ceremony presented the principal's address, spoke of Dorm Rankings, and introduced the Student Council. Alongside the standard Master Duels, the experimental "Specialty Duels" were announced to those new to the academy. So unpack; duel a fellow or two; explore the academy and the city of Silvershine! Action; adventure; slice of life; it's up to you! How will you have yours unfold?
The full moon was casting it's light on the campus, with many students already asleep or in their dorm one figure stood out as it made it's away through the campus, it's long black coat swaying in the night's wind. The moonlight reflected off of Kai's almost white hair and he held his duel phone in his right hand. On the screen a message read -''I'm at SIlvershine, will be at Liberta around midnight. It's time to have a little chat, you know very well what you did and no one is pleased. Meet me at the Grand Courtyard. - Katashi''
Arriving at the place of the meeting Kai raised his head to notice a figure on the other side of the courtyard with short white hair, significantly taller and a bit more buff than Kai himself. He sported dark slacks, a green shirt, a black vest over it and topped it all of with a long white coat of his own.
''So big bro... what brings you to my little school ?'' said Kai with an expression that could by his standards pass as a coy smile. Katashi turned towards him, both of his hands were in his pockets and he'd give off an air of casualness if it weren't for an annoyed tense stare on his face ''Kai... you know very well what you did.'' Kai chuckled slightly with his eyes closed before his brother continued ''Stealing from your own brother... as if you didn't already cause enough trouble for everyone back home.'' Kai's somewhat playful expression didn't change ''I had to prove a point big bro, I've long learned that words alone don't make much progress with you guys. So all I had left were actions. I knew both you and father disapprove of my methods, both in dueling and in general, so action alone is the only thing that's gonna make you see the truth.'' Katashi frowned even more as he eyed his little brother ''You knew I'd come... that's was actually what you wanted...'' he uttered almost as if he had come to the conclusion as the words were coming out of his mouth.
''Precisely.'' Kai added with a sly smile as he leaned slightly forward and slid his duel disk onto his arm. He weaved the arm outwards as the duel disk light up ''Come now brother, and try and take back your monster.'' Katashi too activated his own duel disk, the look on his face getting somehow even more serious than before ''Have it your way little bro... It's time to pay for your actions!''
''Let's make it fair, since we'd both prefer to go second.'' Kai said as he extended his hand an a holographic coin appeared before the two duelists. ''Your pick big bro.'' ''Heads.'' Katashi blatantly said as the coin twisted around, flew over the dueling field and landed... on heads. Neither brother gave out any facial response to the outcome, both remaining fairly stoic as Katashi made his choice ''You go first.''
''Fine.'' Kai barked out as he yanked five cards out of his duel disk for the starting hand. The holographic cards appeared before the young student as he took his first move. ''I activate Cybernetic Horizon! I'll send Cyber Dragon Core from my hand and Cyberdark Chimera from my deck to the grave to add Cyberdark Cannon to the hand.'' The holographic cards of Core and Chimera manifested and flew into Kai's graveyard portion of the duel disk as a form of Cyberdark Dragon card also manifested before him. ''Then I get to send my Cyberdark Dragon from my Extra deck to the graveyard as well.'' he added as the card dissipated. ''Now since Chimera went to the graveyard I get to send another Cyberdark from my deck to the grave- Cyberdark Horn!'' Horn's holographic card also appeared and whirled into Kai's graveyard. ''Next I discard Cyberdark Cannon and Cyberdark Claw to add Cyberdark Edge and Cyberdark Inferno to my hand.'' The two cards manifested and revealed themselves to his opponent as Kai instantly swiped his hand over one of them signaling it's activation ''Cyberdark Inferno!'' The sea of flames spread over the dueling field with a swooshing sound and surrounded the two brothers.
Kai smiled and his eyes widened as his fire spread out. ''Cyber Dragon Core activates! I banish it from the graveyard in order to summon Cyber Dragon from my deck.'' The flams from the Inferno reflected on the metallic outer layer of the machine dragon monster. ''I summon Cyberdark Edge... and with his effect he equips Cyberdark Cannon from the graveyard to itself.'' The graveyard monster appeared and as the Cyberdark machine attached itself to the brown dragon it's points rose up to 2400. ''I'll set two cards facedown and end my turn...''
Katashi drew his starting card firmly, and though the intensity could be seen and felt in his stance and facial expression he still aired and aura of calmness. ''I activate Cyber Dragon Nachster's ability in my hand. By discarding one Cyber Dragon I can special Summon Nachster to my field.'' The smaller mechanical creature brimming with light appeared with a screech as Katashi continued -''Now his special ability lets me revive the Cyber Dragon I sent to the graveyard to summon him.'' He spread his hand to the side signaling the arrival of his monster as the Cyber Dragon resurrected itself. ''Now from my hand...'' a brief pause occurred as Katashi relatively calmly but decisively picked out a card from his hand and signaled the activation. ''... I play Polymerization.''
The two Cybernetic Dragons flew up into a vortex that emerged above the field and a new beast started to descend from it. ''In order to fusion summon... Chimeratech Rampage Dragon!'' A menacing roar spread around the courtyard as the grey twin headed mechanical beast descended onto Katashi's field.
''Chimeratech... Guess you are willing to go into some shades of grey.'' Kai stated referring most likely to the Chimeratech monsters being sort of on the darker side of the spectrum when it came to Cyber Style dueling, but still fairly more in the middle unlike Kai's Cyberdark cards. ''But that was always the furthest anyone of you was willing to go, you never wanted to venture into the other side.'' Katashi stoically gazed upon his little brother, perhaps he had heard this or a similar speech before. Not fazed by his little brothers words Katashi continued his turn. ''I activate Rampage Dragon's effect, by sending two Cyber Dragons from my deck to my graveyard I destroy both of your Spell Cards.'' The mechanical dragon rose both of it's heads as their mouths started filling up with raging electrical energy. ''Both your Inferno and Claw are gone.'' he said pointing a hand towards Kai's field as the dragon fired two streams across the field destroying the designated cards.
''But both of them have a cost for being destroyed!'' Kai yelled out as he covered his face from the dust and smoke with one hand. ''I add Cyberdark Claw and Overload Fusion to my hand from my deck and graveyard!''
''Hmph... Still won't be enough to save you this turn. Battle!'' The dragon once again gathered energy within the mouths of it's twin heads as Katashi announced his attack. ''Rampage Dragon gets additional attacks for each monster I sent to the graveyard to activate his effect, that means three attacks... Go Chimeratech Rampage Dragon destroy Cyberdark Edge and Cyber Dragon!'' Once again two streams crossed the field, destroying both of it's targets but due to Cyber Dragon being in defense Kai only suffered a loss od 1300 life points. ''Now for the third attack...'' The dragon fired once again this time directly at Kai's life points
''Trap activate... Power Wall!''
A wall of cards surrounded Kai and blocked the incoming Rampage Dragon's attack.
Though the damage was successfully blocked and Katashi's triple attack potential dragon did little to nothing to his brother a small smirk appeared on Katashi's face. ''I activate Cybernetic Zone from my hand! This card removes Rampage Dragon from play until your standby phase but doubles it's attack upon his return.'' Kai looked on over his brother's move, thinking his strategy was simply to have a stronger Rampage Dragon during his turn in order to block Kai's attacks but his thought was quickly cut short by Katashi's next card. ''I activate Scrap Fusion!'' ''what..'' ''When I have no monsters on my field I'm allowed to fusion summon a Fusion monster from your Extra deck by using monsters in your graveyard! And thanks to that Power Wall you have two more cards that are treated as Cyber Dragon in your graveyard in addition to the first one I destroyed...''
An electrifying vortex spun over the field as three Cyber Dragon's from Kai's grave were sucked in and with bolts of lightning announcing it's arrival a new ultimate beast emerged - Cyber End Dragon.
''It seems I've taken back what you've stole from me little bro.. Now time for some consequences...'' He merely pointed a finger in Kai's direction and Cyber End Dragon charged up his attack and fired. ''I activate Enchanted Javelin! Letting me gain the attack points of one attacking monster!'' Kai yelled out as he revealed his trap but was still hit head on with Cyber End's attack, knocking him back and dropping his life points to 6700
Kai swung his arm wide and out as he drew his card. The card disappeared from his hand and manifested in front of him next to the other three cards in his hand. He then swiped his finger over one of them ''I discard Cyberdark Claw to add Cybernetic Horizon to my hand. Next I summon... King of the Swamp!'' A slimy, oozy green humanoid monster appeared hunched over on the field. ''Even though you stole back your Cyber End Dragon you're a fool if you think I'd only rely on one option. My King of the Swamp has the ability to mimic any one exact fusion material I need.'' Kai explained as he raised a hand signaling towards the King of the Swamp who's shape started to shift. The oozy skin of the creature went wild and morphed and shifted as it grew in size before finally taking a shape. A shape of what seemed to be a slimy green version of the Cyber End Dragon, contrasting the solid, silver chromed original one on Katashi's side of the field.
''I activate Overload Fusion! And I fuse my Cyber End Dragon with my Cybedark Dragon in the graveyard!'' - Kai announced as an explosion of energy created another fusion vortex and sucked in both monsters. ''You, father, mother... you were always only able to look at one side.'' Kai spoke as the electrifying vortex whirled above him ''Completely rejecting the other, never even considering the dark let alone venturing in it.'' The vortex condensed and a monster started to emerge out of it. ''If one is to understand anything one must study all of it's aspects, I reject the dogmatic narrow views of our family... and now here's a visual representation of my words if they are too much to grasp...''
''Appear! Cyberdark End Dragon!''
The gigantic monster appeared with a thunderous roar, it being symbiotically attached to the equally large Cyber End Dragon only made it look even bigger and quite unnatural. Katashi frowned as he looked upon the machine creature ''So that's your abomination Kai..'' ''A deaf man can never know a beauty of the song, abomination to you brother... Now my true ace attacks yours!'' The gigantic machine geared up and shot out a beam of dark pulsating electric energy towards the Cyber End Dragon ''Dark Strident Blaze!''
Katashi's LP: 8000-1000 = 7000
''I activate One Day of Peace.'' Kai calmly announced and then proceeded to end his turn.
Katashi draws his starting card and due to the effects of his Cybernetic Zone his Rampage Dragon is now destroyed. ''From my hand I special summon Cyber Dragon, next I summon Cyber Dragon Core which allows me to add a Cyber card to my hand.'' By a click of the button on his duel disk another fusion vortex emerged above the field, looming over all of the monsters. Kai looked up with a bit of a squint due to the vortex's light and suddenly all monsters including Kai's Cybedark End Dragon levitated slowly before being swiftly sucked into it. ''I summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon!'' Katashi announced as the new monster landed on the field. ''I can fusion summon him by using machine type monsters from either of our fields as materials.''
For a moment Katashi stopped, as if caught in his thoughts. -''I can't attack him due to his One Day of Peace.. Wait did he know I'd remove his dragon that easily... That's it, he expected another Chimeratech monster after I played Rampage Dragon, that's why he played that spell at such an odd time. And he probably has it in his deck in order to circumvent the negative effects of his Power Bond card.''
Kai extended his left hand as his duel disk emitted a slight glow -''I banish Fusion Substitute from my graveyard and return Cyberdark End Dragon to my Extra deck in order to draw one card.'' Another benefit of the power wall that dumped Fusion Substitute amongst other cards. ''I activate Cyber Dragon Nachster's effect and discard a monster in order to special summon it. Now Nachster revives one machine monster with 2100 attack or defense from my graveyard so I bring back my Cyberdark Chimera.''
A confident smirk appeared on Kai's face while his brother remained more focused and tensed it seemed. ''I activate Chimera's effect, by discarding one spell or tap, such as my Cybernetic Horizon, I can add Power bond from my deck to my hand. In addition to that this turn when I fusion summon a machine type monster I can use monsters in my graveyard as materials by banishing them.''
-''He only has Cyber End Dragon in his graveyard, he banished his Cyberdark Dragon and King of the swamp for the first summon of that thing so his materials are incomplete. Which means...'' Katashi thought to himself -''You're planning to bring out your Cyberdarkness Dragon.''
-''Wrong again, as you've been many times. I'm planning to summon back Cyberdark End Dragon.'' With a swift dramatic swing of his hand Kai swiped a card from his hand and slapped it out in to the open air signaling it's activation ''I play Burial From a Different Dimension!'' he yelled out as his eyes widened. ''This returns Cyber Dragon Core, King of the Swamp and Cyberdark Dragon that are removed from play back to my graveyard!'' Katashi frowned angerly in expectance of the upcoming monster.
''I activate Power Bond!''
''I banish Cyberdark Dragon and Cyber End Dragon from my graveyard to summon once again..'' ''Cyberdark End Dragon!''
The gigantic dark dragon appeared once again only this time brimming with electrifying energy that surrounded him as if it was overloaded. ''Due to Power Bond his attack is now doubled to 10 000 and if you didn't know Cyberdark End Dragon is unaffected by your card effects so you can forget about that facedown card.'' Kai pointed at Katashi's field and called out his attack - ''Go Cyberdark End Dragon, time to end this!''
-''Reveal trap! Miracle Locus! Now you get to draw one card but my Fortress Dragon's attack points are raised by 1000.'' The Dark Strident Blaze attack went through destroying Katashi's dragon as he covered his face elegantly from the incoming smoke cloud and particles. Katashi's LP:7000-6000=1000
Kai drew the card granted to him by Miracle Locus reluctantly and ended his turn, understandably upset for not being able to deliver his finishing blow and he knew what was coming next. Power Bond damage kicks in and Kai's Life points drop significantly Kai's LP: 6700-5000=1700
Katashi started his turn by a decisive draw, taking a glance at the card he held out in his outstreched hand he immediately activated it - Pot of Desires that let him somewhat replenish his hand. ''From my hand I play.. Fusion Birth. Now I send 5 cards from the top of my deck to the graveyard and if there are any fusion materials among them I get to fusion summon the corresponding monster.'' He held out his duel disk as it ejected 5 cards and among them.. Three Cyber Dragons: Cyber Dragon, Cyber Dragon Vier and Drei. Kai stood with a slightly confused expression on his face ''Huh..?'' Before Katashi quickly continued ''Now I fuse all three of them into... Cyber End Dragon!''
With a familiar roar a familiar mechanical creature reappeared on the field and landed behind Katashi that stood with his arms crossed. ''I thought you didn't have any more of them but the one...'' Kai said before Katashi cut him off ''The one you stole ? This one is father's. And yes before you ask he is very aware of what you've done and of our meeting here.'' Kai turned his head to the side with eyes closed and a self satisfying half smile ''Then make sure you tell him all about how I beat you here since you two are so keen on sharing everything, especially when it comes to me.''
''I don't think that will be happening...'' he grabbed a card out of his hand and held it up
The card glowed with bright golden light that illuminated the entire field, blinding Kai and consuming Cyber End Dragon. All the younger brother could hear was Katashi's voice as he announced the monster ''Come forth Cyber Eltanin!''
Kai looked up as he slowly regained his eyesight after the intense glow. ''Cyber Eltanin requires me to banish all light machines from my field and graveyard, and with father's Cyber End Dragon I had 11 light machines. Which gets Eltanin to 5500 attack points.'' Kai stood in silence. Eltanin's attack was still nothing compared to Cyberdark End Dragon's so he knew there was more to Katashi's plan. ''I activate Limiter Removal!''
A surge of electrical energy streamed from and around Cyber Eltanin and he grew larger in size as his attack points doubled.
The monster now towered over the field with 11000 attack points, dwarfing Cyberdark End Dragon in size.
A couple of the detached floating Cyber heads around Eltanin fired a few streams of blue energy at the field destroying Cyberdark Chimera and Cyber Dragon Nachster on Kai's field. ''When summoned Eltanin destroys all other monsters on our fields... of course your Cyberdark End Dragon is unaffected but I have something else for him... Battle! Cyber Eltanin attacks Cyberdark End Dragon! Go Strident Giga Blaze!''
The giant beam from the mouth of the main head blasted out as the other smaller heads fired their energy streams as well, combining with the large one and the attack obliterated Kai's dragon into pieces.
Cyber Eltain's surge of electrical energy increases and the monster explodes due to the limiter removal effect as Katashi's turn came to an end. Kai stood hunched over from the previous large attack he endured. He raised his head up and spoke to his brother with only a tidbit of exertion in his voice ''Well.. now that your last attempt failed to end me this is finally over...''
Kai drew the starting card for his turn but didn't pay much attention to it as he immediately went for a card that was already in his hand -''I activate Spell Economics. Now as long as this is active I don't have to pay any life points to activate spell cards... Now I activate Re-Fusion! Time to bring back my dragon Katashi!''
The gigantic monster revived behind Kai and dominated the empty field with it's presence
-''I activate Cyber End Dragon's effect! I am able to equip a monster from the graveyard to it and since he is equipped with both the monster and Re-Fusion he gets to attack twice this turn.. Not that it will be needed.'' Kai said with a smile ''Go now! For the final time - Dark Strident Blaze!''
-''I activate Electromagnetic Turtle!''-
The giant dragons attack hid an almost transparent electromagnetic barrier which fully blocked his attack. ''No matter how many attacks your dragon has, Electromagnetic Turtle's effect ends the battle phase.'' Katashi announced. Seeing the annoyance and a dash of rage on his brother's face and realizing he had nothing more Katashi took to his turn
-''Fine then. You're just delaying the inevitable, with no cards in your hand you will be finished on the next turn.''
Katashi decisively drew his one card, almost as if the swipe cut the air around him -''I activate Pot of Desires.'' Another 10 cards were banished from his deck but considering the duel was nearing it's end there was no other choice or option. Drawing the crucial two cards Katashi glanced at them - Cyberload Fusion and Battle Fusion. Jackpot.. or more like his deck didn't fail him. Confidently he activated the first of the two cards ''I play... Cyberload Fusion! Returning all of my banished Cyber Dragons into the deck in order to bring out...
Chimeratech Overdragon!''
8800 attack points which was more than enough to finish of both Kai and his dragon.
-''You started your celebration too early little bro.'' Kai clenched his teeth at the sight of the Chimeratech dragon that dwarfed his own. ''Time to end this Kai! Chimeratech Overdragon.. attack!'' Katashi commanded his creature that instantly sprung to action, gathering energy in all of it's mouths and fired towards Kai's dragon.
With a giant explosion smoke gathered and covered the entire field for a few seconds until Katashi became halfway visible through the smoke, standing calmly looking victorious and confident. His expression suddenly changed into that of a slight shock when he started to make out parts of the sylouethe of Cyberdark End Dragon showing through the smoke and dust. It seemed the dragon was still there at the same spot he was before the attack. As more smoke dissipated and Kai's side of the field became more visible Katashi finally noticed the same near transparent electrical barrier covering his little brother's side of the field as Kai stood with a smirk. ''Electromagnetic Turtle... I discarded it previously with Power Wall. Blood is still still blood big bro, or maybe it's just a mutual habit we developed over the course of our many duels.'' With no other choice Katashi regained his usual calm ''Fine, we settle this in the next turn.'' as he set a card facedown.
